The Sunstrider dynasty (also known as the House of Sunstrider) was the traditional royal family of the Kingdom of Quel'Thalas.

The Sunstrider dynasty began with Dath'Remar Sunstrider, who led the highborne across the sea in their exile to Quel'Thalas and established the Sunwell. The Sunstriders have ruled over the high elves for almost 7,000 years, aided by the Convocation of Silvermoon. Known members of the dynasty include:

  • IconSmall Highborne Male Dath'Remar Sunstrider — Leader of the highborne during the War of the Ancients. After the war's conclusion and the Highborne's refusal to forsake magic, Dath'Remar led his people across the newly-formed Great Sea to Lordaeron and founded the new Kingdom of Quel'Thalas, where he served as its first high king.
  • IconSmall HighElf Male Anasterian Sunstrider — The last high king of Quel'Thalas, reigning for nearly three millennia — a period that encompassed the Troll Wars and the Second and Third Wars. Anasterian was responsible for sending high elven forces to aid the Alliance of Lordaeron during the Second War, and withdrawing from the Alliance following the war's conclusion. Anasterian was killed during the destruction of Quel'Thalas by the Scourge in the Third War; his skull is in the hands of his son and is one of the artifacts required by the dragonflights to restore the Sunwell.Template:Cite
  • IconSmall BloodElf Male Kael'thas Sunstrider — Prince of Quel'Thalas and the last of the Sunstrider line, he styles himself as "Lord of the Blood Elves" rather than king of Quel'Thalas, though he goes by the title of "Sun King" as well. He once lived in the Sunstrider palaces in Silvermoon and also resided in Dalaran as a member of the high council of the Kirin Tor; later, he came to reside in Tempest Keep in the Netherstorm of Outland. After the fall of Tempest Keep, he returned to the Isle of Quel'Danas, seat of the Sunwell, to further the plans he had struck with Kil'jaeden. He currently maintains a personal sanctum within the Magister's Terrace on the island. He was originally one of Illidan Stormrage's cohorts when the Betrayer became Lord of Outland, but he has since shifted his allegiance to that of the Burning Legion, calling Illidan's plans "short-sighted."
