Talk:Expertise rating

From WoWWiki

error in weapon skill section

"weapon skill and is not limited to a particular type of weapon. i.e. there is not a separate expertise rating for axes and two-handed swords; the same table applies to all weapon types equally." is not entirely correct since there are expertise racials for specific weapons. Article's been updated.

We need to discuss the point "Expertise against Bosses"

Current testing and combatlog-parsing shows that boss-mobs have a significantly larger dodge rate than the calculated 5.6% due to defense/weaponskill relation. It seem that the dodge rate is more likely 6.5%.

I changed this fact once in this article and it got changed back to the wrong values again.

So please anyone who is willing to work on theorycrafting and formulas in here join me in discussing how we handle the expertise cap. Do we stick to the (in my opinion) wrong value or do we acept the higher value even though it can not be backed up with a formula, but only with data parsing.

Bosses do not have only 5% base parry

This article incorrectly states that the base parry chance of a boss is only 5%. This has been proven distinctly untrue by hundreds of combat parses, which have shown boss parry chance to be as high as 15% total. I changed the article to reflect this.

Agree with merge suggestion. Should also happen everywhere else we have a "Formula:X" and "X" page. Just causing unnecessary confusion.

It's on my to do list, however, I'd rather someone who knew what they were doing (with regard to the information) merge this into that. Could you handle it for me? --Sky (t · c · w) 07:46, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

With the following additions, you can actually go well over the soft cap of Expertise, and easily begin replacing with higher armor/stamina items for a higher Effective Health.

Talents

23.64 Expertise Rating - 3/3 Defiance (Warrior)

18.20 Expertise Rating - 5/5 Combat Expertise (Paladin)

Weapons

25.00 Expertise Rating - Dragonscale-Encrusted Longblade[10] - Confirmed drop off Kalecgos in 2.4 Live

18.00 Expertise Rating - Mallet of the Rising Tide [11] - The Lurker Below, Patch 2.3

21.00 Expertise Rating - The Brutalizer[12] - Supremus, Patch 2.3

Racials

18.20 Expertise Rating - Orc (While using an Axe)

18.20 Expertise Rating - Human (While using a Mace/Sword)

Human Paladins can soft cap as well, they just need an additional 52 Expertise Rating from the above mentioned sources to finish out. Unfortunately, without further drops to come Draenei/Dwarf/Blood Elf Paladins are unable to soft cap Expertise at this time.
