In World of Warcraft, skin can mean one of three things:

1. A type of ingredient item gathered by those with the Skinning profession from a skinnable corpse resource. Hides are a type of skin.
2. An action to gather the item above with the Skinning profession.
3. Changing the model of a creature to something else. (Changing the cat form of tauren druids to a brown lynx or changing a closed door to a little box). If it does not give you an advantage in the game (first example), it is allowed if you don't talk in-game about it, but if they do (second example), it can (and probably will if you get caught) get your account banned. This has been confirmed by a Game Master in-game.
