Multiple mobsEdit

What is the point of engaging that many mobs at once? The only reason why you would do so is if it was required (i.e. a quest). At the very least, in engaging multiple mobs, that's the time AoE spells should be though of, rather than wasting mana on multiple curses. Pzychotix 12:11, 8 August 2006 (EDT)

If you send in your Infernal or Doomguard to fight something, when it breaks control does it come straight for you.

One of the best strategies for Affliction spec'd warlocks is the following.

1) Send your Voidwalker in to start attacking the mobs, doesn't matter if there's 2-3, let him pull them all. 2) Let him use his first Torment, start DoTing (Siphon Life, Curse of Agony, Corruption, then Unstable Affliction - in that order for optimized damage). 3) Switch to the next mob, sic your Voidwalker on him, start DoTing. 4) The first mob should be near dead, and beating the crap out of you. Switch back to it, Drain Soul for a free shard and 15% mana back. 5) Start DoTing the third mob, Sacrifice your void as it should be near death anyway (weak thing...), Drain Soul second mob. 6) Life tap until you have about even life/mana, Drain Life the last guy while you are bubbled, switch to Drain Soul when he's about to die.

You will probably be at low life/mana after that, so start attacking 1 or 2 mob groups now. When you're attacking 1 mob, use the following ez strategy.

1) Sic void on him 2) Dot up (before void even hits if you wish) 3) Spam Drain Life to get mass life back, make sure you are always using Life Tap so that no life is being wasted from either Drain Life or Siphon Life. 4) Switch to Drain Soul by the time he's almost dead (he should be attacking you by now... with Fel Concentration, just ignore him ;))


Too lazy to clean this up, it's 4 AM and I'm tired. If it helps anyone.... great, but the strategies for Affliction warlocks that were in this guide were a joke. At level 68, my warlock can EASILY take on a group of 4-5 (level 68-70) guys at once. Sic void, dot/switch, sacrifice when about to die, drain life to get life back, howl of terror in emergencies. Best I've done at level 68 was take on 6 level 70s with Arcane Int and Fort buff.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Gary13579 (talk · contr).

Trinket Edit

I am somewhat disappointed that Abyss Shard is not mentioned in these tactics. An instant Voidwalker no mana and shard required, with the right talent spec its instant cast as well. Gmillerd 17:51, 3 August 2007 (UTC)

That would be because it isn't instant cast. It has the same casting time as your other pets. The closest it will get to instant is .5 seconds, and that is if you burn a 15 minute cooldown and the voidwalker isn't even that great of a pet. Best thing about him is his sacrifice.

PVP strategies? Edit

I'm kinda amazed there's no PVP section here. Is it because so many people think warlocks can just fear kite anybody and cast death coil and howl of terror without any cooldowns? Because no matter what build or strategy I've tried in PVP, I usually end up being the first to die and one of the lower totals of honor kills despite being near the top of the damage done column.

Am I the only one who'd appreciate a PVP guide here?

Nezthulra of Anvilmar's guide Edit

This doesn't seem to be a well done guide. It suggests raising reputation for a old world faction to revered for a junky trinket. For an affliction warlock, 40 soul shards is extreme overkill, saying that shadowburn eats a lot of them isn't a good reason, shadowburn is a finisher spell and its mana cost and soulshard cost (and return function) definitely suggest that. You can give out 10 healthstones with only 1 soul shard, definitely not going to consume them fast. Shadow Ward is only good if you are facing a mob/boss that does shadow damage, which doesn't happen a whole lot. As a warlock, you don't use a whole lot of potions. It suggests green gems for your gear. Curse of doom is definitely better then curse of agony if you amplify it.

Lastly, none of the items it suggests getting are spelled correctly.   Zurr  TC 16:58, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
