Tales of the Past is a World of Warcraft storyline trilogy, based upon the realm of Dunemaul (EU) using machinima. Martin Falch (Maquan) is the director of the trilogy. Of all WoW Fan fiction, Tales of the Past has arguably the most complex storyline, and the greatest tie-in to lore. It is also the best and largest scale machinima movie ever created using recordings from World of Warcraft - with multiple large battle-scenes involving thousands of players participating. It is worth noting that - whist Arthas and Northrend are all present in the trilogy - the movies were filmed before the release of Wrath of the Lich King.

:"On blood-soaked fields of battle, frigid winds carried the proud warrior's screams. In war he won the hearts of his people, and in return he shall guide their future."
The series was preceeded by a film named Eden Aurorae Guild Movie, which was a self promotion movie for the guild Eden Aurorae. After getting some great feedback Maquan started working on the Tales of the Past trilogy. Maquans own words about the series:

Garrosh Hellscream is the current Warchief of the Horde, chosen by Thrall to succeed him in the wake of the Shattering. He is the son of Grom Hellscream, a former chieftain of the Warsong clan, who freed the orcs from their demonic curse by killing pit lord Mannoroth. With the reopening of the Dark Portal, Garrosh was invited into the Horde by Thrall himself, quickly advancing to the position of personal advisor of the Warchief. Garrosh led the Horde troops into Northrend.
:The series originally started out as a guild promotion movie for my guild, Eden Aurorae.

:However, as it got popular, I decided to continue and make my second storyline movie, Tales of the Past, which was indeed a way more serious project than the original guild movie. The original idea of Tales of the Past was to make a movie with arranged events between the Horde and the Alliance - as you've seen, the same thing goes for Tales of the Past II.

  +
Garrosh is well-known for his fierce hatred of the Alliance and frequently expresses his desire for the Horde to go to war with its rival faction - a notion Thrall has always opposed. Now that Garrosh leads the Horde, however, he is free to conduct affairs as he sees fit.
:Tales of the Past II was my ambition to make what I did not make in Tales of the Past.

:Voiceacting, camera changes, action, a script, a plot - everything a movie should contain. This ambition turned out to result in quite a ride, spanning over 6 months of hard work, but also tons of fun with all the actors, voiceactors and supporters of the movie! In the end it fulfilled my ambition and I am satisfied with the result, even though I know I can improve in many areas! I have learned tons from this production and I know a lot more than I did when I began.

Synopsis
+
Biography
The story is set after the Third War in an era of relative peace and follows the path of Yimo (a gnome mage and officer of Eden Aurorae) and Blazer (rogue in TotP II but later a paladin in TotP III - member of Eden Aurorae & Yimo's student) as they attempt to re-unite the world of Azeroth in peace. The Eden Aurorae guild's orginial aim is to forfill an oath to kill Ragnaros. Normally this oath has never been affected by the squabble between the Alliance & the Horde - but this changes when the guild is forced to aid the Alliance in a battle against the Horde to repay an old favour.

  +
Early Life
The battle is but the begining of a new wave of tic-tack-toe attacks on both sides. The long feud threatens to escalate as the two sides prepare for one final battle - one that will shatter any hopes of a peace treaty and plunge the world of Azeroth into war - threatening to kill millions. As Yimo and Blazer rush to prevent the battle: Arthas, the Lich King, has his own plans.

  +
Garrosh is the son of Grom Hellscream, and was born on Draenor. Not much is known about his younger years, as his first appearance is after the Second War. It is known that he, unlike most of the orcs, did not drink the blood of Mannoroth.

  +
Beyond the Dark Portal
Lucking in the shadows lay an one of the greatest threats of all that will call upon Yimo, Blazer and heros, old and new, to rise to the occasion; for the willing adventurers to travel deeper into the unknown; for the world to bear more tragic loses; and - ultimately - the united force of both the Alliance and the Horde to save the world of Azeroth...before it's too late.

During the human invasion of Draenor, many Mag'har - the uncorrupted orcs who settled in Garadar, a stronghold in Nagrand - were ill due to the red pox. Garrosh was among them.

  +
Kargath Bladefist visited them at Garadar in search of warriors to aid him. Garrosh asked him about his father, and wanted to fight with him, but Kargath ignored him at first, calling the Mag'har weaklings and not orcs any more, and they could do the Horde a favor by dying. Later on Garrosh asked Greatmother Geyah about his father, but the answer caused him to enter a deep depression.Citation needed<!-- Cited as BtDP - but what page? -->

Garrosh eventually rose to become an important chief among the Mag'har. He was aided by Jorin Deadeye, son of the Bleeding Hollow clan's former chieftain, Kilrogg Deadeye. When our heroes first meet Garrosh, he was sullen, pessimistic, even depressed. He was worried about the health of his clan's matriarch, Greatmother Geyah, who was ill. Garrosh knew that when she died, he would be expected to lead the Mag'har, and that troubled him as well. Garrosh believed himself fated to repeat his father's mistakes.

  +
Garrosh admitted that he was ashamed of his father. The last news Garrosh had had of his father was that Grom had drank Mannoroth's blood, and everything that transpired after this event was unknown to Garrosh for a long time. Indeed, Garrosh did not learn of his father's heroic death until Thrall arrived in Nagrand and re-enacted the events for Garrosh's benefit. Learning that his father had eventually overcome his weakness for power &ndash; Grom gave his life so that the orcs would be free of demonic influence &ndash; Garrosh appeared to gain strength and confidence, believing he is no longer fated to fail himself and his people.

Garrosh, alongside Thrall, traveled in a zeppelin to Theramore, where Varian and Thrall had a peaceful discussion with an eye toward mutual gain; though Garrosh thought it better for the Horde to take what they needed by force rather than exchange their resources. Varian had to leave early as Goldshire and Southshore were said to be under simultaneous distress by the Scourge. Upon exiting Theramore, the Twilight's Hammer clan invaded the city. After catching a glimpse of Garona, Varian thought that Thrall had sent her to assassinate him as the Shadow Council had done to his father. Garrosh accused the Alliance of plotting the attack in an attempt to lure him and Thrall into a trap while Varian blamed the Horde; specifically Garrosh. Though tempers flared between Varian and Garrosh, Thrall and Garrosh left Theramore peacefully. Garrosh, however, felt that Varian had insulted the orcs' honor and that by leaving peacefully the orcs were losing face at the summit.

Garrosh appears as a character in the short story Heart of War. In the story, Garrosh recalls the events of his first visit to Orgrimmar. Being the first Mag’har to set foot on Orgrimmar, many observed him with curiosity and some with awe. He encounters an old soldier from the first war who remembers serving with his father. The retired soldier tells him that he is proud to see a portion of their orcish legacy remain and would gladly serve under him if he could. He tells Garrosh that he will make his people proud.

