Can a Vellum be enchanted via the 'not for trade' slot in a trade window? Athunt (talk) 17:05, 11 August 2009 (UTC)

I haven't tried it, but the question is why would you need to? -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 17:48, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
This came up on Quakenet/#wow because someone had found an enchanter who was doing enchants for free, including supplying the mats (so presumably someone levelling enchanting up, remember item level restrictions on the higher ones).
So, the someone in question wanted to be able to put a vellum in the "item won't be traded" slot and have it enchanted there. It's also one less item to lose if the enchanter turns out to be a scammer. Sure you lost the probably much more expensive enchanting mats, but you still have your vellum.
Said guy claimed it didn't work (but we're going on the claim of the enchanter in question here). I think it should *glares at Blizzard*. Athunt (talk) 18:00, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
Actually, thinking about it, I can understand why it wouldn't work. Enchanting a vellum isn't like enchanting a piece of gear; it actually converts the vellum into a separate item. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 19:21, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
Well, yes, that might be why the extant mechanic doesn't work, but there's no reason they can't add code to make this work. Athunt (talk) 19:29, 11 August 2009 (UTC)

ANYWAY. Can someone who can test this directly themselves please do so and then edit the Article of this page to quickly say whether or not it's possible? I'm not going to do so based on 3rd-hand info, but this is the 2nd place I thought to look to see what the situation was (sorry, wowhead was first ;)). I can't because my account isn't currently active. Athunt (talk) 19:30, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
