After the other Tauren Tribes were forced out of Desolace by the marauding Centaur, only one tribe, the Shadowhoof, remained. Based in a small valley in eastern Desolace, the Shadowhoof refused to flee with the other Tauren and fought viciously to defend their land. The Shadowhoof ferocity in battle and cunning guerilla tactics held off the centaur for generations, but ten years ago the Galak centaur launched a massive invasion into Shadowhoof valley. Though the Tauren fought with bitter determination, they were overwhelmed by the sheer numbers of the Galak. Only a handful of Shadowhoof Tauren survived, fleeing to the barrens.
Lore
The Shadowhoof Tauren are known for their cunning and secrecy, traits they adopted after the emigration of the other Tauren tribes from Desolace, who the Shadowhoof feel abandoned them. The shadowhoof adapted ancient hunting techniques to use in warfare, preferring ambushes and traps to outright battle. While the other Tauren retained their peaceful culture, the Shadowhoof became merciless warriors, dedicated to destroying their enemies.
Today
Only three Shadowhoof Tribesmen are known to be alive: Storm Shadowhoof of Winterspring, and Ghoro and Rhogo Shadowhoof, adopted by the Bloodhoof Tribe.
