Extremely optimisticEdit

Okay, this article is just too optimistic. It makes two naive assumptions:

1. GMs are keen to do their job.

- That is not true! The article compares them with police officers, but they're more like public officials: They have much work, so they'll decrease it by any means. Also, even harassers and idiots are paying subscribers. And even on RP realms, they're the majority, so sueing them would damage the profit more than just letting them be. This leads to one conclusion: They'll interprete the rules as mildly as possible, or even ignore reports with such a "low importance".

And I can speak from experience. On my RP realm, it takes months to even force a namechange on blatant violations such as "Shaddowkilla" (and we have a special channel to report them), some names are even something like sad running gags when it comes to GM reports.

And things like /dance or spamming AOEs and so on? Well, whenever I reported that, the GMs told me this wouldn't violate the rules and/or they couldn't inspect that.

2. RPers are able to apply pressure on Non-RPers.

- Well, I don't know how's that in other language areas, but on the german realm with the biggest number of RPers they're still only maybe 10% of the whole realm population. Not a good condition for pressure.

Moreso because there's not really an "RP community", as RP is something where many individuals need to put in their ideas, leading to conflicts. And I think it's comprehensible people consider these conflicts as more important than some idiot doing AOEs for 5 minutes. Even more when, just to describe my realm's situation, Stormwind gets taken over by goldshire RPers.

And finally, most RPers are on their RP realm for the RP, thus they'll do instances maybe once in a month, assumed they even reach level 80. While Non-RPers are only there for the PvE/PvP content, and there they're among like-minded, so they don't even nearly depend on RPers, giving them no bargaining chips at all.

I don't want to discourage anyone from reporting, no, keep doing it, even one succesful report out of 10 is a triumph, but I also don't want someone to believe the utopia described in the article.

Lmao. This is, by far, the funniest guide I've experienced. I say experienced because for a moment, I actually felt like a furry-enthusiast, complaining to his other furry, RPrs, asking what I could do to stop the abuse and torment. Lucky for me, you kind gents actually wrote a guide for weirdo furry, RPrs like myself. Thank you. I'm going to go laugh some more.
