Avatar Regalia as DPS set

I noticed that the Avatar pieces were taken off of this page. If thottbot is right, there are two Avatar sets: 1) Avatar Regalia, and 2) Avatar Raiment. The Regalia set has pieces that don't do straight +healing but do +damage and healing. For me, this is DPS gear, no matter that it's not shadow. Even holy priests need a dps set. I'd like to put the +dmg Avatar pieces back on this page. Is there any reason I shouldn't? -- Zules 14:24, 28 February 2007 (EST)

Converting the page

If the tables were. expanded a little with:

  • Level that the item is available at (quest pickup, or lvl restriction to the item)
  • Classes useable for (daggers / swords / maces / fire, frost, shadow damage)

Then it could be expanded to include a few items for mages and warlocks.. but other than that it'd be fairly much the same for all those 3 classes, and a lot more useful than just a "priest only" list. There's also room to make the rows templated. As seen on BC Cloth DPS Equipment/Row  - CJ talk / cont  08:47, 23 August 2007 (UTC)

1 block converted, others to be done later.

Perhaps even leather, mail and plate.. but that seems excessive, and the article would likely have to be split off per equipment slot if that were done. Making the article into BC Cloth DPS Equipment would make sense though.

Quest Info & Re-Ordering Suggestion

I would like to recommend that when an item is garnered from a quest, the zone, plus the quests be included in the note section. For neutral quests, you can simply use:

Terrokar Forest -Neutral [63G2] Skywing

While for quests that have a distinct Alliance/Horde side to them, we use:

Hellfire Peninsula -Alliance Crest [62] Quest, Horde Crest [62] Quest

The reason for naming it "Quest" with Alli/Horde versions is to keep the listing small. This will make it easy to see which quest to perform to get the item, while not making the table 3 screens wide.

Might I also recommend re-ordering the tables in order of Zone Level (Hellfire, then Zangarmarsh, Terrokar, ect), item/quest level, then by quality, then by +damage? This will make it easy for players just walking through the portal to quickly figure out which ones to get at their level. Currently being one of these kinds of people, I find the listing rather confusing at times, and I end up having to go through each section to figure out which one will be first/easiest to get until I can get the next step up.

I would like to see an extra column listing the minimum level each time can be equipped for all the charts. This would be the min level to accept the quest in the case of quest items.--Brunpal 16:15, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

New Items

Head: Crown of Endless Knowledge, +36 damage

2.3 updates missing

I added ZA items, but still missing are Badge of Justice rewards and arena rewards. Aigarius 01:01, 7 December 2007 (UTC)

new badge rewards

you should add in the rewards that you can get with badges of justice after patch 2.3 came out Imbored 16:56, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

New columns

It seems that to be a proper dps equipment list, not only does spell damage need to be listed, but also spell hit rating, spell crit rating and spell haste.

Improved Ease of Editing

I just noticed that if we move the section headers onto the Transcluded pages they can be edited directly from the main page. It might be a good idea to move all the section headers onto the Transcluded pages.

Tbannister 17:11, 9 March 2008 (UTC)

Actually, after thinking about that, I think the sections should be taken in a different directions. The table headers and footers should be removed from the sections and placed in the main page, keeping only the pure data in transcluded pages. Why? This enables us to create a new BC_Spell_DPS_Equipment page that includes the items from this page, along with the leather, mail, and plate spell dps equipment in sortable tables. It would also allow a Cloth_Spell_DPS_Equipment page to be created that includes all spell dps equipments from the original WoW game and also automatically incorporates items from future expansions as well in a sortable table. There might even be some tricks that can be used to customize which columns are displayed on which page. For example on the unified Spell DPS Page you might want to display a "type" column that lists the armor type and we might also want to provide an optional "slot column" as well. That might require a better understanding of setting "page variables" or something like that, though.

Random Skettis gear

Skettis Minibosses drop gear with random suffixes. Some are quite good and all are easy to grind. Gezzarak the HuntressKarrog the crystal giant Darkscreecher AkkaraiVakkiz the Windrager all can drop Windchanneller's Bindings & Windchanneller's Ceinture Karrog also has Karrog's Shard I'm not sure how to input those sorts of items. --Brunpal 12:10, 14 March 2008 (UTC)

Page Split

The page got too long and was no longer drawing correctly, specifically offhands and wands were being hidden. I split off the weapon sections (including offhand items) into it's own Spell DPS weapons page. Tbannister 06:25, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

Subsequently, I split the page again into BC Caster DPS weapons, BC Caster DPS accessories and BC Caster DPS cloth. This allows the weapons and accessories pages to be shared between the different armor levels (for future BC Caster DPS leather, BC Caster DPS mail and BC Caster DPS plate. Something's not right with Feet code, but I can't figure out what. Check out http://www.wowwiki.com/BC_cloth_DPS_equipment#Feet --Brunpal 13:18, 30 March 2008 (UTC)

The size issue is back. It looks like the cost template is simply too big to use on this page. It's making the page 4 times larger than it actually is. I removed a mere 2 cost templates (replacing with direct image links) and it looks like 4 additional items were drawn. Maybe I can make a simple cost template or something that doesn't include all the tier tokens, otherwise it's direct links for everything. Tbannister 13:55, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
Removing the {{cost}} template from the PvP items has reduced the size of the expanded page by over 25%. We should have about 400 kb of space now. We'll have to avoid using the {{cost}} template for future entries, especially for the Gladiator and other PvP gear. Tbannister 16:27, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

Sorting Issues

I've noticed that the columns with a + in them tend to sort alphabetically rather than numerically (meaning 20 comes before 3), I've removed the + symbols from the columns, but that still leaves the damage column sorting alphabetically because of the "all" or "frost" damage type identifier. I'm thinking about changing the template to have a damage type column that might use symbols for the various types of damage for compactness. Presumably, if it's simple spell damage there would be no symbol at all, since it's the case for the vast majority of items. Tbannister 18:19, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
