Maiev does have its share of tomfoolery. Server legend Dacaybaby (AllianceMage) is recognized in the Trade channel for the phrase "Maiev ask me anything =)", garnering hundreds of questions. Holmuim (Blood ElfPriest) caused quite a stir with perhaps the single most self-serving server progression thread ever stickied by Blizzard. Dacaybaby Also (AllianceMage) has had an impact on the economy of the server with his popular /roll casino, creating a trend. All in all, Maiev may be considered a fairly normal, low to mid population, backwater PvP server.
Progression
Maiev is a Horde dominated server, which could be considered a norm among PvP servers in Whirlwind.
Horde tacticians from the guild Nõthing Personal represented the server in Arenas and Battlegrounds throughout TBC. Unfortunately, Nõthing Personal was disbanded by then guild master Kuvarro, who refused to level to 80 upon the release of Wrath of the Lich King.
In Wrath content, Horde guilds maintained server dominance. Perennial powerhouses Power Word Awesome and Order of Medivh, who had reformed from the guild Defiant, were joined by the relative newcomer FrozenAngelz to regularly clear all endgame content. Alliance raiders in turn gravitated toward Rusty Musket and Team Banzai, but were hard pressed for the success of their Horde counterparts.
In early 2010, The KGB returned to their home server of Tichondrius, many Renascentia members transferred to Ner'zhul to form Ab Initio, and Rewind disbanded. Many Alliance raiders then turned to Pandemic, a guild which would lead the faction's Icecrown Citadel progression and continue to make its mark in 4.1 with the release of Cataclysm.
In Mists of Pandaria the server in terms of PvE content it is dominated by the guilds The Knights of the Nine and Eternal Damnation. Eternal Damnation abosorbed most of the reminents of Power Word: Awesome the previous dominate guild. Creating some competition between the two guilds.
