The Snowman Kit item summons and dismisses a Snowman, a small pet, meaning it is a non-combat pet and will not aid you in battle. Unlike other pets, it does not follow you around, but stays in the same place it was summoned until dismissed.

Snowman Kit is one of the four possible pet items you can receive as gifts under the big tree in Ironforge and Orgrimmar during the Feast of Winter Veil seasonal event.
Notes
Like all pets for this event, it requires you sacrifice a Snowball in order to summon it. Snowballs can only be bought or gathered from the Alterac Mountains during the event, or made once a day by engineers throughout the year.
Even if you did not obtain this pet in a present, they can often be found in the Auction House throughout the year at highly inflated prices.
In a similar fashion, during the event, players were mailed an item that would turn them into snowmen when used. This Winter Veil Disguise Kit also required a snowball to use.
