Strategy discussion[]

Are you sure the treants heal for their remaining life, and not more? If so, it would not help the group at all to kill them. From a game designer's perspective it's more likely they heal for 1.5-2x their health, to give the players an incentive to kill them. Tifi 09:48, 15 April 2007 (EDT)

This is possible, but if you use AoE spells or multi-target melee attacks (Whirlwind, Cleave, etc.), you can probably deal more DPS to the treants than you could to the boss by himself, still giving some incentive to attack them. Matthias99 06:44, 3 October 2007 (UTC)

Tactic 5 worked good very nice!! After wiping again and again this one worked well

I'm a bit flomoxed. We went to do him tonight and tried all the tactics here and didn't even get close.

Did we lack really top class DPS? We had 2 mages (fire arcane with about +600 gear) and a rogue who was a pug, but seemed pretty good.. A prot warrior and heals from a fairly good priest (+1200 ish) Are we just far too far off the mark to do it? Or is it that we skipped some bosses that made it much harder?

We failed this boss constantly to but tactic 5 with 1 tank and 4 casters worked fine.

Grove protection from Arcane Volley[]

Avoiding the Arcane Volley by having ranged stand among the trees worked perfectly, this needs to be highlighted. Treants seemed to come along MUCH faster than every 45 seconds, more like every 20 from what I saw (I'll time it next run). I would suggest making the primary strategy the 1st "Strategy without AOE". The AOE strategy didn't work despite having two AOEs along. In the end, the best way was to DPS full out and then have each player kill trees near them when they spawned. If a few trees got through so be it. Naedar 12:02, 17 August 2007 (UTC)

Arcane volley on heroic[]

This is a real killer if you can't avoid it. It hits for about 4000-4500 and burns down healers mana quickly. We went down several times and then read on the internet, that you can avoid it by standing *exactly* behind him. We tried that and found out that the rogue, priest and hunter were not hit anymore - but I, as fire mage standing right in the hunters position, was hit every time. However, priest could keep me up with single heal easily and we finally killed him (killed 3-4 adds on each spawn though, ignoring the rest). --Thundor 11:59, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

Strategy Feedback[]

"alternative strategy"[]

As of the current patch I have been farming heroic instances for badges a lot, botanica being my favourite one. I have cleared it with PUGs at least 10 times now, probably more like 15-20, and I have yet to find a singel group to reach Warpsplinter failing to successfully employ the "alternative" add-ignore strategy, in fact, in these groups(Server is EU-Tirion) it hasn't been suggested once to use any different tactic. Based on all that, I assumed the statement that this tactic required very high group damage is outdated or just plain wrong, and have modified that part accordingly. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Bnp916 (talk · contr).

Botanica has been one of the most difficult heroics before the Great Heroic Nerf, so it is probably outdated. ~ User:Nathanyelŋɑϑ 14:23, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