Yet not all are happy to see Grom’s legacy and heir. An orc woman named Krenna is not impressed with his lineage, as she sees Grom as the one who instilled the blood curse on her people in the first place. Nor is she impressed with Garrosh for that matter. From Krenna, Garrosh learns the harsh realities the orcs have to contend with. It is very difficult to wrest a living in Durotar. Durotar is a desert, making farming impossible. Though the markets overflow, they rely heavily on imports from distant places. Though Ashenvale Forest would be suitable for their people’s needs, Warchief Thrall prohibits them from settling there. Meanwhile Theramore soldiers continue to encroach on their land unchecked. Causing orcs like Krenna to become bitter and frustrated with her people’s leadership.

Tales of the Past I (TotP I) is the first movie of the series and was first released on the 2nd of November 2005. As such, it lacks many of the features found in later movies - especially to do with the script and the lack of voice overs. But despite this, it was one of the greatest movies of it's time with one of the biggest battle scence at it's time.

  +
Garrosh is enraged by her contemptuous demeanor towards Thrall and Grom and threatens to assault her if she continues her treasonous attitude. Krenna’s sister, Gorgonna, intervenes to stop the fight before it started and urges Krenna to walk away. Krenna reluctantly stands down and walks away, leaving Gorgonna to apologize for her sister. Gorgonna explains to Garrosh that her sister doesn’t understand that her people live in Durotar as a way to atone for the crimes their people committed during the First War. Garrosh is also frustrated with her attitude and counters that their people did what they needed to do in order to survive and even if they did need to atone, why should the children of the orcs who had nothing to do with the war, have to suffer for the sins of their parents? Gorgonna shows him her green skin and explains that her people bear the mark and legacy of her people just the same and that she will atone in whatever way her warchief sees fit. Gorgonna tells Garrosh that he would not understand as he is a Mag’har, and because of this he is free of such a burden.

The movie starts in the Broken Back Inn in Ironforge where a group of adventurers are gathered drinking beer. One of the dwarfs begins telling a tale told to him by his grandfarther - a story that took place many years ago:

  +
Garrosh is shocked that Thrall would ever be that unreasonable. He becomes irritated at Krenna’s words and the more Garrosh reflects on them, the more he becomes increasingly frustrated and impatient. Garrosh becomes frustrated with Thrall’s lack of action against the Alliance and the Scourge; frustrated with having to divide the orcs’ resources and forces to deal with the problems of the other Horde races; frustrated to see the Scourge infect their food supplies with plague and rain death upon them while Thrall refuses to unleash the full might of the Horde. Garrosh is determined to preserve Orgrimmar, even if he has to force Thrall’s hand to do so.
The story begins in Stormwind Keep where Yimo, a gnome mage and officer of Eden Aurorae guild, is talking with Simon, a noble of Stormwind and an old ally from the Third War. The nobles of Stormwind are currently incharge along with the five year old king: Anduin Wrynn. The Eden Aurorae guild is a group of Alliance adventurers brought together by an oath to defeat Ragnaros - an occurrence that is attempt once a year. The nobles of Stormwind force Yimo and Eden Aurorae to join with Conrad Schultz, an overzealous Alliance officer aligned with the Scarlet Crusade, and his 'defence' against the Horde to repay an old favour. After much debating and thought, Yimo is forced to reluctantly agree to the demands and the members of Eden Aurorae are gathered.

  +
A Council for War
The Eden Aurorae members meet up with Conrad Schultz and his Alliance army. On route to fight the Horde army, Schultz orders an attack on a defenceless village - to which Yimo protest against. However, Yimo is ignored by Schultz and the attack begins. All the Horde - men, women and children - are killed. Later Schultz hears reports from Alliance scouts that the Horde army is building up in Durotar and quickly orders his army to head towards them.

Garrosh was present later in Orgrimmar in a meeting with Thrall, Lady Sylvanas Windrunner, High Overlord Saurfang, Grand Apothecary Putress and Rehgar Earthfury to discuss what to do about the Scourge. After consulting Saurfang and the spirits, Thrall favored a more cautious approach to dealing with the Scourge: an advance scouting party to the frozen continent before committing troops, as well as meeting with Jaina Proudmoore to find out what the Alliance were planning to do about the Lich King. Garrosh however, felt that dealing with the Alliance would put the Horde in danger and wanted to take the Horde's armies and conquer the humans and then march to Northrend and crush the Scourge; advocating that the Horde should rule all of Azeroth. Thrall, irritated by Garrosh's recklessness and bold challenges to his authority, answered that the humans were not a threat and that he would not underestimate the Lich King by walking blindly into a Scourge trap. Thrall then provoked Garrosh to challenge him to a duel by saying that he would not make the same mistakes as his father, Grom Hellscream. Frustrated with his leader's apparent lack of action and the insults to his father, Garrosh challenged Thrall to a duel in the Ring of Valor to settle the matter.

  +
The two orcs fought for some time until it seemed Garrosh had gained the upper hand. He began to taunt Thrall, but the battle was interrupted by a Herald of the Lich King threatening Orgrimmar with destruction. Hearing this, Thrall used Chain Lightning on Garrosh and both left the ring, with Thrall telling the younger Hellscream that they would settle their dispute later. The city was attacked by countless abominations and frost wyrms and a few death knights.
On arrival, the Horde army is being lead by Warchief Gorbag; with his brother Swoog as second in command. The Alliance and Horde armies line up and the commanders on both sides address their troops before proceeding into the mid-ground. There, Gorbag talks with Schultz - remembering him from the Third War and how he has changed since then. He suggests, instead of a full battle that would result in much bloodshed, to settle things in the way of a duel. Schultz agrees and the duel starts. During the duel, Schultz then surrenders to Gorbag - but as Gorbag heads back to his troop, he kills him yelling 'Only a fool trusts in honor!'. Swoog rushs to Gorbag who's dieing words are orders to Swoog to begining the attack on the Alliance. Swoog relives memoires of their childhood before killing Schultz. The Horde army then charges towards the Alliance army and a full battle ensues.

  +
Thrall and Garrosh led the forces of the Horde in repelling the Scourge attack, with the help of Saurfang, Sylvanas, Reghar, the city defenders, and some adventurers. After the Scourge assault force had been dealt with, Garrosh asked to be sent to Northrend again. This time, Thrall agreed and ordered Saurfang to begin preparations for war.
By the end of the battle, the Horde have won and many Alliance soldiers have perished - although only a few Eden Aurorae members actally lost their lives. Swoog debates with the leaders of the other clans and agrees to let the Eden Aurorae go - beliving as his brother did that Schultz had changed. He suggested that maybe something had infected the nobles of Stormwind and permits the Eden Aurorae to investigate further. Knowing that this would bring 'dishonor with their fraction', he offers the shelter of his own clan as well as the help from 'The Ancients' guild. However, Swoog warns that some of the other clans will not believe in the 'infection' and thus will begin launching their own attacks.

