Overview

Gives your successful melee attacks a chance to regenerate mana equal to 15% of your attack power and reduces all damage taken by 30%. Lasts 30 sec.

Current Knowledgebase

This information is out of date. More recent tests have shown that Shamanistic Rage was changed to a PPM system.

Currently, there is only one known set of tests undertaken to determine the actual proc rate of Shamanistic Rage. Oggie (poster on the Elitist Jerks message boards) collected data using a variety of 2H, 1H + Shield, Dual-Wield, combat logs, using weapons of varying speeds. The combat logs were analyzed, accounting for flurry, and the conclusion thusfar is that:

• Shamanistic Rage is a proc-per-hit chance, as opposed to a proc per minute chance.
• The proc rate as measured in Nov 2006 was 35%. It is unknown if that has changed for live Burning Crusade content.

Examples

The flat 35% procrate means that fast weapons are significantly superior for this ability. Remember that you can switch weapons in combat using a macro.

Case 1: 1000 Attack Power, dualwielding 2.6 speed weapons with windfury

22 autoattacks, 8 150 mana procs = 1200 mana
4 windfury procs, 8 windfury attacks, 3 150 mana procs = 450 mana
2 stormstrikes, 4 stormstrike attacks, 1 150 mana proc = 150 mana
total = 1800 mana

Case 2: 1000 Attack Power, dualwielding 1.8 speed weapons with windfury

36 autoattacks, 12 150 mana procs = 1800 mana
7 windfury procs, 14 windfury attacks, 5 150 mana procs = 750 mana
2 stormstrikes, 4 stormstrike attacks, 1 150 mana proc = 150 mana
total = 2700 mana

Case 3: 1000 Attack Power, dualwielding 1.3 speed weapons with windfury

46 autoattacks, 16 150 mana procs = 2400 mana
9 windfury procs, 18 windfury attacks, 6 150 mana procs = 900 mana
2 stormstrikes, 4 stormstrike attacks, 1 150 mana proc = 150 mana
total = 3450 mana

Sample Macros

Here are two simple macros that combine racial abilities and trinkets to greatly enhance Shamanistic Rage in a single button press. These can be combined with other trinkets and abilities as long as they don't force a global cooldown.

Notes

In Patch 2.3, also reduces all damage taken by 30% for the duration.

In Patch 2.4, it now increases the chance of mana gained from 10% to 30%, but duration reduced to 15 seconds from 30 with the same 2 minute cooldown. It is now also a physical ability, therefore being undispellable.
