A subcontinent is a geographical subdivision on a continent. A subcontinent is usually a group of contiguous regions or zones that makes up some subpart of a larger continent, but does not connect in any way to another continent.
The distinction of a subcontinent vs. a continent is somewhat in dispute as some call some larger landmass regions continents or subcontinents. Also, some larger islands might be considered subcontinents, but there is not specific criteria for the size.