  +
Excursion to Northrend
For the next three years, massive attacks are launched on all the major cities of the Alliance. Dispite constant appeals by Swoog, it seems like an impossible task to convince the warchiefs stop. Rumors begin circulating that Morbid of the Iron Edge clan is gathering the Horde clans together for an even greater attack - one that will shatter any hope of a peace treaty. The Eden Aurorae have little time to reveal the truth before another full scale war.

Garrosh Hellscream was named Overlord of the Warsong Offensive, the main army of the Horde Expedition to Northrend. He established his command post at Warsong Hold in the Borean Tundra, on Northrend's western coast.

  +
Unlike his appearance in Nagrand, where he had been downtrodden and apathetic, Garrosh was much more hotblooded and reckless in his role as Horde commander in Northrend. His chief advisor, High Overlord Saurfang - who drank from the same chalice that corrupted Grom Hellscream - warned against Garrosh's savage tactics, fearing a resurgence of the bloodlust that had dominated the Horde prior to the death of Mannoroth. The two often spared over tactical decisions, particularly in regards to supply lines between the Hold and the Forsaken forces in Howling Fjord. Even if he disagreed with Saurfang, Garrosh appeared to have at least a grudging respect for the old warrior. Saurfang warned Garrosh that if he went too far against the Alliance and lead their people down a "dark path", Saurfang himself would kill Garrosh. Garrosh did not challenge Varok, but sarcastically questioned how he had managed to survive so long without falling victim to his guilt and sense of morality.
Tales of the Past II
Tales of the Past II (TotP II) is the second movie of the series and was first released on the 16th of June 2006. The film, with a total run time of 41 minutes, it was arguably one of the best and largest scale machinima movie from World of Warcraft at the time. Production of the movie took place over approximately six months to complete and included more than 1000 extras in the form of other World of Warcraft players providing support for epic battle scenes.

  +
Despite Saurfang's warning, Garrosh appointed commanders and they conducted the war in such a manner as to focus strongly on battling the Alliance. In particular, Conqueror Krenna, the commander at Conquest Hold in the Grizzly Hills, bucked completely the war with the Scourge in favor of making war with the Alliance. Like Garrosh, she was hotblooded to the point of recklessness in pursuing the Alliance, so much so that she had to be deposed by her sister Gorgonna, an underling at Conquest Hold. The commander of Orgrim's Hammer above Icecrown was also concerned with defeating the Alliance in Icecrown, and even within Icecrown Citadel, the Horde faced off against the Alliance, as the Skybreaker and Orgrim's Hammer did battle as well.

TotP II occurs four years after the events of TotP I. During those four years, continuous attacks and counter-attacks by the Horde and Alliance have taken place - lead on the Horde side by Morbid of the Iron Edge clan. Any peace treaty has been rejected by the Alliance, namely the nobles of Stormwind. Due to their actions in the battle covered in TotP I, the Eden Aurorae guild has been thrown out of Stormwind as traitors - therefore the guild is unable to gain any information as to any infection or corruption within Stormwind. To make matters worse, the Horde and the Alliance are preparing for one final battle - one that will shatter any chance of future peace and will lead to another full scale war.

  +
Garrosh is a firm believer of “honorable” combat; as evidence of his deprecation of the Broken Front. Though he endorses conflict with the Alliance as much as possible, he will only permit it if it is done in a manner that fairly tests the martial prowess of the Horde. Using underhanded tactics such as poison and mind control is considered “cowardly” by his standards.
Yimo and Blazer, a human rogue, take the opportunity to sneak into Stormwind during a celebration party for a recent Alliance victory against the Horde in Searing Gorge. In Stormwind, they meet up with Thainor, a human warlock living in the underground of Stormwind. He tells them about Diary of Conrad Schultz, which may contain the clues to the corruption within Conrad Schultz and the rest of Alliance that could prevent the upcoming war. After successfully retrieving the book, they teleport out to their camp in Tanaris - but accidentally end up at tower of Karazhan instead.

  +
Secrets of Ulduar
At Karazhan, Yimo and Blazer face an ambush from undead members of the Scourge army. Blazer is quickly polymorph leaving just Yimo to fight an undead mage. A long fight scene occurs and Yimo eventually wins - although the fight drains much of his strength and giving him a sense of 'emptiness'. Luckily, as more undead Scourge arrive, members of a group of warriors known as 'The Ancient' save the heroes and transport them back to the safety of their camp.

Rhonin suggested that the Horde and Alliance work together against the new threat of Yogg-Saron in Ulduar, but Garrosh and Varian were partisan to the idea and Wrynn was portalled out. Accompanied by two Tauren companions - Ball and Xconzoa - Yimo and Blazer travel to the Twin Colossals in Feralas to find Gwaar. Gwaar informs Yimo that the diary is not written by Conrad Schultz - but is in fact a ritual summoning of some sort - mentioning a place called Darkwhisper Gorge in southern Winterspring multiple times. He also hands to Yimo an Orb of Vision - a rare artifact that will store the memories of its carrier. Along the way to Darkwhisper Gorge, the heroes set up camp for the night during which Yimo is visited by the Arthas, the Lich King, in his dream. Arthas reveals the true purpose of giving the book to Yimo and sending him on this adventure - to drain his purity, his soul, to fill in the missing piece of the book so that he, the Lich King, may use it. He also reveals that there never was any corruption - just the evil in all souls of all the races in Azeroth.

Yimo refuses his friend's help and gives him the book and the orb - mentioning how he cannot live and asks Blazer to 'stop them' (referring to the Alliance and the Horde) and to 'stop him' (referring to Arthas) before teleporting Blazer to safety.

  +
After Thrall steps down to join the Earthen Ring in stabilizing a world devastated by the Shattering, Garrosh is named to succeed him as Warchief of the Horde - at first on a temporary basis (Garrosh even refers to himself as "acting Warchief" on at least one occasion), by Cataclysm it becomes clear that Garrosh's ascension is permanent. Thrall also gives him Gorehowl, the axe of Grom Hellscream, which he wields in-game as leader of the Horde. Garrosh has also received a new model as of Patch 4.0.1.

  +
Now in charge, Garrosh evicts the majority of non-orc and non-tauren NPCs from central Orgrimmar, believing only they possess the strength to truly defend the city. However, every race is still accounted for and while being a tough leader, Garrosh sees value in all the races that belong to the Horde and uses them to the best of that value. He also begins remodeling the city with dark metal, similar to Warsong Hold and other Horde bases in Northrend.
At the same time, the Horde general address his troops:

  +
Garrosh's ascension to the Warchief's throne has been applauded by the orcs, but is less than popular with the other races of the Horde, including the two closest allies of the orcs. Vol'jin, chieftain of the Darkspear tribe, absolutely despises Garrosh, condemning him as a warmonger and believes that his status as the son of Hellscream and as a hero of the war against the Lich King was the only reason that Thrall chose Garrosh to succeed him. Most vehement in his opposition to Garrosh's ascension, practically from the start, was Cairne Bloodhoof, High Chieftain of the tauren. Sylvanas Windrunner, Dark Lady of the Forsaken, also seems to have a low opinion of the new Warchief, referring to him as an "ogre-headed buffoon".

