Lord Banehollow Edit

Multi-Questing Edit

Does this part still hold true or have they nurfed it? (Today is Jan 21, 2007)

  • 406Gold (+ cost for crafting mats) in total (or 156Gold (+ cost for crafting mats) and a Warlock with the three ritual components accompanying you to the western wing of Dire Maul)

Alchemy lab Edit

There is now one in Shatterath city as well - can't this one be used either?

I just tested this, you cannot do it in Shattrath. Plus the Imp in the Jar tooltip says "Scholomance Alchemy Lab" specifically. I've edited the page to reflect this.--Pittsburghmuggle 23:39, 10 July 2007 (UTC)

Some notes... Edit

First off, I got Rage of Blood at the same time as Lord Banehollow. Rage of Blood seems to be the starter for the materials portion, while Lord Banehollow is now the starter for the Imp Delivery string.

If you have a big emo attack, get afraid you'll never be able to get parties for the Dire Maul and Scholo part because they're pre-BC content, and abort the Xorothan Stardust quest WITHOUT buying (150g is a little steep), you can simply come back later with another shadowy potion and Banehollow will still have a big fat exclamation point over his head.

Last thing- warlocks still do this quest regularly. You can do it 5-man with just warlocks, if you bring lots of supplies and take it slow.

On Dreadguards... Edit

Someone might want to check just how many dreadguards spawn, and if their spawns are connected to the death of a previous dreadguard. The run I did of this (for which I wasn't exactly prepared otherwise I'd have gotten the skill by now)didn't see 10 or 11 dreadguards, and I'm wondering if that might be due to the fact that we enslaved every DG we could. --Darth603 21:49, 13 July 2007 (UTC)

Confusing text Edit

So I'm slightly confused. Assuming I have no other Warlock to help out, is my final approximate cost from the beginning of the first quest in the long Dreadsteed chain until I ride off into the sunset with my uber mount 406Gold? And with another Lock supplying the purchasable items to open the portal and helping, it will cost me a ballpark of 156Gold? Please let me know, I'll be happy to clear up the text after. Silver Dreadsteed Edit

In the WoWModelViewer, theres model for a silver version of the Dreadsteed. Anyone know what that's about? It's located at nightmare/gorgon101, and in the drop down box for colors there is an option for HorseSkinEvilSilver. --Jpsblue 04:33, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

Its been awhile, but I believe the model you're talking about is the one used for the dreadsteed that appears in Dire Maul, that you fight. User:Coobra/Sig2 04:56, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
Scratch that...thats the model of the spirit of a dreadsteed that appears after you killed the dreadsteed in Dire Maul. The one that ends the quest and rewards you the new summon spell. User:Coobra/Sig2 05:00, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

Nightmare is a stand-alone, while gorgon101 has only HorseSkinEvilRed and HorseSkinEvilSilver. User:Coobra/Sig2 05:27, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

Quest items no longer reusable? Edit

P0isonedx changed this article to say the quest items are no longer reusable. I've not seen this in any of the patch notes. If anyone can find proof, or multiple people say they've tried to use them and failed, we can change this back. --DuTempete talk|contr 03:31, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

They are most definitely reusable. If the warlock were to fail, and the items disappear, that would be 200g for every attempt. Bliz would never do that. They would have to severely lower the price of the items for them to EVER not be reusable. And they couldn't severely lower the price of all three items cause then it would be even cheaper for a warlock to get his epic mount + training. User:Coobra/Sig3 05:38, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

Materials changed? Edit

I'm not a warlock, but I am an alchemist/herbalist. I remember selling sets of 30 Ghost Mushrooms to warlocks doing the Dreadsteed quest... now it only needs 6? --Azaram 23:49, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

Yep they made it easier to complete the quest...changed the amount of potions needs from 10 to 2. or incase of mushrooms, 30 to 6. User:Coobra/Sig3 01:56, 13 February 2008 (UTC)

TLDR version? Edit

Is there a more concise version that says specifically what you need to do and what you don't need to do if you have someone who has the bits for the ritual? Presumably, it's a good idea to do the arcanite/black lodestone bit to allow you to help keep the items running during your ritual, but the jar isn't necessary (as I found out after I spent 150g on the stardust. :-p My fault for not reading ahead.) --Azaram 00:14, 14 February 2008 (UTC)

In order to receive the final quest, you have to do the entirety of both questlines. The only part you can opt out on is the purchase of the items from the imp who vendors them to you after you've completed all of the quests. --DuTempete talk|contr 21:09, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
Mm. A much shorter 'If you know someone who already has the stuff, then you just do this that and the other' would be nice, though. I'm still not sure how much of it I need to do, with the help of a friend who has the parts left. What quests do I do, what do I need to buy, etc... Under the Xorothian Glyphs section, this was the last paragraph:

Once you've done all the materials quests and taken the imp to the Scholomance, there is only one part and its Arcanite. Its a simple quest where you get an Arcanite Bar, after you bring it back you receive the Dreadsteed of Xoroth quest.

I edited it to simply say "...return to Wildeyes," reason being that the Arcanite Bar quest was already listed above, and this paragraph made it seem like you required a second Arcanite Bar. Ringswraith 15:59, 5 April 2008 (UTC)

Worth it? Edit

Is this worth all the trouble any more? I just hit sixty with my Warlock, and didn't realise how much time, effort, and most of all Gold was required to get my Dreadsteed. From the sounds of things, if I don't find someone who already has paid for all the bits and pieces, I have to pay over 450 gold total, not counting what I might have to shell out for rare resources from the AH in order to do the material leg. I'm already Exalted with the Night Elves, which means to get training and a mount from them is just 560G (480G for the training, 80G for the mount itself), which means I just need about a hundred extra gold (not counting what I might have to shell out for Large Brilliant Shards in the Dreadsteed quest), which I could probably earn with all the time I'd be saving by not doing the Dreadsteed quest. Obviously this was a lot more cost effective when epic mounts cost more, but now I have to ask, is the whole questline worthwhile for Warlocks? Darien Shields (talk) 11:55, 28 July 2008 (UTC)

Immol'thar's dais Edit

Page revamp Edit

The main article has a cleanup flag on it, and I'm going to be doing these quests soon on my warlock, so I figured I would tackle the page. Did a little bit so far, but going to wait to do the quests myself before making further changes.
