UntitledEdit

I'm going to undertake a re-write to bring this up-to-date & consolidate the page. With all of the other mage reference pages available, this page has lots of redundant information. Nipoez

Mana Shield preventing interruption?Edit

In the first section, the following is stated:

In combat situations where one may be hit, it is recommended to activate Mana Shield before using this spell, in order to prevent interruptions while channeling.

I might be splitting a hair here, but isn't this specific to Pushback? The statement seems to suggest that Mana Shield will prevent interruption due to things like Kick or Counterspell. I think the distinction is minor but important since casting Mana Shield then some other high cooldown spell, just to have a rogue kick the mage out could lead a new player into bad tactics. I'd change it, but I do not have a ton of mage experience and wanted to discuss first.

You are correct. Mana shield prevents pushback while the shield holds and does not prevent against Silence/spell interrupt effects such as kick or counterspell.

Furthermore, iirc, there is no shield barring the paladin total immunity shields that can, guaranteed, prevent an interrupt of a silence/spell interrupt effect. --Kelsjet 16:49, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

Blizzard SFAEG +dmg numbers? Edit

According to this article, "+150 damage will add 24 extra damage to a 780 damage Blizzard", but that seems wildly inaccurate to me. The spell damage formula article shows the damage calculation for channeled AoEs with additional effects (such as Blizzard) to be:

bonus = +dmg * (<channel time> / 3.5) * .95 / 3

This gives (150 * ~2.29 * .95 / 3) = ~109 total bonus to damage. Even if the bonus due to casting time is capped to 200%, it's still (150 * 2 * .95 / 3) = 95 total bonus. In either case, that "24 extra damage" looks like it's based on old (possibly pre-2.0?) formulas. Can anyone confirm the real, current +dmg coefficient for Blizzard?

Can't beat Minor Speed? Edit

For the kiting or AoE grinding mage, you can't beat Enchant Boots - Minor Speed.

Surely Enchant Boots - Boar's Speed is better (though more expensive).

How about it be phrased like "For the kiting or AoE grinding Mage, you just can't beat having a speed enchant on your boots." --Sky (t · c · w) 07:22, 4 July 2007 (UTC)
