Template:Server

Proudmoore is a large PvE PST-based server, which came 12th in the race to open the Gates of Ahn'Qiraj after initially leading the charge (after which, Medivh became the world first opener). Proudmoore was one of the original World of Warcraft servers, and it has been active since November 23rd, 2004. It was also one of the first servers to offer character transfers. Queues during the Summer of 2005 frequently reached 1200 or more, often with a waiting time of over two hours.

As of April 28, 2008 (according to US.Gorgonnash.info), Proudmoore was the world first server to fully complete the Sun's Reach campaign, and had in fact been the world first to open phases 2, 3 and 4 of the Shattered Sun Offensive - no small amount of revenge for losing the race to open Ahn'Qiraj. The players' desire to avoid a repeat of the AQ race, as well as the server's very large Asian, Australian and New Zealand player base - playing during the "midnight hours" - contributed heavily to their achievement.

While Proudmoore is a high population server, contrary to the information on the worldofwarcraft.com/realmstatus page which often lists the server as a Medium population realm, its player base is spread out amongst North American, Asian and Australian / New Zealand time zones. The fact that Asian/Aussie/Kiwi players constituted a significant portion of the Proudmoore population was key in its large lead over other realms in the SSO event, more so than its large population.

The large aussie/kiwi and asian player bases created multiple peak hours spread over the day, rather than just a few high-congestion peak hours as found on realms with players from similar time zones. This allowed players who completed their dailies at peak hours to do so with less server lag and less competition and allowed the realm to progress at a near constant rate.

Proudmoore is also home to some of the World of Warcraft's largest GLBT guilds. The two biggest being Taint on the Horde side and The Stonewall Family on the Alliance side. Both guilds have in the past held, together with the other smaller GLBT guilds, Pride events.
