Flametongue Weapon gives a straight buff to spell damage. In addition, Enhancement Shamans can learn [[Lava Lash]], which increases damage by 25% if the off-hand weapon is enchanted with Flametongue Weapon.

Flametongue Weapon is the preferred weapon buff for Elemental Shamans, even though from level 5 to 18 [[Minor Wizard Oil]] has +1 more spell damage. Note that since this only increases damage, Oils are the only beneficial weapon buff for healing until [[Earthliving Weapon]] at level 54.

For Enhancement Shamans, it is the recommended that after you talent 5/5 in Elemental Fury to use Flametongue on your offhand weapon over [[Windfury Weapon]].
