if it would help i could tell my source for this information right now it is from the game manual for Warcaft 2 Tides of Darkness where it is listed as a territory of the kingdom of Azeroth under control of the Stormreaver Clan page 69 and it location is in the same book on the map on page 36. :) tell me if this helps thanks (DJ)

Well, in that case, all is good :) I've re-edited the article -- Kirkburn 10:45, 19 June 2006 (EDT)

Should be renamed Balor (WC2) Edit

Since this is not a location in World of Warcraft, I think this article should be named Balor (WC2) to show that it is from Warcraft II. There is no article naming policy for locations currently, so it isn't described by policy. I'm also putting this here so if I move it to Balor (WC2) someone might be tempted to explain why they undid the change (which happened already without explanation). --Fandyllic (talk · contr) 3:26 PM PDT 5 Sep 2007

Following standard wikipedian naming conventions the rules are to only give disambugation when 2 or more places, things or topics share the same name, not when its the only article that has the name. As there is only one article on Balor it does not need a disambugation title. If its moved I will move it back, as its not needed, and and not standard.Baggins 06:32, 6 September 2007 (UTC)

ZandalarEdit

Added theory under speculation. What does everyone think? good? bad?Warthok Talk Contribs 06:38, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

It seems reasonable at least until you look at certain facts. From what we know of the stormreaver clan and history of Zandalor it seems rather unlikely that the Stormreaver clan would have found Zandalar or have built an outpost there. When Brann visited it found no evidence of anyone else living there but trolls.Baggins 07:21, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

It should probably also be noted, that if we were to speculate that ToS and Balor were moved directly west of where they were, Balor would probably be more closely in the position of Plunder Isle. See early map on Eastern Kingdoms, and compare with map in South Seas. Additionally check out Hiji and related map in Azeroth--Baggins 07:30, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
Don't ever recall it being meantioned the Stormreavers had an outpost on Balor. The broken isles yes, but don't recall anything about balor. Also i've seen those maps and disagree, if they were moved directly west Zandalar lies much closer to the position of where Balor would be than Plunder Isle. Regardless while the isles may have been moved, but theres no particular reason why they would HAVE be moved in the exact same fashion. Plunder Isle has a distintly different shape while Balor and Zandalar are somewhat similar. It seems far simplier to imagine Hiji and Balor being old names for Plunder Isle and Zandalar respectively. Under Hiji it is speculated that Hiji is the original Troll name for the isle. Zandalar may be the Troll name for Balor. Plunder Isle, now inhabited by humans (mostly) would go by it human name, Zandalar mostly populated by Trolls would most often be refered to by that name.Warthok Talk Contribs 09:50, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

Warthok read your warcraft II manual again and read the small section about the Stormreavers. It specifically states that Balor is one of their lands, infact it was island owned by the Kingdom of Azeroth (hmm a human kingdom).

I quote;

Stormreaver Clan
Chieftain: Gul’dan the Warlock
Clan Colors: Blue
Domain: Stormwind, Azeroth and Balor, Azeroth

-pg 67 of battle.net edition manual

So, not only do we know it was a land owned by Azeroth, which was formerly a human nation, it was also later controlled by the Stormreavers. The history doesn't fit Zandalar anyway you slice it. It would fit plunder isle only slightly better.--Baggins 22:04, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

Ack, then I can't really see how Zandalar could by any stretch of the imagination once been a territory of SW. I move the sectioned i added be stricken from the wiki. ;) Warthok Talk Contribs 23:07, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
Here even more crazyness. According to this map with very poor resolution[1] [2] There is some explanation text under the Balor island. Its very hard to make out. But during discussion in wowwiki irc we figured it says something similar to "new ....(word hard to make out)" on the top line, and "Treasure Island/s" on the bottom line (maybe its "newly named treasure islands"). Now treasure island? That's mighty similar to Plunder Isle.Baggins 23:23, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
