Swift Spectral Gryphon

A Swift Spectral Gryphon is actually a spell that gets invoked in certain areas of Northrend when you die there or enter as a ghost. It puts you on a swift spectral gryphon mount that can fly in the area where it is invoked. As soon as you leave the active area, you will be dismounted.

You get the following buff while mounted on the swift spectral gryphon:

Areas where this spell is active:

• Crystalsong Forest
• Icecrown
• Storm Peaks, which includes all the instances
• Wyrmrest Temple in Dragonblight, leaving this subzone will dismount you

Notes

• When you die in a zone where this spell is active, you respawn as a ghost already mounted on spectral gryphons.
• If you go into those zones as a ghost, you will suddenly find yourself on a spectral gryphon.
• They also appear as mounts for the Forgotten Captains on the Forgotten Shore in Dragonblight.

Patch changes

• Hotfix (2009-04-16): "Players killed or ghosts that move into Crystalsong Forest should now be on a spectral gryphon to ride back to their body. ^[1]"
