Update: 5/10/2011:
Silverpine Forest, or simply Silverpine, is a vast, ancient wood that runs along Lordaeron's rugged western coast. The land ranges from fairly flat to hilly, and is nestled among even taller mountains. The forest is eerily silent save for the occasional unnatural howling echoing among the trees. Mossy overhangs shiver in the cold breeze, and the trees are all sickly or dying. Dilapidated farmsteads and abandoned mines dot the land, home now to the darker denizens of the woods.

  +
Over the years, the Alliance to Horde Ratio of the server has shifted. During the beginning years of the server, the ratio was approximately three alliance to one horde. Nowadays, the alliance to horde ratio is approximately one Alliance for every two horde (or 1:2). Despite this slight imbalance, the server has achieved great things on both factions, and more importantly, has achieved things together as a player base.

  +
PVE Achievements:
This woodland is haunted and wild, characterised by its tall, silver-barked pines towering over grassy knolls. The Alliance once protected Silverpine Forest, when it was verdant and lively. Now, the place is shrouded in ghostly mists. Forsaken control the northern forest and constantly clash with the wretched Rot Hide tribe of gnolls. What remains of the human population retains control of the southern forest, but they are desperate and their forces thinly stretched. Dalaran sends frequent expeditions into Silverpine to defend these people and study the undead plague and worgen curse — a mysterious affliction that causes its victims to transform into bloodthirsty, lycanthropic worgen when the moon rises.

  +
The guild Exodus Horde Icon Small is currently the no. 1 guild on the server in raid progression. The guild has achieved essentially 90% of the server first raid boss kills during Wrath of the Lich King. In addition, the guild has achieved several world firsts, and a significant amount of US first kills.
Gilneas and the Hillsbrad Foothills border the forest to the south, while Tirisfal Glades lays to the north. Lordamere Lake serves as Silverpine's eastern border.

  +
On a side note: During World of Warcraft Classic, the server was the Twenty-First to complete the Patch 1.9 war effort.
Though the territory belongs to the Forsaken, their claim is disputed by the wizards of Dalaran and agents of the Scourge who have taken possession of some of the ruined fields and steadings. Rothide gnolls operate from the mysterious Fenris Isle, and fiercely attack anyone who dares approach their dealings. In the southwest lays Pyrewood Village, whose people have fallen under archmage Arugal's curse, transforming into bloodthirsty werewolves at night-time. Arugal makes his home in the nearby darkened towers of Shadowfang Keep.

  +

Silverpine Forest frequently sees battle, as Alliance forces from Southshore journey to the forsaken woods to attack the Sepulcher or enter Shadowfang. It is the edge of the Forsaken homeland, and the southernmost point where effects of the undead plague can be seen in the plant life.

World PvP on Ysondre has recently become a huge part of the server. In addition to frequent Stormwind and Orgrimmar raids that occured in both Wrath of the Lich King and Cataclysm, the server has hosted the following World PvP Events.
History
The Alliance once kept Silverpine Forest pristine and beautiful, at a time when the forest resembled the Hinterlands far to the east.

  +
The 40 v 40
During the Third War, the forest was affected by the plague of undeath. The forces of the Lich King invaded the woods, setting fire to the crops and massacring its people. With Lordaeron destroyed, the wizards of Dalaran busy rebuilding their home and the citizens of Gilneas having locked themselves away behind the Greymane Wall, no one was left to take care of the forest. The plague began to affect the trees, making them pale and lifeless with disease. Since its fall, the forest has become occupied by the Forsaken, minions of Thule Ravenclaw, and the forces of Arugal. Its fate lies in uncertain hands as the opposing factions vie for control of the strategically important woods.

On November 21st, 2010, two players on Ysondre, Fatherload of Horde, and Bushweiser of Alliance, thought it'd be a good Idea to try and achieve Screen shot of the Day on the World of Warcraft community site. On that day, both players gathered 40 players and met in the barrens. The factions formed two lines of battle, with the faction leaders meeting in the middle. The battle was then fought, and the Horde arose victorious.

In Cataclysm, Silverpine Forest will undergo some minor changes. Pyrewood Village is now a worgen town, next to the recently broken Greymane Wall. The Sepulcher has been reinforced with the new Forsaken architecture and the surrounding cemetery has increased dramatically in size. Several new Forsaken outposts have been erected, and fortifications can be found along the road including rebuilt walls, fencing, and bridges. The Plague containers are present in many places as well. There is also a Horde Coffin Hauler pulled by a Subdued Forest Ettin which acts as a high-speed transport with several stops along the way from north to south Silverpine.