'Fellow warriors! For too long; we have been slaves to the false treaties of the Alliance! For too long; have our blades thirsted, for revenge! I have held the innocent children...Dying...In my arms, and I shall accept it no more! No! Today will be the day...When we end...This insolence! And bring justice...Back...To the Horde!'

As the fighting ensues, a Horde hunter unleashes a dragon upon the battle. Monóri quickly heads over to deal with the Horde hunter whist her archers deal with the dragon. Blazer arrives mid-battle and runs, with the Orb of Vision, into the dragon's flame - breaking the orb and spilling Yimo's memories into those around the orb for miles and revealing the Lich King's plan. In the coming days, a memorial service is held for Yimo back in Winterspring, attended by all parties: Eden Aurorae, The Ancients, Alliance, Horde. During the service, Blazer makes a pledge to retrieve Yimo's soul – stating he’ll do 'whatever it takes'.

Things eventually came to a head between Garrosh and Cairne when the tauren leader issued a mak'gora, challenging Garrosh for leadership of the Horde - to which Garrosh, with Cairne's agreement, upped the ante by making it a duel to the death. Unbeknownst to Garrosh or Cairne until it was too late, Magatha Grimtotem - elder crone of the Grimtotem tribe and Cairne's chief rival - had poisoned Gorehowl while invoking her "blessing" upon it. A small wound from the axe caused the poison to enter Cairne's system and leave him practically defenseless, so that Garrosh's next strike kills the tauren chieftain. Horrified, Garrosh soon learns of Magatha's treachery when word reaches Orgrimmar of the Grimtotem uprising that took control of Mulgore, and Magatha requests Garrosh's assistance in putting down the forces of Cairne's son and heir, Baine. Garrosh was infuriated at how rumors begun spreading that he was the one who poisoned Gorehowl, as his very honor was at stake. Garrosh's reply was to wish Magatha a slow and painful death, before sending forces to aid Baine in retaking Thunder Bluff. Meeting Baine in Thousand Needles after, Garrosh insists that he had nothing to do with Magatha's treachery, and receives the grudging loyalty of the new High Chieftain.

The scene then moves onto Blazer filling Gwaar upon the events. The Horde and the Alliance are now united against the Lich King, the Eden Aurorae guild has been reinstated into the Alliance and has been given the task of finding a way to defeat Arthas. Blazer asks Gwaar about how to kill someone who is invincible. Gwaar answers by asking Blazer if he has heard of the Ashbringer - sparking everyone else around them to laugh. However, Blazer replies simply with 'Tell me.'

Thrall will send new goblin players to meet with Garrosh after they leave the Lost Isles. However, despite the bravery and courage shown by the races of the Horde, Garrosh does not seem to respect them, telling the Goblin player arriving from the Lost isles that their "kind" were not allowed within his throne room. Garrosh personally spearheads the assault into the Twilight Highlands, organizing an impressive air fleet to obliterate the Twilight's Hammer cult, and claim the land for the Horde. After giving an inspiring speech to this effect, Garrosh is informed of an Alliance fleet nestled below- and orders his air support to destroy them. However, this backfires when -due to treachery from within- the Horde fleet is ambushed, undefended, by Deathwing and his twilight drakes. Though Garrosh is personally able to fend one such drake off, his ship itself suffers massive damage and falls into the ocean below. The remainder of the fleet suffers a similar fate, crashing down into the sea. Garrosh himself is considered missing in action.

;Yimo's Eyes

:Throughout the movie Yimo's eyes change colours: Green/Purple/Brown. This is because there are three actors for Yimo since the 'real' Yimo stopped playing during production.

;Red Tauren

:At 30:24, when the undead patrol is chasing Yimo a Tauren with red shoulders can be seen on the right behind the hill in Winterspring. The tauren seen is a guy who should have hidden behind a rock when his Noggenfogger Elixir didn't work - but accidentally he hid the wrong place and got into the shot.

;Drinking Undead

:At 31:17, when Yimo says "Please stop them Blazer...", the high angle shot revealed an undead infront of the crowd sitting down and drinking. At 31:31, when the undead patrol charges at Yimo, the same undead was still drinking while everyone else moved. The drinking undead and the group of undeads had just been attacked by a dragon, so he felt he had to regain some health.

;Red Dress Tauren

:In the attack on Stormwind Sequence, the Tauren Xconzoa is wearing a pretty red dress.

;Two Blazers

:At 36:37, there is a rogue in the middle that looked exactly like Blazer who walked up with the army and stealthed. Then at 37:38 it seemed that Blazer had just arrived to the battlefield. (The rogue seen at the battle is actually Blazer, though he's supposed to just fill in a spot - the reason he was there was simply that the scene lacked rogues so he might as well fill out a spot if he used his hood and some other weapons.)

A trailer was released eight months after the first release of TotP II on 12th February 2007 - marking the start of filming. Just under an hour and a half long, it is a full feature-length movie. It involed 75 pages of script and took eight months alone to plan.

With the assault on the Highlands going well, Garrosh turns his attention inwards- and learns that the earlier ambush was a result of treachery at the hands of Sauranok the Mystic, who had thrown his lot in with the Twilight's Hammer. Garrosh quickly disposes of the treacherous Sauranok with the player's assistance.
Tales of the Past III out of the series has the links to lore. The presence of Mograine, Arthas, The Ashbringer, and even a Naaru make for a rich and enjoyable experience. The movie is masterfully devised in such a way to leave the ending open for other opportunists to expand on the story. The film is filled with all kinds of scenes, beautiful, intense, sad, happy, and everything in between. It is an absolute must-see for anyone, even, for that matter, people who don't play World of Warcraft.

Storyline
+
Tactics
  +
The battle with Garrosh is arguably the most difficult of all the faction leaders, a major factor being his strategic position. At face value, the several entrances to Orgrimmar can seem appealing to a would-be raid, though Grommash Hold itself has been moved to the most populated area of Orgrimmar- leaving Garrosh flanked by a large amount of Horde players at almost all times. Garrosh's lack of elite guards is compensated by the Warchief's Herald that pulls with him, and the small amount of space allocated for the fight- leaving most of the raid susceptible to AOE and easy crowd control from Horde players, most deadly being chain fears on healers or tanks.

The hour of judgment has come. The time for all to show their valor, and their courage... or their weakness.

