Set
From WoWWiki
A set is collection of equipment that provides an additional bonus when worn together or are associated by other distinctions, such as stats (crit chance, defense, and resistance) or adjective (Black Mageweave, Ornate Mithril, and Wild Leather).
Formal Sets
Formal sets are sets of items which provide bonuses when worn together, in part or whole. The most famous example of formal item sets are the Tier dungeon armors, such as Tier 1 and Tier 3. See: Armor Sets
Vanity Sets
Vanity sets are sets of items which do not provide bonuses when worn together, other than the bonuses of each individual item. There is no mechanical benefit to wearing all items in these sets.
Vanity sets usually lack the stringent definition of formal sets. They are bound mostly by items that share the same prefix in their name, as well as the construction and origin of those items.
These are just a few of the many vanity sets.
- Azure Silk
- Black Mageweave (Tailoring)
- Dirty Leather (Vendor, Camp Narache)
- Red Mageweave (Tailoring)
- Tough Scorpid (Leatherworking) (tb)
