Maiev Shadowsong

General InformationEdit

Maiev US (PvP) is a low population server named after Maiev Shadowsong who is being held in a prison cell in Shadowmoon Valley by Servants of Illidan and Akama. Like the other members of Battlegroup US Whirlwind, the servers for Maiev are physically located in Phoenix, Arizona, USA. (See US realm list by datacenter.)

Community Edit

Maiev is a shell of its former self. At one point Maiev was a striving server filled with active raiders, pvpers, and its fair share of trolls. Unfortunately the server is almost completely dead now. You are lucky to find anything you need on the auction house and the Trade Chat can be silent for hours at a time. Hopefully things will get better with Connected Realms soon to come.

Progression Edit

Maiev was a Horde dominated server, which could be considered a norm among PvP servers in Whirlwind. Most of the Horde players have left though.

Current progression information can be found at WowProgress

History Edit

Despite the greater Horde presence on the server during The Burning Crusade, the Alliance had better drops from Illidan in Black Temple. Wren of Get Well Soon managed to obtain the server's first Warglaive of Azzinoth (off hand) on their first kill, later completing the set with Warglaive of Azzinoth (Main hand) on August 6th, 2008.

Horde tacticians from the guild Nõthing Personal represented the server in Arenas and Battlegrounds throughout TBC. Unfortunately, Nõthing Personal was disbanded by then guild master Kuvarro, who refused to level to 80 upon the release of Wrath of the Lich King.

In Wrath content, Horde guilds maintained server dominance. Perennial powerhouses Power Word Awesome and Order of Medivh, who had reformed from the guild Defiant, were joined by the relative newcomer FrozenAngelz to regularly clear all endgame content. Alliance raiders in turn gravitated toward Rusty Musket and Team Banzai, but were hard pressed for the success of their Horde counterparts.

In early 2010, The KGB returned to their home server of Tichondrius, many Renascentia members transferred to Ner'zhul to form Ab Initio, and Rewind disbanded. Many Alliance raiders then turned to Pandemic, a guild which would lead the faction's Icecrown Citadel progression and continue to make its mark in 4.1 with the release of Cataclysm.

In Mists of Pandaria the server in terms of PvE content it is dominated by the guilds The Knights of the Nine and Eternal Damnation. Eternal Damnation abosorbed most of the reminents of Power Word: Awesome the previous dominate guild. Creating some competition between the two guilds.

In respect to PvP, <BRICK SQUAD> just took enormous poops on the entire server.
