Hellfire Peninsula Battleground?

Wasn't there a Battleground between the Horde and Alliance during the Second War supposed to be added with this instance? Obviously it was switched for Eye of the Storm, but does anyone know what happened to it and should it be added under possible future portals? --User:Aroka

Black Morass / Dark Portal / Opening the Dark Portal

What is the official name? The LFG tool states the name as "Caverns of Time - Dark Portal" I think WoWWiki should keep to this name as the offical name too. --Ballistae 19:07, 12 March 2007 (EDT)

Why there is a reconstruction of Tarren Mill in the past? What is the event of the Caverns of Time regarding this town? N'Nanz 12:25, 22 October 2006

Rescuing Thrall from Durnholde, which is close to Tarren Mill. it's all inside an Instance, but you get into general - Hillsbrad Foothills, too :P --Tinkerer 08:32, 22 October 2006 (EDT)

I may be daft but the wiki page says "The setting of this event is the Black Morass, now known as the Blasted Lands." Isn't it really set in the Swamp of Sorrows? --Freestone 20:01, 10 September 2008 (PST)
No it's not, actually. In the beginning, there were two bordering swamp zones, the Black Morass and the Swamp of Sorrows. Due to all intense activity in the Black Morass (Orcish invasion from Outland etc.) this land dried out and became barren, thus called the Blasted Lands. The capital of Black Morass is Rockard (no idea where the ruins of it are located now, even if they exist). The capital of the Swamp of Sorrows is Stonard. Hope this clarifies things a bit. --User:ShandrisForever 08:38, 11 September 2008 (UTC)
I realized I was wrong last night (after posting) when I ran BM and realized that BL used to be a swamp. The portal in BM being the same one in BL made it click for me. The features of BM are identical to SOS so it threw me off a bit. It's amazing how Blizz keeps the continuity of such a huge universe while constantly updating their content. Now, if they'd just make WSG not take a year per run... hehe. --Freestone 20:01, 10 September 2008 (PST)

outdated

This page is badly outdated, and still sounds like TBC isn't out yet. No mention of the attunement quests (if any) to get in. KelvinFrost 05:18, 26 January 2007 (EST)

The attunement for hyjal is pretty big, and should be listed. User:CrazyJack/Sig 05:33, 26 January 2007 (EST)

Collapse

Regarding the "kaldorei vessel"... two npc's near it mention that "It came crashing through shortly after the collapse. We're examining it now." Does anyone know what the "collapse" there talking about it? Hordesupporter 01:54, 8 May 2007 (EDT)

I think that instance will relate somehow to happenings of the great sundering. Ok some of my speculation, we will see (just see) the aspects. The plot fits there, maybe the master of Infite dragonflight is an Old god? This old god maybe want to change history because, He could be unleashed, in fact, Neltharion were gone insane by Old gods, so, the betrayl of Neltharion were noticed when he used dragonsoul/demonsoul against nightelfs and demons. If this show of betrayl would be cancelled, there would be NO information about betrayal, and Neltharian could live normally with his fellow aspects. But Neltharion could unleash the old god, because Sundering (i assume) sent old god to depths of the ocean. If the sundering would be cancelled, Neltharion could DIG old god from his prison. Because of sundering, this ain't possible because of watermasses. So, this is just speculation. Sasupoika 01:54, 8 May 2007 (EST)

I heard that it is the entrance to Hyjal by someone.--SWM2448 13:53, 19 May 2007 (UTC)

Um... ok... I was asking about the "collapse", is there any information on it? Hordesupporter 22:26, 26 May 2007 (UTC)

it could be when the high elves first put their feet on the eastern kingdoms after they're exiled from the kaldorei. though i don't recall hearing anything about a fight (except the over-time one with the corruption of the elves, but that hardly counts). that could be it, but i dunno. User:Taurmindo/sig 13:09, 24 August 2007 (UTC)
As far as I know the collapse is kind of a joke reference to the fact they "collapsed" the tunnel it was originally going to open up to the Battle of Hellfire Penninsula the final battle in Warcraft I: Beyond the Dark Portal, just before Draenor was split apart.Baggins 23:26, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

In my honest opinion, I think that this instance will have something to do with the War of the Ancients. Think about it, Kaldorei vessel, probably comes from the well of Eternity. The "Collapse" is probably what happens when Rhonin, Krasus and good ol' Broxxigar change that timeline, and the Infinites are now trying to reverse it by killing them. You'll probably be in the midst of the entire battle, and you'll probably see Broxxigar taking on sargeras himself. But that's just my opinion. Keldelis 9:21 pm (MST) 7/1/08

You're forgetting that Rhonin, Krasus and Brox merely being there managed to damage the timeline significantly, even affecting recent events such as the death of Hakkar the Houndmaster in the Third War. My guess is that the Infinites under the orders of an Old God created an anomaly to suck them into the past and change history, and the Bronzes are trying to eliminate the time travellers to stop the damage. However as we know the Bronze Dragonflight failed there - the continued survival of Rhonin and Krasus in the present day shows this. But hey, it's worth a try. The Fourth Instance

There's so many cool places Blizzard could go with this. Obviously it involves Night Elves, and since the history of the Night Elves goes all the way back when, there's a ton of bad ass stuff they can choose to go with. I wonder what they'll go with. First invasion of the burning legion would be cool, but I dunno if they'd be willing to explore that since they've already sort of done that with battle of Mt. Hyjal. Can't wait to find out. Flying Mounts in CoT

I was looking through the article and (unless I'm going blind) I didn't see anything about flying mounts in the Caverns of Time. Anyone able to say wether they're allowed or not? --Kinyi 15:36, 7 June 2007 (UTC)

Can't. You're on Azeroth, so no. Pzychotix 15:47, 7 June 2007 (UTC)

Caverns of Time: "Old Stratholme"?