Two months later, the screenshot they took that day, was chosen for screenshot of the day.
It should be noted that Silverpine Forest uses frequent phasing as characters advance with quests.

Four Months after the 40 v 40, the ysondre forums suggested that a new battle be held, for "all the bragging rights", between the Alliance and Horde. This time however, the battle would between 160 players, 80 on each side. Fatherload and Bushweiser commanded the troops once again, although because each side would require two raid groups, each leader chose a general to aid them. Fatherload chose the Paladin Darkmourn, and Bushweiser chose the rogue Ninjroid. The Alliance and Horde then met after one week of preparation, and the battle was to be held outside the ruins of Gilneas. Similar to 40 v 40, the factions formed their lines of battle, a screenshot was taken, and the battle began. Once again, after about a half hour of fighting, the horde was victorious.

An interesting, and different event that happened on ysondre shortly after the cataclysm, were the PVP Flaggings. An orc warrior named Sassymolassy created a Thread on the ysondre forums entitled "I'm Paying nicely for PvP Flaggings". The summary of the thread, was that she was paying for "Bounties" on certain alliance players, where screenshots of their dead bodies, with The Flag of Ownership planted in their corpse, would award the player with the amount of gold put on their head. The thread got extremely popular, and heated friendly drama grew over it. After a while, the rules were changed, to where the last person killed, would pick the new target.
* Pyrewood Village – north of here is now called The Forsaken Front; area around here is now charred from battle; a road leads from the Village to Gilneas through the Greymane Wall (though not to Gilneas City), and the area beneath the road is flooded

The Forsaken control Silverpine Forest. As undead freed from the Lich King’s control under Sylvanas Windrunner, they wage war upon the Scourge in the hopes of destroy it. Some also take dislike to the living, and so their list of allies is thin. Forsaken resemble men and women, but their skin is a decayed gray and dead flesh shows in places.

They have concerns with Dalaran's increased interest in the region.

Silverpine Forest is a vast, primeval wood that runs along Lordaeron’s rugged western coast. The land is fairly flat, but small hills, mossy overhangs and grassy knolls are common. Ysondre (US PvP Server)

Ysondre is a US PvP server. It is based in the Eastern Standard Time zone. It opened Thursday, March 23, 2006 at 12:00PM PST. It currently a low to medium pop server.

Update: 5/10/2011: Over the years, the Alliance to Horde Ratio of the server has shifted.

PVE Achievements:

The guild Exodus Horde is currently the no. 1 guild on the server in raid progression. The guild has achieved essentially 90% of the server first raid boss kills during Wrath of the Lich King. In addition, the guild has achieved several world firsts, and a significant amount of US first kills.

World PvP on Ysondre has recently become a huge part of the server. In addition to frequent Stormwind and Orgrimmar raids that occured in both Wrath of the Lich King and Cataclysm, the server has hosted the following World PvP Events.

The 40 v 40

On November 21st, 2010, two players on Ysondre, Fatherload of Horde, and Bushweiser of Alliance, thought it'd be a good Idea to try and achieve Screen shot of the Day on the World of Warcraft community site. On that day, both players gathered 40 players and met in the barrens. The factions formed two lines of battle, with the faction leaders meeting in the middle. The battle was then fought, and the Horde arose victorious.

Two months later, the screenshot they took that day, was chosen for screenshot of the day.

The 80 v 80

Four Months after the 40 v 40, the ysondre forums suggested that a new battle be held, for "all the bragging rights", between the Alliance and Horde. This time however, the battle would between 160 players, 80 on each side. Similar to 40 v 40, the factions formed their lines of battle, a screenshot was taken, and the battle began. Once again, after about a half hour of fighting, the horde was victorious.

A video was also put together for that event, including points of view from several players in the battle. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EheGbly41S4 http://www.warcraftmovies.com/movieview.php?id=184051

The World PvP Flaggings

An interesting, and different event that happened on ysondre shortly after the cataclysm, were the PVP Flaggings. An orc warrior named Sassymolassy created a Thread on the ysondre forums entitled "I'm Paying nicely for PvP Flaggings". The summary of the thread, was that she was paying for "Bounties" on certain alliance players, where screenshots of their dead bodies, with The Flag of Ownership planted in their corpse, would award the player with the amount of gold put on their head.
