Suppression is a warlock talent that increases the hit chance of Affliction Spells.
Rank | Increased Hit Chance |
---|---|
1 | 2% |
2 | 4% |
3 | 6% |
4 | 8% |
5 | 10% |
Functionality
This talent affects your spells' chance to hit (i.e. "resistance" based on level) and not your spells' spell penetration (i.e. magic resistance).
This means that two points in Suppression will completely negate most of the miss chance of your Affliction spells against targets of your level and three points will completely negate most of their miss chance against targets up to two levels above you. Putting all five points into Suppression will only make a difference against targets three or more levels above you, but makes a large dent in amount of spell hit rating gear needed to reach the theoretical ideal of 17% -- 89 at level 70 rather than 215.
Notes
There is a minimum of 1% chance chance to miss on a target no matter what the level difference or plus hit chance you have.
To a Mage, a resist means he misses out on that damage. But since Affliction spells are mostly dots and mostly instant cast, a resist just means you cast it again. Suppression helps in these checks, meaning that Suppression indirectly increases your damage against anything that can resist many times, such as a higher-levelled mob.
While not a bad talent, the alternative at this tier — [Improved Corruption] — is a must-have for Warlocks spending points in this tree. This can be a valuable "filler" talent.