  +
Garrosh has a number of powerful abilities in his arsenal. In addition to a melee cleave, he possesses a bladestorm-like ability which slows his movement speed by 50%, dealing roughly 15000 damage to everyone in the vicinity every second, for six seconds total. Garrosh also uses berserker charge, dealing roughly 17k damage and knocking back the target by 15 yards. He also makes use of a shockwave ability with an impressive range, dealing around 17k damage to all enemies to his front and stunning them for 5 seconds.
Within Orgrimmar, many orcs publicly announce that the pending negotiations with the Alliance are worthless, that the Humans will betray them once again. Thrall himself believes they will take too much time. While Saurfang does all in his not-inconsiderable power to quell such uprisings, these sentiments seem to be shared by many. Their fortunes change, however, when a lone Mok'Nathal appears at the gates, and Rexxar is ordered to watch the Alliance and determine what they are doing in the war against the Scourge.

  +
The fight with Garrosh is highly unpredictable due to the immediate outside interference. The near constant threat of a large Horde defense force can make or break the attempt, and a wipe can be incredibly difficult to recover from.
Meanwhile, within the Alliance, discord is ever present. Monóri and Serphentos do all in their power to help smooth relations between the Alliance and the Horde, but in addition to their angry followers, their own prejudices present a barrier as well. Only the theft of an important artifact, and a mage's quest to recover it, can convince the Alliance that this is necessary.

  +
The best way to deal with Garrosh is to strike at a time where Orgrimmar's player traffic will be lowest, and downing him as fast as possible within Grommash hold. Pulling him outside is ill advised, as the Horde will become even more aware of their Warchief's predicament, and a massive wave of constant guard spawns in addition to this can prove disastrous.
And while the war rages on Azeroth and Kalimdor, Blazer follows the trail of the Ashbringer, and it's wielder, the dreaded Death Knight, Mograine himself. From Azeroth, to Northrend, to lands unreachable by normal means, Blazer's trail follows, and unless his enemy can help him... he will fall to the darkness that took Arthas.

Players must also be careful of Horde players kiting Gamon into the area now that he is a level 85 elite. Gamon will randomly charge players and use his battleshout to increase Garrosh's attack power.

*Warsong Hold, Borean Tundra (master of the Hold)

**During the charge at the beginning you can see an Orc wearing the Battle Tabard of the Defilers, which did not exist at the time since the Forsaken were not even in existence yet.

**The Scourge minions are also using the Battle Tabard of the Defilers, but would not be possible since the defilers were formed shortly after the Third War, when many undead originally under the Lich King's command broke free under Sylvanas Windrunner to become the Forsaken.

**When the meeting with the dwarves is occuring at Ironforge there is a dwarf with the Aldor Tabard. The dwarves did not know about the draenei at the time so this is also impossible.

**Monóri is using the Arathor Battle Tabard. Although the League of Arathor existed, a Night Elf would be unlikely to have such an alleigance.

Letter to Magatha Grimtotem
*In the final confrontation with the Blazer and Lich King, both characters make direct references to a singular God. The main faith of paladins resides in the concept of the worship of the Holy Light, not a singular entity named God.

  +
In The Shattering: Prelude to Cataclysm, during the Grimtotem uprising, Magatha sends a letter to Garrosh requesting his aid against Baine's forces. Having learned of the circumstances that led to him killing Cairne, Garrosh sends this reply:

  +
:Unto Elder Crone Magatha of the Grimtotem,
*In the end during the speech of Thrall you can see a draenei. But they did not come to Azeroth until a couple of years later.

  +
:Acting Warchief of the Horde, Garrosh Hellscream,
  +
:Sends his most sincere wishes for a slow and painful death.

  +
:It has come to my attention that you have deprived me of a rightful kill. Cairne Bloodhoof was a hero to the Horde and an honorable member of a usually honorable race. It is with disgust and anger that I discover you have caused me to bring about his death through accidental treachery.
*Various models are also different from those seen in WoW.

**Arthas / Lich King wears Dreadnaught armor, different from his actual attire. This is because no Arthas model existed in WoW at the time the movie was created, and the authors simply used lookalike clothes to recreate his image. He also spends the majority of the machinima without wearing the Helm of Domnation, which as we all know is the mantle of the Lich King. Which makes this an inexcusable plot hole and lore error.

**Jaina Proudmoore is different from her WoW model, with brown eyes and Stormwind tabard.

**Kil'jaeden is shown as a normal mana'ri eredar, because Sunwell Plateau was not released at the time the movie was created.

  +
:Such tactics may work well for your renegade, honorless tribe and Alliance scum, but I despise them. It was my wish to fight Cairne fairly, and win or lose by my own skill or lack of it. Now I shall never know, and the cry of traitor will dog my steps until such time as I can sport your head on a pike and point to you as the real traitor.
Easter eggs
;Thrall's eyes

:When you first see Thrall in orgrimmar during the meeting with Morbid you will see that Thralls eyes are red, but later change to blue, the correct eye colour.

;First "Thrall"

:At the beginning of the movie you will see a Thrall looking character. But this is really Orgrim Doomhammer leading the battle against the Alliance of Lordaeron during the Second War, eventually killing Anduin Lothar (not seen in the movie). The reasons for the similarities could be put down to the fact that Thrall's weapon, Doomhammer, and his armour both belonged to Orgrim at the time.

  +
:So...no. I will not be sending any truehearted orcs to fight alongside your treacherous, belly-crawling tribe. Your victory or your defeat is in the hands of your Earth Mother now. Either way, I look forward to hearing of your demise.
Speculation
There is a likely theory that makes sense of the presence of a naaru at the end of the film. It's plausible that that was not, in fact, intended to be a naaru, but merely a representation of the unbound Lich King, Ner'zhul, who's character model is absent from the World of Warcraft image files. It makes sense that the Lich King, unwilling to suffer utter defeat, would return to once again merge with Arthas, returning Frostmourne to him and following with the quote: "We... had... a... deal...".

  +
:You are on your own, Magatha, as friendless and disliked as you have ever been. Perhaps more. Enjoy your loneliness.
Falch never elaborated on this, so it is a mere speculation, but after all, it's the closest he could have come to representing the Lich King using WoW models only, and it's much more fitting to the storyline than a sudden, unexplained appearance of a naaru.

  +
In World of Warcraft
Unfortunate this "theory" falls apart due to the fact that Arthas and the Lich King are now fused as a single entity, as they were at the end of the Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne. However, in the book Arthas: Rise of the Lich King, it would apear that Ner'zhul and the prince are not as fused as it would seem, as three parts of Lich King battle for presidence, a boy, a man and an Orc. Although the period in which the movie was set is several years before the book, it does show that the two souls in the Lich King are not fused entirely. Again, the appearance of a Naaru suggestining that it would willingly assist the Lich King would be extremely unlikely considering the lore of the Naaru in the Warcraft Universe.

