− | Species (aka race) is a term used to split various unique creatures into separate groups. There are numerous species throughout Azeroth, including orcs, humans, gnomes, trolls, and murlocs, among many others.loM There can also be generations of offspring from interfertile parents of two different species.MG They may be the first generation of a new hybrid speciesMG. Many races can interbreed including dwarves, high elves, night elves, trolls, goblins, orcs, taurenMoM — producing races like forlarren, half-elves, half-night elves, half-ogres, half-human half-ogres, half-draenei, half-giants, mongrelmen, harpies, dragonspawn and vrykul. + | Luxor Armstead was born to a poor lumberjack and his wife, who lived in a small house in the middle of Gilneas City, following the birth of his sister, two years years later. Luxor grew up in Gilneas, spending most of his time with hunting in the woods with his father in the forests. Luxor got to school in the same class as , prince of the kingdom, and they became friends. After he finished school, Luxor joined the royal hunters of Gilneas. Luxor did not fight in the Gilneas civil war, but on the age of 20, he defended his city from the feral worgen. In that war, he was bitten by one of them, but ignored it and fought further. However, he slowly changed in one of them. He got crazy and even killed his entire family. Eventually, he was captured by the Gilneans, but they kept him alive, because they thought he could still be saved. They freed him in Duskhaven, because they needed his help in the Invasion of Gilneas, which later caused Liam's death. Although Luxor and the other Gilneans stood strong against the Forsaken and the orcs, Gilneas lost, and they were forced to leave. |
+ | After a dangerous trip by boat, he arrived in the night elven city of Darnassus. Luxor lived a while in the nearby city of Lor'danel, and the time he lived there was the most depressing time of his life. Not just because of the depressive environment of Darkshore, but also because he had recently lost his dog, his best friend, and his entire family. He had no friends or family left. After a view months of meditation and rest, he moved to a small apartment in the Cathedral Square in Stormwind City, joined a local guild, and found a job as one of the royal hunters of Stormwind. Soon they found out that Luxor was a very skilled and talented hunter, and they started to give him more difficult missions. He was send to Duskwood, Stranglethorn, the Plaguelands, Winterspring, and then... Outland. He accepted the job, knowing that he wouldn't be able to come home for a while. And there he still is, in Honor Hold, where he resides in the local inn, fighting against the might of the Burning Legion. |

− | For example, since the beginning of the First War, orcs have interbred with a number of species that vary largely in appearance; mostly with humans, but half-ogres and half-draenei are not unheard of.HPG |

+ | == Personallity == |
− | In the RPG each separate playable race is considered a species/race and/or depending on source a subspecies/subrace within a base type. For example high elves, blood elves, night elves, and highborne are considered separate race/species or subspecies/subrace within the elven type.WRPGAPG The terms subspecies amd subrace are used in the context that they are subtypes within another species/race. |
+ | Unlike most other Gilneans, Luxor's handling with other people is softly and friendly. He is charming to women. He likes to drink a beer, but knows when to stop; he is always sober and smart, and is confident and knows what to do. Not only in social dealing, but also in combat. |

− | Unfortunately Blizzard isn't always consistent on how they use the terms. Sometimes using the term 'race' when they meant the biological definition of 'species'. This has lead conflicts between sources, where one source says blood elves and high elves are the same 'biological race'('biological species' would have been a more proper use of words in that syntax), when most sources say they are separate races (culturally and biologically). |

+ | === Origin === |
− | ==Speculation based on real-world definitions== |
+ | Very little is known about Luxor's origin. Luxor is named after his paternal grandfather, Luxor I, and his paternal grandmother's father has moved to Gilneas from Lordaeron, making Luxor have 1/8 Lordaeron blood. |
− | speculation |
− | |||
− | In English, race and species can be synonyms — i.e. mean the same thing or have similar meaning in certain contexts. |
− | |||
− | :Main Entry: race |
− | :Part of Speech: noun 2 |
− | :Definition: ethnic group |
− | :Synonyms: blood, breed, clan, color, cultural group, culture, family, folk, house, issue, kin, kind, kindred, line, lineage, nation, nationality, offspring, people, progeny, seed, species, stock, strain, tribe, type, variety. |
− | |||
− | However, usually in science, such as biology, a species is more accurately defined as "the major subdivision of a genus or subgenus, regarded as the basic category of biological classification, composed of related individuals that resemble one another, are able to breed among themselves, but are not able to breed with members of another species" and the term is not to be confused with race (usually synonymous with 'subspecies'). It should also be noted that; |
− | |||
− | :race is now under dispute among modern biologists and anthropologists. Some feel that the term has no biological validity; others use it to specify only a partially isolated reproductive population whose members share a considerable degree of genetic similarity. |
− | |||
− | In reality there are examples of two separate species mating and having offspring. Usually this produces sterile offspring, but this is not always the case., see Hybrid, for a few examples of fertile hybrids (and details how hybrid species happen.) Because of this the term "species" is hard to truly define. |
− | |||
− | A good example is the debate on whether neanderthals and homo sapiens are the same species, separate subspecies (Homo sapiens neanderthalensis and Homo sapiens sapiens), or different species (Homo sapiens and Homo neanderthalensis), and if they could reproduce together (including whether the young would be fertile or infertile). |
− | |||
− | Based on real world definitions, orcs and humans, may or may not belong to the same species (Homo sapiens), but not the same race (subspecies). It would be within the realm of science that orcs and humans could still be classified as two separate species even though they produce fertile offspring, similar to hybrids like the beefalo. |
− | |||
− | If orcs and humans were the same 'species' this would make them both Homo Sapiens, which would make them both 'human', probably separate human subspecies. However this would go against how subspecies is already used within Warcraft literature. |

Luxor Armstead is a former citizen of Gilneas. After giving his help in the Gilneas civil war and the Invasion of Gilneas he was, togeather with the others, evacuated to Darnassus, but not long after that he moved to an apartment in the Cathedral Square, in Stormwind City, becoming one of Stormwind's royal hunters.
Biography
Luxor Armstead was born to a poor lumberjack and his wife, who lived in a small house in the middle of Gilneas City, following the birth of his sister, two years years later. Luxor grew up in Gilneas, spending most of his time with hunting in the woods with his father in the forests. Luxor got to school in the same class as Liam Greymane, prince of the kingdom, and they became friends.
After a dangerous trip by boat, he arrived in the night elven city of Darnassus.
Personallity
Unlike most other Gilneans, Luxor's handling with other people is softly and friendly. He is charming to women. He likes to drink a beer, but knows when to stop; he is always sober and smart, and is confident and knows what to do. Not only in social dealing, but also in combat.

Very little is known about Luxor's origin. Luxor is named after his paternal grandfather, Luxor I, and his paternal grandmother's father has moved to Gilneas from Lordaeron, making Luxor have 1/8 Lordaeron blood.
