Patch changes[]

  • Dragonflight Patch 10.0.0 (2022-10-25): Now a row 3 Affliction talent (was a level 15 Affliction talent).
  • Shadowlands Patch 9.0.1 (2020-10-13): Nightfall now procs more often as Spell shadow abominationexplosion [Corruption] spreads to more targets.
  • Battle for Azeroth Patch 8.3.0 (2020-01-14): Nightfall's chance to trigger increased by 33%. Nightfall now increases the damage of Spell shadow shadowbolt [Shadow Bolt] by 50%, up from 25%.
  • Battle for Azeroth Patch 8.0.1 (2018-07-17): Re-added and redesigned as a level 15 Affliction talent (was a level 10 Affliction ability). Corruption now has a chance to make Spell shadow shadowbolt [Shadow Bolt] instant cast with increased damage.
Old: Your most recently applied Corruption has a 6.0% chance when it deals damage to cause you to regain a Soul Shard.
  • Legion Patch 7.0.3 (2016-07-19): Removed.
  • Warlords of Draenor Hotfix (2014-12-15): Nightfall should no longer fail to trigger if the most recent target of Corruption dies.
  • Warlords of Draenor Patch 6.0.2 (2014-10-14): Now has a 6% chance to trigger (was 10%) and learned at level 10 (was 54).
  • Mists of Pandaria Patch 5.4.0 (2013-09-10): Now gives Corruption a 10% increased chance to generate a Soul Shard on the most recently applied Corruption.
  • Mists of Pandaria Patch 5.0.4 (2012-08-28): Redesigned as a level 54 Affliction ability (was a tier 5 Affliction talent). Gives your Corruption spell a 5% chance to cause you to regain a Soul Shard.
Old: Gives your Corruption and Drain Life spells a 2/4% chance to cause you to enter a Shadow Trance state after damaging the opponent. The Shadow Trance state reduces the casting time of your next Shadow Bolt spell by 100%.
  • Cataclysm Hotfix (2011-02-18): Instant-cast Shadowbolts from Shadow Trance (both the talent and Inv glyph primewarlock [Glyph of Corruption] versions) should no longer consume charges of Ability warlock backdraft [Backdraft] if both procs are available. Shadow Trance will always take priority and be consumed first when Backdraft is active. Subsequent Shadowbolts will consume Backdraft stacks.
  • Cataclysm Hotfix (2011-01-18): While Nightfall is active, Doomguards will not instantly cast Spell shadow shadowbolt [Doom Bolt].

  • WoW Icon update Patch 1.3.0 (2005-03-07): Fixed a bug where the Shadow Trance effect was lost without benefit. Previously, the talent had a 3%/4% chance of triggering. It now has a 2%/4% chance of triggering, and the tooltips have been updated to accurately reflect this change. The Shadow Trance buff granted by the Nightfall talent will no longer be used up by a Shadow Bolt that was in mid-cast.
  • WoW Icon update Patch 1.1.0 (2004-11-07): Added.
