Talk:Suns
From WoWWiki
Point of note Outland probably doesn't have its original sun. Remember it was blasted into the Twisting Nether (but nothing was said of the solar system itself) and once in the twisting nether you can't trust anything you actually see, see Twisting Nether article. This could go for the "moons" as well. Although the "moons" could possibly also be other chunks of the planet. As well as seeing Azeroth.Baggins (talk) 19:13, 19 June 2008 (UTC)
- Im pretty sure those moons aren't part of Outland, they are perfectly circular. Rolandius

- Have you walked around the entire moon, to make sure? :p... But generally I do agree with you. They are probably either Nether illusions, explaining why you can't see them in every zone, or they were blasted into the nether with the world although they probably wouldn't be "orbiting" as they once were. I only brought up the possiblity since the possiblity of "roundish" chunks do exist (you probably noticed some of the "round" chunks above nagrand as well), although that is the least likely explanation.Baggins (talk) 03:47, 20 June 2008 (UTC)
- Ya I think those "round" chunks are part of Draenor that still are close enough to float above. For some reason there is still gravity and air, that is why some chucks are still in the sky. Maybe that is what is keeping the moons orbiting, some kind of gravity. Some places in Hellfire Peninsula, and other places, you can see buildings on pieces of land that are almost at a 45 degree angle and when you around those areas it looks crazy.LOL I think that sun would be the thing keeping Outland alive, but like you said if Outland is in the Twisting Nether who knows what is happening. - Read up on Twisting Nether lore to understand how gravity works there... Its not "zero-g" per se, you just need to be strong willed to have real gravity appear. This is why a tiny rock still has enough gravity to hold a person, when it wouldn't be that way in real life physics... Remember if it had true gravity those chucnks would fall to the surface.
- Okay I just read. It says you cannot see anything on the other side? I thought in the War of the Ancients they could see Sargeras and his army on the other side and vice versa. Also you do not age, get poison, and etc? On Outland you sure do need healing, can get poisined, and etc. Rolandius

- First question, whatever you see on the other side side is not literally seeing on the other side, it is an illusion of what is on the other side, but you are not physically seeing the other side.
- Rolandius as for the latter, ever heard of "game mechanics" since when does anything in WoW function like the lore (I mean can you will your character to fly the moment you get there)?
- However besides that Outland certainly has its own effect on certain physics, its in Twisting Nether, but it isn't of the same material as the Nether, its chuncks of from the material plane suspended in the Nether so in effect the two types of planar material bleed into each other. So the physics are neither quite material, but not necessarily nether either. Thus even in the RPG, immunities are not part of Outland's physical traits.WoWRPG 24Baggins (talk) 04:18, 20 June 2008 (UTC)
- It is easier to believe that there are moons around Outland than the idea of Azeroth being around Outland. Rolandius

- Also on a related note if and when they add the Emerald Dream there is no way game mechanics of WoW's engine will be able to show its physical traits in lore as well. Its similarly morphic as the Twisting Nether, and something that can be shaped by thought by Ysera. Show me how the engine could handle such a thing?

The Nightmare is another one of those things I don't think the game will be able to fully realize. I mean a mobile zone, never in the same spot twice?Baggins (talk) 04:34, 20 June 2008 (UTC)
- Ya they will have to make an instance for it or make it a huge cloud that moves around. Rolandius
(talk - contr) 04:36, 20 June 2008 (UTC)
Well one rumor is that the killing the god in outland, might have cured the Nightmare. IN which case they wouldn't have to implement the Nightmare ingame.
A second problem would be how do you implement a high level cloud that turns enemies into highly powerful enemies? I mean say your grinding at the beginning of the expansion, your level 100, but the nightmare represents a level 110 zone. HOw would you feel if it blocked your path to safety, and lead you dieing over and over due to low level mobs chasing you across the map?Baggins (talk) 04:44, 20 June 2008 (UTC)
