On the whole, are the racial bonuses of the Draenei or Humans better suited for holy paladins? While Draenei have The Gift of the Naruu (a heal over time with a three minute cooldown), humans have The Human Spirt (passive ability for +10% spirit). --Litearc ta co 21:03, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
- It really depends on what you're planning on healing, as a PvP healer your main goal is basically heal as many as you can before you die, because you WILL die, whereas in a raid the point is to keep yourself and everybody else alive for a prolonged fight... in essence, for PvP Healing roll a Draenei, for Raid healing roll a Human. ~Peregrine
- Show me a gear set that is obviously for paladins and show me the spirit on it. You can obviously stack spirit gear if you really feel like it, but it'll be impossible to find spirit gear on a blue or higher plate item unless it's one of those drops that has a random enchant. (Even then it probably won't take that enchant.) I'll tell you now, I checked out wowhead and did an appropriate search and found that there is spirit on some pre-BC items, but not since then. Anyways, since paladins generally spam FoL for better mana efficiency (except when needing to spam HL in heroics), you won't have time to get any bonus from spirit. And it doesn't give any side bonuses like +healing or anything, like it does for some priests and druids.
- That said, I don't have a lot of spirit on my pally's healing gear. I do have 97 MP5 unbuffed. Add Wisdom to that, and I have 138 MP5, which is pretty good. I have done a fairly small amount of raiding, but I've noticed that that's more than enough regen for most fights, assuming you're not the only healer. Even on boss fights, you might run low on mana, but one potion should do the trick, if you must.
- In sum, I don't think the +10% bonus to spirit is worth anything, but the +10% bonus to reputation gains is. Gift of the Naaru doesn't look bad at all, but I don't think it's my deal. weapon choice? Edit
I've been looking around the posts and I've yet to find a post that answers the question I'm trying to answer. Is a 1h mace necessarily better than a 1h sword?
I'm a prot spec, and currently I'm using the Battleworn Thrash Blade, if only because I haven't found a 1h weapon with better dps (HoR is based on DpS, and i'm nothing if not a spammar of that skill...Glyph of Hammer of the Righteous FTW!). Somebody told me, though, that a mace is better because it gives the same dps (or a little lower), but attacks faster, which is better for tanking.
If you have a sword and a mace with generally comparable stats and the only difference being in attack speed, is the mace a better choice? I'm sure this question has been answered somewhere else; so you can just point me to the direction if the answer is a long, drawn out equation that you don't wanna type.
