Question about final boss event Edit

I was wondering if at the final boss event if it used to be different. I seem to remember there being multiple waves of mobs, but in between the waves all players would be put to sleep for a few minutes, and a wave of mobs who did not attack would run past. Was I dreaming this? :) --Moomoofarm416 17:49, 2 September 2007 (CST)

You were dreaming, I have run WC at least a hundred times since WoW went live and never have seen that :P --~Terry 19:12, 20 December 2007 (UTC)

May I say that this is the corresponding Horde instance to the Deadmines ?--Kirochi 16:57, 27 Jan 2006 (EST)

See the page, http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/basics/worlddungeons.html. In theory we could have a chart somewheres on wowwiki for level -> instance. --Stfrn 22:14, 27 Jan 2006 (EST)
We have an instance guide by level http://www.wowwiki.com/Instances_by_Level --MTO 16:15, 19 Sept 2006 [EST]

TBC instance guides have a better legibility. Shouldn't this page be updated to meet the standard of TBC instance guides? Malusz 11:20, 11 April 2007 (EDT)

No, this isn't the "corresponding Horde instance to the Deadmines." The Wailing Caverns are easily accessible by BOTH the Alliance and the Horde at the appropriate levels (about 15/16-20); the Deadmines are only accessible to Horde of the appropriate levels if they are willing to do many graveyard runs through Stranglethorn Vale and Duskwood (of course, the Alliance has it easier...). First Major Instance?? Edit

"The Wailing Caverns is probably the first major instanced dungeon that lower-level Horde players encounter." I guess it was written by someone who never played a Horde character. What about Ragefire Chasm? --Konrad-kun 19:13, 6 May 2007 (EDT)

Blizzard lists The Wailing Caverns as a minor instanced area (http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/basics/worlddungeons.html) Chem 23:36, 27 May 2007 (UTC)
I was in Wailing Caverns a dozen times before I was in RFC once... I knew it was there but nobody ever wanted to do it when I was around and since I didn't have any quests for it, I didn't bother... --Azaram 05:47, 10 December 2007 (UTC)
I would say as a Horde only player that WC "IS" the 1st major one. RFC is more of a cluster and you dont have to follow too many of the grouping requirements however WC you start to learn form a proper group with pulling, ccing, healing, etc. ~Terry 19:15, 20 December 2007 (UTC)

Kresh Edit

"... and if tamed knows a really good skill compared to other turtles."

Would this refer to his Shell Shield ability? Chem 23:36, 27 May 2007 (UTC)

2.3 Loot Changes Edit

Is it not a bit early to have the 2.3 drops listed on the article instead of the current drops? We don't even know when 2.3 will be coming out. Varja 15:53, 28 October 2007 (UTC)

About 8.5 hours ago, now. :-p Although I'm having trouble downloading it, yay. --Azaram 03:29, 14 November 2007 (UTC)

The title "Fanglords" Edit

I cannot find any real reference to the Leaders of the Druid of Fang being refered to as Fanglords. Anyone object to me change this verbage? or can site something somewhere? ~Terry 16:01, 21 December 2007 (UTC)

Real reference? No offense, but I don't think you looked close enough, Lady_Anacondra... Notice her subtitle. Do a search for fanglord and you'll find many links to characters called Fanglords.Baggins 02:13, 25 December 2007 (UTC)

BossesEdit

Apart from Rare Spawns, you can kill *all* bossses, just in a particular order- Mutanus *does* appear when you have killed all of the other bosses *in* the instance. Thanks Pvprules --Well... PvP rules... 14:35, 27 December 2007 (UTC)

Quest chainEdit

Hi, I think it would be nice to have quests indented when they are step of a quest chain. For instance :

Quest Name Quest Giver Zone Location
Official horde mini-icon Horde Quests
Official horde mini-icon [10] The Barrens Oases (Optional) IconSmall Tauren MaleOfficial horde mini-icon Arch Druid Hamuul Runetotem Elder Rise, Thunder Bluff
Official horde mini-icon [13] The Forgotten Pools IconSmall Tauren MaleOfficial horde mini-icon Tonga Runetotem The Crossroads, the Barrens
Official horde mini-icon [16] The Stagnant Oasis IconSmall Tauren MaleOfficial horde mini-icon Tonga Runetotem The Crossroads, the Barrens

