Apparently linked to the then-upcoming 2.1.0 change where mining nodes aggros nearby mobs, a blood elf paladin created this legendary thread on the US Forums:

Skinning a bear should aggro every bears in a 40 yard radius. It makes sense, you are actually skinning their best friend.
