Starfall is a Balance druid talent. It is a non-channeled area of effect spell that deals arcane damage to enemy targets in a target area within 40 yards of the caster. Although it does not cause an especially high amount of damage, it is a 8 second buff that does not require player interference, which allows a druid to have it up while casting other spells and abilities. The buff itself cannot be dispelled or spell stolen.

In PvP, Starfall becomes a valuable, albeit dangerous ability; when used against large crowds it can deal massive damage. It can also be a notable single target damage boost.

Improvements[]

Tips and tactics[]

  • As of Shadowlands, this spell is one of two spells to spend Astral Power and is usually cast whenever possible during any situation where it is possible to hit multiple targets. While this is the case this spell will tend to deal more damage than Spell arcane arcane03 [Starsurge].
  • The Stellar Drift talent will make this spell even more efficient, particularly in dungeons when many targets are often present, and hence when this spell is frequently used.

Trivia[]

Patch changes[]

  • Dragonflight Patch 10.1.0 (2023-05-02): Damage increased by 14%.
  • Dragonflight Hotfix (2023-03-28):
    • Starfall damage increased by 13%.
    • Starfall no longer deals damage once when it is first cast.
Developers' note: The above changes address a bug. Starfall deals damage once when initially applied. When it is refreshed, it updates the existing Starfall instead of creating a new instance. Thus, those subsequent Starfall casts do not get the damage of the initial hit. This change removes the initial hit and adds the damage it would deal across all Starfall's other ticks.
  • Dragonflight Hotfix (2022-11-10): Damage reduced by 30%.
  • Dragonflight Hotfix (2022-10-28): Fixed an issue where Starfall wouldn't trigger Spell arcane arcane03 [Primordial Arcanic Pulsar]'s Spell nature natureguardian [Celestial Alignment] effect when Ability druid cresentburn [Orbital Strike] was talented.
  • Dragonflight Patch 10.0.0 (2022-10-25): Now a row 3 Balance talent (was a level 34 Balance ability). Rank 2 converted into the Ability druid starfall [Aetherial Kindling] talent.
  • Shadowlands Patch 9.2.5a (2022-08-02): Damage increased by 15%.

Old: A Lunar spell that strikes all enemies afflicted by your Moonfire or Sunfire within 40 yards. Deals (29.68% of spell power) Arcane damage every 1 sec for 10 sec. Max 3 charges. • Mists of Pandaria Patch 5.0.4 (2012-08-28): Now a level 76 Balance specialization ability (was a tier 7 Balance talent). Lunar Eclipse now resets the cooldown on Starfall.
  • Cataclysm Hotfix (2011-08-04): Starfall should no longer strike targets with which the druid is not in combat.
  • Cataclysm Hotfix (2011-07-01): Starfall is no longer hitting targets that are within 40 yards if they are not in combat with the druid or his/her party/raid members.
