Overview
'When you wish upon a sta--ouch!'
Starshards is an Arcane-based instant Damage over Time spell. It is only available to Night Elf Priests. It is the lesser version of the powerful spell [Starfall] used by Priestesses of the Moon such as Tyrande Whisperwind.
Functionality
Use
- Casting: Instant
- Tree, School: Discipline, Arcane
- Target: Enemy
- Range: 30 Yards
- Cooldown: 30 Seconds
- Mana Cost: 0
Notes
- Starshards technically is a DoT, and as such is a binary spell and it cannot crit.[citation needed]
- Starshards is a Priest's only Arcane damage spell, and so may have situational use.
- As of patch 1.10, Starshards is "back-loaded" — that is, it delivers most of its damage toward the end of its duration. The damage occurs in five ticks, with the following approximate distribution: two ticks of 15% each, two ticks of 20% each, and a final tick of 30%.
- As of Patch 2.3, Starshards will no longer be a channeled spell. Instead it will be a free (no mana cost; was 50-405 mana) arcane DoT with a 30 second cooldown. In addition, the spell will no longer be backloaded.
- It was useful to cast Starshards after you gained the Focused Casting effect from Martyrdom. This would ensure that you would not waste mana. Now that it cost no mana this isn't necessary.