According to MMO-Champion, the fourth Caverns of Time instance will be set in Stratholme during Arthas' purge, and you're part of the soon-to-be-corrupted Prince's army. This is actually kinda interesting to me, because even though I'm not in any RP servers, I still write stories - and my main, Saavedro, is known as "Saavedro of Stratholme" because that's where he spent most of his adult life. That will feel kinda odd - purging your own town even though (historically) you weren't even in it when it happened! *wicked grin*

On topic, however: I'm curious how this will work. Tigole apparently said it was gonna be a 5-man, level 80 instance (so no mid-level CoT, like now). I'm guessing that it will be like the Baron-in-45 run, only this time you have to kill more people and burn more buildings than Mal'Ganis within a certain period. Perhaps those plagued people (or Mal'Ganis' Scourge) might be the agents of the Infinite Dragonflight? They didn't appear in Hyjal, but they took quite an active role in the other two instances - most especially Black Morass, as they attacked Medivh directly rather than through disguised agents, like the Tarren Mill guards in Old Hillsbrad. Perhaps their objective is to kill Arthas before he becomes the Lich King?

And I wonder - considering where it's set (a still-relatively intact Lordaeron, just like Old Hillsbrad), will the non-human/dwarf/gnome races get human illusions there too? --Joshmaul 10:34, 24 August 2007 (UTC)

Considering that there's not much need to hide identities before soon-to-be-dead people, but on the other hand you may have to be in contact with other people from army, it could go either way. --Rowaasr13 12:56, 24 August 2007 (UTC)

Tanaris

Where is Tanaris in COT? Mr.X8 22:55, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

Do you mean where is the CoT in Tanaris? Look on the map, it is labeled.--SWM2448 23:02, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, thanks Mr.X8 23:16, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

Infinite Dragonflight

Ok just hear me out. Isn't it ironic that in COT we're helping the bad guys, like Medivh open the Dark Portal and Alliance helping free Thrall. I just kinda find that ironic. Mr.X8 23:19, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

To me, that's the beauty of the Caverns of Time. It's a great example of the grey area of moral philosophy (Do you kill one man to save ten, or do you save one man at the cost of a hundred?) A basic way to describe it is that you are undertaking the "lesser of two evils." For instance, Durnholde Keep:
Are the lives of the soldiers in Durnholde, and those killed in the following attacks by the revitalised Orcs expendable, when those Orcs prove to be a major part in resisting the Burning Legion's invasion, or is letting one Orc die and committing the rest to the life of imprisonment/slavery better, after all, the Humans of Durnholde continue to flourish, but the Night Elves are left without allies as the Legion make their ascent up Mt. Hyjal? Azeroth, like real life, isn't something that can be broken down into black or white. And that's what I love about it. Suzanne 12:03, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

Attunement

There's no mention in this article about the pre-requisite quests to enter these instances...Skelatore 08:44, 20 February 2008 (UTC)

CoT in Tanaris?

Is it really correct to say that the CoT are located in Tanaris? It seems more likely that the current entrance to the CoT from Tanaris is just one of many pathways leading from the CoT. Saying the CoT are located in Tanaris is like saying they are also located in Old Hillsbrad/Black Morass/Mount Hyjal. Just because you can get to those places from the CoT doesn't mean the CoT are actually attached or located in those places. It would be more accurate to say that the CoT are located in a place outside of conventional space and time. Fnovd (talk) 21:24, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

New comments at the bottom please. I think the caverns are located in Tanaris, and the bronze flight uses it as an base for their operations (there definently isn't an entrance to CoT in present Hillsbrad, the cave you enter old Hillsbrad through is [in present Hillsbrad] a larger cave inhabited by Yetis). The bronze flight propably just chooses a suitable (secluded) location to open a time-portal to let "us" in. My five cents. CogHammer Ose talk/3721 21:36, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
Just as there isn't an entrance to the CoT in present Hillsbrad, there theoretically wouldn't be an entrance there in Tanaris in some point in the past or future. Perhaps at some other time, the current entrance there was or will be a pirate den. Fnovd (talk) 05:12, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
Don't forget that Nozdormu is always changing the paths of time, and, like one of the dragons in the CoT said, everything that is 'now' real could suddenly stop existing as it is. The Caverns of Time could be everywhere 'tomorrow', or never had existed. Jötun (talk) 07:15, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

According to lore the entrance to Cavern's of Time has always been in Tanaris, or at least as long as there has been a Tanaris. People might be forgetting but the caverns can be closed with a special gate.Baggins (talk) 08:05, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

At some point the caverns would have had to be just that - everyday caves - until the Bronzes found them. So there must still be a physical entrance somewhere, not counting all those portals opened up to other times. Jormungand01 (talk) 17:35, 16 September 2008 (UTC)

Caverns of Time: Mannoroth

Looks like the "Culling of Stratholme" won't be the only CoT instance in WotLK. I checked speech-related .mpq-archive of TBC (it's up to date) and found some interesting sound files. Three of these files I packed into rar-archive, so you can download and play them. http://rapidshare.com/files/131524716/CoTMannoroth.rar.html - virus free )

Sorry for my English ^^ --Fiorienn 05:48, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

Those are actually used for a Horde quest in Nagrand, when Thrall shows Garrosh Hellscream how Grom died. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 09:49, 22 July 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, if there is anything interesting wouldn't it be in the WotLK speech-related .mpq-archive?  Rolandius Paladin (talk - contr) 09:54, 22 July 2008 (UTC)
Oh, thanks )) I thought that it's somehow dedicated to CoT because of the "CAV_" prefix in the file's name. Fiorienn
