Size Edit

How large Drakonids are? And what about an infobox for them? --Shargas the Naga 18:18, 24 November 2007 (UTC)

Don't believe theres any sources that state the exact size, though generaly they start a bit taller than taurens and end maybe 2.5 times that height. Maxnar is hardly larger than a PC, but Lashlayer is significantly larger.Warthok Talk Contribs 18:29, 24 November 2007 (UTC)

Blackwing Drakonaar Edit

Should the Blackwing Drakonaar from the Arcatraz be listed as a noteworthy Drakonid? I ask out of complete ignorance if he does in fact qualify as a Drakonid? --Cogsprocket (talk · contr) 19:09, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

Night of the Dragon Edit

Does the book by chance offer any new details on culture, history, biology of drakonids?Baggins (talk) 19:43, 22 February 2009 (UTC)

Only that Rask can speak, fight, and die by the hand of a dwarf. He also is quite capable of following orders. Short end, it's not much about Drakonids. TheAdamant (talk) 19:47, 22 February 2009 (UTC)

Related to... Edit

Couldnt they be related to trolls (half trolls, half dragons)?Becouse they stand like trolls, those two are Azeroths natives, they are devided in color, they use spear like weapons(polearms).—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Justakija (talk · contr).

Drakonid origins have never explicitly been explained so it's possibile some may have once have been trolls, but in this case that hardly means anything. Assuming their origins are similar to that of dragonspawn and from what weve seen in game, they mutate from other races (at vastly different rates depending on the situation) so while it may be possible a few individuals were once trolls, the race itself is not related to trolls or whatever particular race the individual may have once been. It's a transformation not an evolution. Though to be honest trolls are one of the least likely races to become dragonsworn/dragonspawn/drakonids. Humans, orcs, and elves are far more common and in the past it was almost exclusively night elves.Warthok Talk Contribs 09:15, January 24, 2010 (UTC)
Speaking of that... I think that the connection of any non-chromatic drakonid to Nefarian's experiments comes not from any big hints in Blackwing Lair, but rather from the theory in this edit. It seems to have spawned some confusion. The speculation here (that I shamefully tinkered with) is based on two points: It asks "Are drakonids like the dragonspawn?", and "What is the deal with the artificial ones, when so many can not have come from Blackwing Lair?". The non-chromatic or non-black drakonid in Blackwing Lair may be something akin to this guy, and not one of the blood-based experiments.--SWM2448 18:02, January 24, 2010 (UTC)
Ah. Usually speculation like that being put into an article would make me shake my head but i can defintely see how that would have been the logical thing to assume at the time. I agree the drakonids are natural (or more accurately supernatural, but you know what i mean) variants of dragonspawn, and the ones in BWL are under Nefarian's influence or clones made from ones he enslaved. I would speculate they may be what happens when the transformation is forced and done quickly such as in the case of the drakonids in shadowmoon that appear to be recently "ascended" or "dragon-sworn" orcs and the supplicants in Coldarra, as opposed to dragonspawn whom the rpg tell us happen slowly over time, but theres the case of the wyrmcult blessed in blade's edge whom transform into flametounges instantly. All in all it'd be nice to get an official explaination though i doubt the creative team may even have one at the time. I don't think consistancy is their strong suit as evidenced by the wrymcultist example i just gave.Warthok Talk Contribs 20:25, January 24, 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, it made sense at the time. Do you think there is enough information now to change something?--SWM2448 20:31, January 24, 2010 (UTC)
Nope, not really.Warthok Talk Contribs
Maybe they are cursed trolls(knowing theyre voodoo rituals and summonigs of gods), the trolls were trying to sommon something again, but it backfired... --JVS (talk) 10:52, January 25, 2010 (UTC)
No that's not the way it works with dragons.Warthok Talk Contribs 17:46, January 25, 2010 (UTC)
,,No that's not the way it works with dragons What the hell? This is a Fantasy game and the number 1 rule is the everything imaginable could be the answer, maybe theyre just dragon freaks. How do you know what could work and what couldnt? One word MAGIC...--JVS (talk) 19:20, January 27, 2010 (UTC)
I stand by what i said, because there is such a thing as precident. Anything is possible, but not everything that's possible is. If so you would have comfortably known that and not felt the need to start a discussion on the matter looking for other people's approval. What you want to believe yourself is of no concern to me, but this page is for discussing changes to the article and wild speculation such as that won't be posted.Warthok Talk Contribs 20:29, January 27, 2010 (UTC)
Sorry--JVS (talk) 10:10, July 14, 2011 (UTC)
