Okay, but this page doesn't have the collection quests section. I tried moving it but not working for me. Damn, my beginner level wiki skills.

Some notes

Just writing from a second terminal, so I can't really wikify this right now. But basically some crystals will appear in a zone, two or three at a time, similar to the Ahn'Qiraj gate-opening world event. The crystals will then be surrounded by random Scourge zombies, level 58 and up. As you kill the zombies, more will spawn and the nearby crystal will lose "health." Eventually, when the crystal's "health" meter gets low enough a number of Scourge Engineers will spawn around the crystal. Talk to an Engineer and it will turn into a Shadow of Doom, a big level 60 shade with 40,000-50,000 hit points and some interesting drops. When all the Shadows are defeated, all players in the area will see their health and mana refilled, and will receive a half-hour buff called Soul Revival that boosts all damage by 10%.

These crystals can be very hectic scenes, as sometimes several groups or raids from both factions will compete to obtain the faction and rewards that come from tagging (and killing) the Scourge. Even so, it beats farming the Plaguelands for that suddenly all-important Argent Dawn reputation. --Sarbox 04:34, 21 June 2006 (EDT)

Another night, another zombie grind.
With six (!) zones under attack at once tonight, we discovered that when the crystal is low on health, if you don't convert the engineers that appear within a certain amount of time they will repair the crystal to a substantial degree and disappear, effectively resetting the encounter. Also, while the crystal is in this critical state all spawned Scourge will go into a sort of berserk mode, roaming freely over a much larger area of influence (a circle around the crystal roughly twice the radius of the original spawn zone) and attacking anything they encounter.
So clearing the crystal, say, by yourself with a buddy helping to get all the rune, stone and gear drops is not a possibility. In the end we picked up some passers-by and cleared the critical phase with six well-geared level sixty types and a level fifty-five; your mileage may vary. --Sarbox 04:05, 22 June 2006 (EDT)

Merged

Combined with my existing "The Scourge Invasion" page; redirected that page to here. --Oryx 07:32, 21 June 2006 (PDT)
