::: I can confirm this, if the third person on the threat list (typically the MT healer) has a higher hp% than the second, then they will get the bolt. This commonly happens later in the fight, when the healers are working harder and the hatebolt tank may not be getting back up to full hp before he casts another. My suggestion is to have a healer dedicated to healing the hatebolt tank when not healing the spark dps. The MT healer should always focus on that, as a couple of unlucky crushing blows can be tough to stop if you're attention is divided.

Revision as of 12:54, 31 May 2007

There seems to be some confusion about whether or not the damage from the adds is arcane/nature/fire. In all my attempts on the curator the damage has been arcane, and I suspect vandalism in the change to fire.

I actually feel that spreading out for the adds is counterproductive in this encounter. Their aoe only affects 3 people at maximum, which is often the melee chasing the Flares around, so there's no real point in spreading out. I think so long as healers are in the back of the positioning they should avoid most of the AoE.

In our first encounters I got the feeling that the flares don't choose a random target in the first 4 seconds. It seemed to me, that they went for the ranged DD that attacked them before me, or healers (healaggro). Normaly I was able to aggro them very fast within the first 4 seconds with a frostshock.

Clean-up

I have cleaned up the article somewhat. The strategy is left a little vague as there are several ways of successfully completing this fight. The trash mob section has been removed, dealing with the trash mobs before Curator is adequately covered under the entries for the individual trash mobs themselves under Karazhan Encounters. Side note - There's apparently still a lot of controversy about how the Hateful Bolts work. In my experience, Hateful Bolts were not based on current HP alone, however it seems the matter is still in dispute. Stillfresh 12:15, 11 April 2007 (EDT)
I see no evidence that hateful bolts are based on any hp considerations. From my experience it is entirely based on the second highest threat and the page should be changed (back) to reflect that. Harne 16:36, 2 May 2007 (EDT)
