Shadowmoon is an EST PvP server. The name originates with the Orcish Shadowmoon clan of Draenor. The server was created just after release when the initial group of servers became overloaded. While the original name of the server was Shadow Moon, the realm name was changed to Shadowmoon in the late summer of 2006 (with the removal of the space). While the reason for the name change is unknown, it is suspected that the change was deliberately made by Blizzard for consistencies sake, as there are currently several uses of the word. This change caused a great deal of problems for many of the server's players, mainly UI specific.