Trial of the Crusader
:I was originally intending to merge a little forum fiction with the story at the end. A lot of speculation had been made regarding the Naaru, in particular on their strange and unexplained motivation for "helping us" fight Kil'Jaeden. In the Burning Crusade, the Naaru were portrayed as incredibly powerful, yet entirely "good" beings. I, along with others, found that to be rather strange, considering that no beings in the Warcraft universe tend to be "all that good". At the same time, their goal of destroying the Burning Legion and in particular Kil'Jaeden seemed to match Arthas goals quite well. Thus it occured to me that it might be plausible for the Naaru to make a deal with the Lich King, based on the idea that they're not entirely "good" beings.

  +
*The PvE server, Garrosh US, is named after Garrosh Hellscream.
  +
*The news on Garrosh Hellscream becoming warchief when Cataclysm is launched was not well received by the WoW community, with a large number of players objecting. One player posted on the WoW forums a long list of warchiefs that would be better than Garrosh.
  +
*Though Thrall calls Garrosh "boy" in the pre-WotLK event, looking at the timeline and reading Beyond the Dark Portal suggests Garrosh is actually older.
  +
*Garrosh's appearance (bulky with a shaved head) is practically the inverse of Grom's (lean with long hair).
  +
*Garrosh initially appears to be a Fury Warrior, dual wielding Bleeding Crescents. After his extended tour of duty in Northrend and receiving Gorehowl from Thrall, however, he appears wielding his father's axe alone; presumably, he was taught the finer point of Arms from Varok Saurfang.
  +
*He retains his old model in Warsong Hold and Garadar and only uses his new voice in Warsong Hold. He uses a regular orc voice in Garadar.
  +
*Garrosh's Rage is named after him.

—Pride of the Horde[1]

Garrosh Hellscream is the current Warchief of the Horde, chosen by Thrall to succeed him in the wake of the Shattering. He is the son of Grom Hellscream, a former chieftain of the Warsong clan, who freed the orcs from their demonic curse by killing pit lord Mannoroth. With the reopening of the Dark Portal, Garrosh was invited into the Horde by Thrall himself, quickly advancing to the position of personal advisor of the Warchief. Garrosh led the Horde troops into Northrend.

Garrosh is well-known for his fierce hatred of the Alliance and frequently expresses his desire for the Horde to go to war with its rival faction - a notion Thrall has always opposed. Now that Garrosh leads the Horde, however, he is free to conduct affairs as he sees fit.

Biography

Early Life

Garrosh is the son of Grom Hellscream, and was born on Draenor. Not much is known about his younger years, as his first appearance is after the Second War. It is known that he, unlike most of the orcs, did not drink the blood of Mannoroth.

Beyond the Dark Portal

WoW-novel-logo-16x62 This section concerns content related to the Warcraft novels, novellas, or short stories.

During the human invasion of Draenor, many Mag'har - the uncorrupted orcs who settled in Garadar, a stronghold in Nagrand - were ill due to the red pox. Garrosh was among them.

Kargath Bladefist visited them at Garadar in search of warriors to aid him. Garrosh asked him about his father, and wanted to fight with him, but Kargath ignored him at first, calling the Mag'har weaklings and not orcs any more, and they could do the Horde a favor by dying. Later on Garrosh asked Greatmother Geyah about his father, but the answer caused him to enter a deep depression.[citation needed]

Chieftain of the Mag'har

Garrosh Hellscream

Garrosh in Nagrand

Bc icon This section concerns content related to The Burning Crusade.

Learning that his father had eventually overcome his weakness for power – Grom gave his life so that the orcs would be free of demonic influence – Garrosh appeared to gain strength and confidence, believing he is no longer fated to fail himself and his people.

Theramore Peace Summit

Comics title This section concerns content related to the Warcraft manga or comics.

Thrall brought with him Garrosh Hellscream back to Azeroth to be his advisor. Later on the retired gladiator master Rehgar Earthfury also became one of Thrall's advisors. Rehgar and Garrosh used to be in disagreement with each other: while Garrosh wanted to destroy the Alliance, who he considers the Horde's enemies, and take Azeroth for their own; Reghar wanted to remain open to diplomacy with the Alliance and conserve their treaty of non-agression with Theramore.

When Thrall decided to go to a new meeting with the human King Varian, he brought with him his two advisors, Rehgar and Garrosh, as well as some Kor'kron. Reghar recommended Thrall not to bring Garrosh with them, but the Warchief thought it would be a good idea as it would help Garrosh to re-think his attitude toward the humans.

Heart of War

WoW-novel-logo-16x62 This section concerns content related to the Warcraft novels, novellas, or short stories.

Garrosh in Icecrown Citadel

Garrosh was present later in Orgrimmar in a meeting with Thrall, Lady Sylvanas Windrunner, High Overlord Saurfang, Grand Apothecary Putress and Rehgar Earthfury to discuss what to do about the Scourge. After consulting Saurfang and the spirits, Thrall favored a more cautious approach to dealing with the Scourge: an advance scouting party to the frozen continent before committing troops, as well as meeting with Jaina Proudmoore to find out what the Alliance were planning to do about the Lich King.[2] Garrosh however, felt that dealing with the Alliance would put the Horde in danger and wanted to take the Horde's armies and conquer the humans and then march to Northrend and crush the Scourge; advocating that the Horde should rule all of Azeroth.[3] Thrall, irritated by Garrosh's recklessness and bold challenges to his authority, answered that the humans were not a threat[3] and that he would not underestimate the Lich King by walking blindly into a Scourge trap.[2] Thrall then provoked Garrosh to challenge him to a duel by saying that he would not make the same mistakes as his father, Grom Hellscream. Frustrated with his leader's apparent lack of action and the insults to his father, Garrosh challenged Thrall to a duel in the Ring of Valor to settle the matter.[2][3]

The two orcs fought for some time until it seemed Garrosh had gained the upper hand.[2] He began to taunt Thrall, but the battle was interrupted by a Herald of the Lich King threatening Orgrimmar with destruction.[2] Hearing this, Thrall used Spell nature chainlightning [Chain Lightning] on Garrosh[3] and both left the ring, with Thrall telling the younger Hellscream that they would settle their dispute later.[2][3] The city was attacked by countless abominations and frost wyrms[2] and a few death knights.[3]

Thrall and Garrosh led the forces of the Horde in repelling the Scourge attack, with the help of Saurfang, Sylvanas,[2] Reghar,[3] the city defenders, and some adventurers. After the Scourge assault force had been dealt with, Garrosh asked to be sent to Northrend again. This time, Thrall agreed and ordered Saurfang to begin preparations for war.[2]

Excursion to Northrend

Wrath-Logo-Small This section concerns content related to Wrath of the Lich King.

Garrosh Hellscream was named Overlord of the Warsong Offensive, the main army of the Horde Expedition to Northrend. He established his command post at Warsong Hold in the Borean Tundra, on Northrend's western coast.

