The name "Staff of Jordan" is probably a hint to Diablo 2, one of Blizzard's other games. In Diablo 2 Battle.net, gold lost value in the first few weeks and rare items took its place as trading currency. The most common currency was a ring named "Stone of Jordan", so other equally or less common items were traded for "x SoJs". It has also become a spamming object in trade channel in the last few months along with the Dirge.
