Shambling mounds are found both in the Emerald Dream and on Azeroth.S&L 145 In the marshes of Azeroth, these swampland creatures are responsible for thousands of innocent lives lost to the bitter waves. They live in the darkest places, hiding beneath the murky waters or sleeping within rotted logs. They are vicious, though slow-moving, and have thus far protected their territories from the Scourge and its minions. Despite the plague's effect on most plant life, the shambling mounds seem immune to its incursion. It is unknown if the shambling mounds on Azeroth have any kind of internal structure or society; no other race has ever been able to communicate with them.MoM 192 Some of the shambling mounds in the emerald dream have been mutated into Corrupted Ones by the Nightmare.S&L 145 Shambling mounds are resistant to fire. The shambler spell creates three or more shambling mounds.