Garrosh is a firm believer of “honorable” combat; as evidence of his deprecation of the Broken Front. Though he endorses conflict with the Alliance as much as possible, he will only permit it if it is done in a manner that fairly tests the martial prowess of the Horde. Using underhanded tactics such as poison and mind control is considered “cowardly” by his standards.[4]

Secrets of Ulduar

Wrath-Logo-Small This section concerns content related to Wrath of the Lich King.

Thrall and Garrosh were summoned urgently to Dalaran to speak with the leader Rhonin. Arriving before the human King Varian Wrynn had departed, Garrosh and the king proceeded to skirmish in the Violet Citadel, but Rhonin halted the fight with a magical shield before harm came to either. Rhonin suggested that the Horde and Alliance work together against the new threat of Yogg-Saron in Ulduar, but Garrosh and Varian were partisan to the idea and Wrynn was portalled out. Garrosh expressed the opinion that a true Warchief would never partner himself with cowards.[5]

Garrosh, alongside Thrall, was later in attendance at the new Crusaders' Coliseum in Icecrown, surrounded by various champions and representatives of the Horde. During the tournament Garrosh requested that Tirion uses warriors of the Horde to challenge the heroes in the tournament in order to show the strength of the Horde.

After patch 3.3.2, Garrosh could be found at Light's Hammer inside Icecrown Citadel. He provided the Ability garrosh hellscreams warsong [Hellscream's Warsong] buff for Horde raiding parties. If an adventurer spoke to him and told him he is not needed, the instance will have to be reset in order to gain the buff again.

Garrosh receives Gorehowl from Thrall

After Thrall steps down to join the Earthen Ring in stabilizing a world devastated by the Shattering, Garrosh is named to succeed him as Warchief of the Horde - at first on a temporary basis (Garrosh even refers to himself as "acting Warchief" on at least one occasion), by Cataclysm it becomes clear that Garrosh's ascension is permanent. Thrall also gives him Gorehowl, the axe of Grom Hellscream, which he wields in-game as leader of the Horde. Garrosh has also received a new model as of Patch 4.0.1.

Now in charge, Garrosh evicts the majority of non-orc and non-tauren NPCs from central Orgrimmar, believing only they possess the strength to truly defend the city. However, every race is still accounted for and while being a tough leader, Garrosh sees value in all the races that belong to the Horde and uses them to the best of that value.[6] He also begins remodeling the city with dark metal, similar to Warsong Hold and other Horde bases in Northrend.[7]

Sylvanas Windrunner, Dark Lady of the Forsaken, also seems to have a low opinion of the new Warchief, referring to him as an "ogre-headed buffoon".[8]

Cairne's death

Cairne is defeated by Garrosh in a duel to the death.

Cataclysm

Cataclysm This section concerns content related to Cataclysm.

Garrosh currently holds the title of Warchief in Orgrimmar. He is located in the central area of Orgrimmar. His lack of respect was another driving force that drove Vol'jin to lead his people out of Orgrimmar as well.

In the Stonetalon Mountains after Garrosh "dismisses" Overlord Krom'gar he learns the art of mercy from High Chieftain Cliffwalker.

Without Garrosh's direct leadership, the Horde turns to the neighbouring Dragonmaw Clan to strike up an alliance. After failed negotiations with their master, Overlord Mor'ghor, the Horde forces join a Dragonmaw rebellion led by Warlord Zaela, successfully dethroning Mor'ghor and his fel orcs. Garrosh, who had survived the crash, arrives at Dragonmaw Port and officially inducts Zaela and the Dragonmaw into the Horde.

Tactics

Garrosh has a number of powerful abilities in his arsenal. In addition to a melee Ability warrior cleave [Cleave], he possesses a Ability warrior bladestorm [Bladestorm]-like ability which slows his movement speed by 50%, dealing roughly 15000 damage to everyone in the vicinity every second, for six seconds total. Garrosh also uses berserker charge, dealing roughly 17k damage and knocking back the target by 15 yards. He also makes use of a Ability warrior shockwave [Shockwave] ability with an impressive range, dealing around 17k damage to all enemies to his front and stunning them for 5 seconds.

The fight with Garrosh is highly unpredictable due to the immediate outside interference. The near constant threat of a large Horde defense force can make or break the attempt, and a wipe can be incredibly difficult to recover from.

Players must also be careful of Horde players kiting Gamon into the area now that he is a level 85 elite. Gamon will randomly charge players and use his battleshout to increase Garrosh's attack power.

Time is a factor with most city leaders, and Garrosh is perhaps the most notable example as to why.

As of Patch 4.0.3a, Mannoroth's skull has been moved to Grommash Hold in Orgrimmar's Valley of Strength. There, the skull can be seen as part of Garrosh's throne, and a large portion of tusks was cut off and fashioned into Garrosh's new shoulders' armor.

Letter to Magatha Grimtotem

In The Shattering: Prelude to Cataclysm, during the Grimtotem uprising, Magatha sends a letter to Garrosh requesting his aid against Baine's forces. Having learned of the circumstances that led to him killing Cairne, Garrosh sends this reply:

Unto Elder Crone Magatha of the Grimtotem,
Acting Warchief of the Horde, Garrosh Hellscream,
Sends his most sincere wishes for a slow and painful death.
It has come to my attention that you have deprived me of a rightful kill. Cairne Bloodhoof was a hero to the Horde and an honorable member of a usually honorable race. It is with disgust and anger that I discover you have caused me to bring about his death through accidental treachery.
Such tactics may work well for your renegade, honorless tribe and Alliance scum, but I despise them. It was my wish to fight Cairne fairly, and win or lose by my own skill or lack of it. Now I shall never know, and the cry of traitor will dog my steps until such time as I can sport your head on a pike and point to you as the real traitor.
So...no. I will not be sending any truehearted orcs to fight alongside your treacherous, belly-crawling tribe. Your victory or your defeat is in the hands of your Earth Mother now. Either way, I look forward to hearing of your demise.
You are on your own, Magatha, as friendless and disliked as you have ever been. Perhaps more. Enjoy your loneliness.