Official horde mini-icon [22] Leaders of the Fang IconSmall Tauren FemaleOfficial horde mini-icon Nara Wildmane Elder Rise, Thunder Bluff

would become

Quest Name Quest Giver Zone Location

Do you think this would be pertinent ? Is there any more standard way to achieve this ? --Kiku 17:59, 16 February 2008 (UTC)

Shell Shield Edit

Just wanted to point out that Kresh and the other turtle mentioned are not the only turtles with the ability Shell Shield. Deleted the text reading "that is unique to Kresh and Ghamoo-ra in Blackfathom Deeps." and replaced with "Kresh in the Wailing Caverns and Ghamoo-ra in Blackfathom Deeps are the only low level (20ish) turtles that know Shell Shield.".

The original writer of that probably meant that it was unique to them in that level range; but you're right, the wording makes it sound like only those two know it naturally out of all the levels. Felindre

Intro Edit

Maybe I'm just being anal, but it seems that the introduction to this article could use a rewrite. It is loaded with opinion and doesn't really offer the type of encyclopedic entry that people would be looking for regarding this instance.

Thoughts?

Embrace of the Viper Edit

The Embrace of the Viper set is a good reason to come here if you play a Druid (especially Resto or Balance), Shaman, or Hunter. The bonuses on the individual pieces give more benefit to a Rogue or Hunter, but the set bonuses are absolutely awesome for Druids, Shamans, and Hunters (not to mention the fact that it just looks cool).

Rogues and Feral Druids might want to go for the Defias Leather set from Deadmines instead; the bonuses on each piece are good for those classes, and the set bonuses are excellent for melee classes (Horde Druids and Rogues: good luck getting there if you can't find a high-level escort through Stranglethorn Vale). Felindre

This article needs an update Edit

"Jump of the cliff, you'll return to the main room and go right. After a lot of killing and slaughtering you will find "Lord Pythas", another one of the 4 Fanglords. Pythas is the toughest of the Leaders of the Fang. He puts out a lot of melee damage, and he has a lot of hitpoints. A 5 person level 30+ group has been observed to wipe due to Pythas before, if that gives any idea of his potential level of difficulty. (Said group was 8+ levels above Pythas)

The single main reason why Pythas often causes wipes is because he has two elite Druids and at least one elite Shambler with him. These additional mobs in themselves are not the problem; the problem is that because there are so many mobs present, players generally will not have any idea what to attack first. While players are standing still, trying to decide which mob to attack first, Pythas and the other mobs thus surround the players and exterminate them fairly quickly."

This is just one example. I killed Pythas today with a 3-man group (two warlocks and one shaman), and we were all between level 21 to 24. He certainly wasn't a pushover, but we were at no point in the encounter in danger to wipe. I also think that the whole article needs to be rewritten, as I feel that it is written with bad phrasing. However my own style isn't the best one, so it would be nice if someone else could do it.

Not horde-only Edit

The instance is quite fun for alliance players too, and while leveling a new alt, personally i always try to pick it up, generally before i even go to the alliance 'counterpart' of this instance DM.

The only issue is to get there, for new players the journey may be an obstacle, but experienced and adventurous players find it easy enough to either walk from Theramore to Ratchet following the coastline, mostly walking partly swimming to avoid some of the murlocks. An alternative way is to walk from Ashenvale to the Barrens, but the path from Theramore to Ratchet appears to be the fastest. Since we have summoning stones nowadays, having only 2 players in the party that picked up flight path Ratchet is sufficient for your party to have a pleasant run. --Nanobit (talk) 09:25, 4 September 2008 (UTC)

Final Event Edit

I have been through this and the last two times, today and a couple of months ago, the first wave of mobs would come, we would kill them, and then nothing. The NPC would sit and channel endlessly. It appears that it cannot be completed. Eyrta (talk) 01:19, 8 June 2009 (UTC)

Required time Edit

I noticed that while Wailing Caverns is the Featured article it says that 90 minutes should be set side for this instance, however in the actual article it says 180 minutes, I was wondering two things, first which is correct and second if the Featured article preview thing could be updated to reflect the change Kantoisamo (talk) 01:35, January 31, 2010 (UTC)

Shrine of the Scarab Edit

There is a link to a map of 'Shrine of the Scarab' on the Instance page, I'm pretty sure this is in the RPG only. Having it on the Instance page just causes confusion, can it be moved?
