Shadoweave Tailoring is one of the Tailoring Specializations you are able to choose in Shattrath City.

Shadoweave specialization allows you to create two units of Shadowcloth and Ebonweave instead of one using the same amount of materials and grants access to Shadoweave Tailoring specific recipes. This specialzation is geared more towards warlocks, frost mages, and shadow priests.

Becoming a Shadoweave Tailor Edit

To specialize in Shadoweave tailoring, a character must complete Neutral 15 [70] Becoming a Shadoweave Tailor, given by Andrion Darkspinner <Shadoweave Specialist> in Shattrath City. To obtain this quest you need to have 350 proficiency in Tailoring, and be ready to travel to Shadowmoon Valley. You need to be at least level 60.

The quest requires you to travel to the Altar of Shadows and attune a crystal to it, then travel back to Shattrath City to complete the quest.

The Altar of Shadows is located inside the Netherwing Pass, a valley in the cluster of mountains in the southeast corner of Shadowmoon Valley. The pass begins in the middle range of the mountains (coords 62,63) and the Altar is on the edge of the cliff, directly south (coords 58,71).

You don't need any mats to complete the quest, and it won't start the cooldown on Shadoweave crafting. Immediately after completing the quest you may travel back to Shadowmoon Valley to craft your first two pieces of Shadowcloth.

Changing Specialization Edit

Since patch 2.1.0, you may now re-specialize. It will cost 150Gold to unlearn the current specialization, and 20Gold to learn the other specialization.

Crafting Shadowcloth Edit

Crafting Shadowcloth is not exclusive to Shadoweave Tailors, but the specialization will always produce 2 pieces of Shadowcloth with the mats for a single one.

The materials are:

Inv fabric netherweave bolt imbued
1x [Bolt of Imbued Netherweave]
Inv elemental primal shadow
1x [Primal Shadow]
Inv elemental primal fire
1x [Primal Fire]

To craft Shadowcloth, the tailor must stand at the Altar of Shadows, located in Shadowmoon Valley. After crafting, the tailor will receive a "Shadowy Fortitude" buff which provides +25 stamina for one hour.

The cooldown on the crafting is 92 hours (nearly 4 days), but it's not shared with the cooldowns on the other types of specialized cloth, namely Primal Mooncloth and Spellcloth.

Note: As of Patch [3.0.8] there is no longer a cooldown on Shadowcloth.

Exclusive Patterns Edit

Shadoweave Tailoring gives exclusive access to the following patterns:

Right before WotLK hit stores a patch was released which made the Frozen Shadoweave Set bind on equip (BoE) and only usable by shadoweave tailors.

The patterns can be obtained from Andrion Darkspinner, after you have completed the specialization quest.

The Frozen Shadoweave Set was arguably the best Frost Mage/Warlock/Shadow Priest equipment attainable before the 25-man raid instances. It nicely complements either Spellstrike Infusion ([Spellstrike Hood]+[Spellstrike Pants]), or the Battlecast Garb ([Battlecast Hood]+[Battlecast Pants]), because they use different equipment slots.

Material cost to construct Frozen Shadoweave setEdit

To make the complete set you'll need:

Inv fabric netherweave
468x [Netherweave Cloth]
Inv elemental primal fire
26x [Primal Fire]
Inv elemental primal water
38x [Primal Water]
Inv elemental primal shadow
26x [Primal Shadow]
Spell nature web
8x [Netherweb Spider Silk]
Inv enchant dustarcane
52x [Arcane Dust]