Full dialogue with Saurfang in Warsong Hold

This is the full transcript of the dialogue between Garrosh and Saurfang:

High Overlord Saurfang says: We are surrounded ... Our enemies press in from all sides, young Hellscream. The Scourge descends like locusts from the north. The Alliance holds the only secure shipping lane in this region and even that is at risk of being lost to those dreaded mists. Our only viable port for resupply is held by the Forsaken on the other side of this blasted continent! Anything our zeppelins cannot haul must be brought in by ship and travel the length of Northrend to reach us.
Garrosh Hellscream grunts.
Garrosh Hellscream says: Shipping lanes ... supplies ... You bore me to death! We need nothing more than the warrior spirit of the Horde, Saurfang! Now that we are firmly entrenched in this frozen wasteland, nothing shall stop us!
High Overlord Saurfang says: Siege engines, ammunition, heavy armor ... How do you propose to shatter the walls of Icecrown without those?
Garrosh Hellscream says: Propose? I will show you what I propose!
Garrosh crushes the figures and flag indicating Valiance Keep on the map.
Garrosh Hellscream says: There... Now we now have a shipping lane. And just for good measure...
Garrosh crushes the figures and flag indicating Valgarde and Westguard Keep.
High Overlord Saurfang says: So the prodigal son has spoken! Your father's blood runs strong in you, Hellscream. Impatient as always... Impatient and reckless. You rush headlong into all-out war without a thought of the consequences.
Garrosh Hellscream says: Do not speak to me of consequences, old one.
High Overlord Saurfang says: I drank of the same blood your father did, Garrosh. Mannoroth's cursed venom pumped through my veins as well. I drove my weapons into the bodies and minds of my enemies. And while Grom died a glorious death - freeing us all from the blood curse - he could not wipe away the terrible memory of our past. His act could not erase the horrors we committed.
High Overlord Saurfang says: The winter after the curse was lifted, hundreds of veteran orcs like me were lost to despair. Our minds were finally free, yes... Free to relive all of the unthinkable acts that we had performed under the Legion's influence.
High Overlord Saurfang nods.
High Overlord Saurfang says: I think it was the sounds of the draenei children that unnerved most of them... You never forget... Have you ever been to Jaggedswine Farm? When the swine are of age for the slaughter... It's that sound. The sound of the swine being killed... It resonates the loudest. Those are hard times for us older veterans.
Garrosh Hellscream says: But surely you cannot think that those children were born into innocence? They would have grown up and taken arms against us!
High Overlord Saurfang shakes his head.
High Overlord Saurfang says: I am not speaking solely of the children of our enemies...
High Overlord Saurfang says: I won't let you take us down that dark path again, young Hellscream. I'll kill you myself before that day comes...
Garrosh Hellscream says: How have you managed to survive for so long, Saurfang? Not fallen victim to your own memories?
High Overlord Saurfang says: I don't eat pork...
High Overlord Saurfang spits.

Trial of the Crusader

Introduction to Faction Champions, if playing as Alliance:

Highlord Tirion Fordring yells: The next battle will be against the Argent Crusade's most powerful knights! Only by defeating them will you be deemed worthy!
Garrosh Hellscream yells: The Horde demands justice! We challenge the Alliance! Allow us to battle in place of your knights, paladin. We will show these dogs what it means to insult the Horde.
Highlord Tirion Fordring yells: Very well, I will allow it. Fight with honor!
Garrosh Hellscream yells: Show them no mercy, Horde champions! LOK'TAR OGAR!

Horde victory in Faction Champions:

Garrosh Hellscream yells: That was just a taste of what the future brings! For the Horde!
Highlord Tirion Fordring yells: A shallow and tragic victory. We are weaker as a whole from the losses suffered today. Who but the Lich King could benefit from such foolishness? Great warriors have lost their lives, and for what? The true threat looms ahead. The Lich King awaits us all in death.

Stonetalon Mountains finale in Cataclysm

Overlord Krom'gar says: Watch now, Cliffwalker, as this battle comes to its glorious conclusion.
High Chieftain Cliffwalker says: You are about to cross a terrible threshold, Krom'gar. May the Earth Mother have mercy on your soul.
Overlord Krom'gar unleashes a bomb on the night elven settlement.
Overlord Krom'gar says: Look upon the world, Cliffwalker, and see the might of the Horde!
Portal to Orgrimmar appears and Garrosh arrives at the scene.
Garrosh Hellscream says: What have you done, Krom'gar?
Overlord Krom'gar says: Warchief! I... I was carrying out your command!
Garrosh Hellscream says: My command?
Garrosh Hellscream says: Was my command to murder innocents, Krom'gar?
Overlord Krom'gar says: Warchief... Sir... I...
Garrosh Hellscream says: Am I a murderer, Krom'gar?
Overlord Krom'gar says: No, Warchief!
Garrosh Hellscream says: Then I ask you again: WHAT HAVE YOU DONE!
Garrosh Hellscream says: I sent you to Stonetalon Mountains with an army. Your orders were to secure this land for the Horde.
Garrosh Hellscream says: Instead, you laid waste to the land. Murdered innocents, children even...
Garrosh Hellscream says: I spent a very long time in Northrend, Krom'gar. I learned much about the Horde at that time.
Garrosh Hellscream says: While there, a wise old war hero told me something that I would carry with me forever...
Garrosh Hellscream says: "Honor," Krom'gar, "No matter how dire the battle... Never forsake it."[10]
Garrosh Hellscream says: Overlord Krom'gar, you have disgraced the Horde.
Garrosh Hellscream says: You have brought shame to us as a people.
Garrosh Hellscream says: By my right as Warchief, I hereby relieve you of duty.
Garrosh Hellscream grabs Overlord Krom'gar.
Garrosh Hellscream says: YOU ARE DISMISSED.
Garrosh Hellscream throws Overlord Krom'gar off the ledge.
Garrosh Hellscream says: And you, <race>!
High Chieftain Cliffwalker says: Wait, Warchief! Please! <Name> was the hero responsible for uncovering this corruption. <He/She> tried to stop Krom'gar!
High Chieftain Cliffwalker says: Have mercy, Warchief.
Garrosh Hellscream says: Mercy... Your wife and child were murdered. Your kin wiped out. Your home burned to the ground.
Garrosh Hellscream says: Mercy... Chieftain, on this day I learn from you.
Garrosh Hellscream says: <Name>, Krom'gar's army is no more. Your rank no longer has meaning. If you wish to truly help the Horde, your considerable power could be used in Desolace or in Southern Barrens.
Garrosh Hellscream says: The choice is yours to make.
Garrosh Hellscream says: Let honor guide you, <name>. Do not forget that Hellscream's eyes are always upon you.

Notes

 • The PvE server, Garrosh US, is named after Garrosh Hellscream.
 • The news on Garrosh Hellscream becoming warchief when Cataclysm is launched was not well received by the WoW community, with a large number of players objecting. One player posted on the WoW forums a long list of warchiefs that would be better than Garrosh.
 • Though Thrall calls Garrosh "boy" in the pre-WotLK event, looking at the timeline and reading Beyond the Dark Portal suggests Garrosh is actually older.
 • Garrosh's appearance (bulky with a shaved head) is practically the inverse of Grom's (lean with long hair).
 • Garrosh initially appears to be a Fury Warrior, dual wielding Bleeding Crescents. After his extended tour of duty in Northrend and receiving Gorehowl from Thrall, however, he appears wielding his father's axe alone; presumably, he was taught the finer point of Arms from Varok Saurfang.
 • He retains his old model in Warsong Hold and Garadar and only uses his new voice in Warsong Hold. He uses a regular orc voice in Garadar.
 • Inv misc cape 18 [Garrosh's Rage] is named after him.
