Overview

Ability Hunter SnakeTrap

Place a trap that will release several venomous snakes to attack the first enemy to approach. The snakes will die after 15 sec. Trap will exist for 1 min. Only one trap can be active at a time.

Snakes has their own aggro, therefore this trap has no effect of hunter's aggro rating.

The snakes have 3 rogue-style poisons:

Snakes applies poisons with spit, not a melee attack (about 8 feet range). Also, if there is unpoisoned target nearby, snakes will not go melee, but will spit more poisons on that target, making snakes excellent AoE boost. For example, if hunter knows exact location of future mage's AoE, he can place snake trap here and most mobs at this location will get poisoned.

When trap is activated, snakes start to attack nearest target, it is possible that some snakes will attack one target and some will attack other. After target is dead, snakes attacks next target (in close range).

Functionality

Uses

  • It is possible to use the Snake Trap to gain distance while kiting. Place the trap as you are kiting a mob, then as the snakes release and begin to hit the mob, you can feign death. This allows you to gain distance from the mob as it kills your snakes. Be aware of the speed that the mob kills your snakes, as if you haven't landed a dot or damaging ability on the mob before the snakes all die, it will deaggro you completely.
  • Place trap where Mage or Warlock will do their AoE to add some damage and to slow targers (thanks Crippling Poison).
  • If two or more targets are tanked at the same time, place trap under the tank.

Limitations

  • Trap will exist for 1 min.
  • Traps can now be placed while in combat; however it will not become active until 2 seconds have passed.
  • Only one trap can be active at a time.
  • The snakes are very easy to kill with a normal AoE (frost nova for example). Moreover, they can be feared.

Range

  • Infront (the trap is laid infront of the Hunter). Snakes themselves have ~15 feet range, e.g. they will go for closest targets in 15 feet, plus they have ~8 feet spit radius.

Cooldown

  • 30 seconds

Casting Time

  • Instant, plus 2 seconds arming time

Upgrades
