Sulfuron Hammer

From WoWWiki

Sulfuron Hammer is an epic two handed mace, used primarily for the purpose of crafting [Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros]. It is crafted by blacksmiths with a skill level of 300. The materials are:

[Plans: Sulfuron Hammer] are obtained as a quest reward for Neutral [60D] A Binding Contract, which is completed by turning in a [Sulfuron Ingot] to Lokhtos Darkbargainer in Blackrock Depths. There is no reputation requirement to receive the plans.

All Blacksmiths can obtain this pattern. To receive the plans you must bring a single [Sulfuron Ingot] which drops from Golemagg the Incinerator. You need to have an ingot in your inventory when you speak to him and you will be given a dialog option which leads to A Binding Contract quest, that gives you the plans. Reputation is not needed to receive these plans, although you receive 800 reputation for completing this quest. Plans are not BoP.

Now, before you actually craft the hammer, you will want to obtain an [Eye of Sulfuras], which has an even lower drop percentage (from Ragnaros). Mats used to cost several thousand gold, but are now much cheaper since the release of TBC and WoTLK. Combine the [Sulfuron Hammer] with the [Eye of Sulfuras] and you will get the legendary hammer, [Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros]. If you know someone who can craft the hammer, it is advisable to pay them a fee, rather than using an Ingot, which is a rare drop.

Background

This article or section contains lore taken from the Warcraft RPG books.

Ragnaros wields a massive weapon named Sulfuras. It is far too massive for most mortals to even dream of wielding, even if they could somehow defeat the elemental Firelord. However, fanatical followers of Ragnaros found a way to craft hammers in its image. Each requires an eye of Sulfuras, and these lesser weapons are known as sulfuron hammers. A sulfuron hammer appears to be a smaller version of Sulfuras. It is a spiked, flaming red warhammer. The hammer is crafted entirely from elementium, with an eye of Sulfuras embedded deep in the hammer’s head.MM&M 152-3
