Another Dance?

I was looking in the WoW model viewer and the male and female humans have an animation called "EmoteDanceSpecial". They look like a slow dance of some sort, Do these happen at all in game? And if so, when?

New Animal Dances

After seeing the Druid Forms dancing post 1.10 I have this to say: Bears - Although simple, it looks exactly like a circus bear dancing. In other words, hilarious. Cats - Too simple. What are they doing, trying to be a DJ? Really, I think Blizzard could've done better.

Dwarf female dance

Actually, I've realized that the Dwarf females isw NOT dancing riverdance! They do the background dance to the song Moscow! [3]

Fel Reaver Dance

Checking the Burning Crusade model viewer, I've seen that the Fel Reavers do indeed have a dance animation. Whether or not this is happens in-game, I don't know. I also have no idea what the inspiration is, or what it's called, etc. I gave a summary description of it in the article. Help would be appreciated - Zerstoren@ 11:26 AM PST January 28 2007

Well, alright, it was deleted twenty minutes later, because "they are not currently controllable/playable in anyway". I understand this reason, but I feel the Fel Reaver dance should still qualify to be on this page despite not being able to be "preformed" by a PC. It is still a dance after all. Ay, that they do. It is the same. Referencing the model view, Broken Males actually use the Tauren Male dance. Unfortunetly, the Broken female is fragmented and doesn't work, though it seems to be in progress. --Zerstoren

Broken uses the tauren animations entirely, right down to the butt scratching. Similarly, the skeletons use Forsaken animations, and the Wretched use Troll animations when standing but Forsaken when dancing. ----  Varghedin  talk / contribs 07:52, 29 January 2007 (EST)

Seeing as you control a Fel Reaver in the quest "You, robot," it could be possible to make it dance. Can anyone confirm this? --Gilmat; 17 August, 2007

Gnome Male Dance

So, I took a look at this "Caddyshack gopher" video and it bears little resemblance to the gnome male dance, aside from a few vaguely similar arm movements. Until someone can produce a good video that demonstrates exactly what dance this is, I am removing any reference to a real-world dance. --Bwmathis 15:05, 14 March 2007 (EDT)

MiniMe is probably accurate. The thing the Gnomish males do with their fists clenched is an R Kelly thing circa 2000. The rest I can't pinpoint. SnarkyG 12:36, 8 June 2007 (UTC)

MiniMe is definately wrong. You can see this done is many old rap videos, the most famous of which is MC Hammer's "Can't Touch This." It's the last dance in the video, as he walks up the stairs. Caddyshack is wrong too, I'm going to remove the reference. I agree with BWmathis, that dance has about a 15% correlation with the Gnome dance at best. Xombi 17:46, 23 July 2007 (UTC)

Female Blood Elf Dance

The video link no longer works, YouTube deleted the video because it (apparently) violated their terms of use. Is there a more permanent link somewhere that could be used instead? --Toksyuryel 14:02, 15 June 2007 (UTC)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=066_q4DIeqk at around 2:30 has a dance routine of Toxic, but I'm not sure it's the actual routine of the song.

Tauren Female

I'd always thought that the Tauren Female was the electric slide, not the hustle, and after doing some research, I continue to have that opinion. See [4] and [5] for comparison. Daenei Female

I dunno how, but it seems that many of the moves thay use appear in the Dance Scene in Pulp Fiction, for some strange reason. That makes me kind of wonder, did they base it of Uma's Pulp Fiction moves, or did they really use that belly dancing some guy has claimed? [6] It appears near the end, that some moves bear striking resemblance to many of the draenei female moves. That is strange, because I thought the alpha dance for both Blood Elf genders were based of the dance scene between John Travolta and Uma Thurman in Pulp Fiction. Anyone care to explain to me? Blood Elf Female Dance

"Blood elf female - According to the Burning Crusade Collector's Edition DVD, the blood elf female dance is made up of excerpts from various Britney Spears videos. More accurately, the dance was taken from a Korean "iDance" video. The dancer seems to take a few moves from Britney, but otherwise it should be stated that the choreography is hers." seems contradictory. The official BC DVD says it comes from Britney Spears yet some (nobody) person claims it comes from some Korean dance video (with no citing or reference at all).

I've seen every move in the BE female dance done in Britney Spear's Toxic (live concert) videos. I've seen a dance video from a Korean game called Yogurting. Britney Spear's concert videos predate the existence of Yogurting. Even the BC DVD says it's from Britney Spears. I'm removing the misinformation about the Korean inspiration and posting a reference video from a Britney Spears concert.--Lockwinghong 21:17, 8 November 2007 (UTC)

Undead Female

"Goth-style dance"? What's that supposed to mean, anyways? I know that all goths don't dance like that...or are you referring to Gothic-looking? I heard somewhere that it's "liquid dancing" which I've never seen....I has a confusion >.< Aliron 00:15, 30 March 2008 (UTC)

I do believe that this is liquid dancing. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liquiding) The focus is mainly on the hands and arms, and the smooth "liquid" flow that it creates. It can be seen mainly in rave culture.

I know it's getting into stereotyping, which is why I think it deserves some looking into. I don't feel it's right to stereotype something as "goth", not only because that stereotype is so broad that it can be twisted into nearly anything, but because I doubt it's goth at all. I believe that the move is called the "weeping willow."

And I would like to add that the fact that the video mentions hippies doesn't prove anything—except that some people define the word "hippie" rather broadly.  (And can't spell it, either—"hippy" is an adjective that describes the female draenei model.)

I have been in the rave scene and this is a variation of liquid dancing. Not really a lot to this demonstration, but to get the full effect of liquid, especially trying to code it on 3d models is a really PAIN!! - Olyx
