31 Arms/20 Fury
Notice: 18 - 33 is the best build. Got rank 14 nelf warrior @ executus (eu) and i got 98 days play time. I was rank 14 before the stupid cross relam so i know how to pvp with warriors ;) If u choise this specc, sure ms is good, but bloodthirst is better :) .U need the impale and deep wound from arms.

This build doesn't really specialize in one tree but creates a warrior which can build up a lot of rage while tanking (Unbridled Wrath & Shield Specialization) and having Piercing Howl which is quite important in Blackwing Lair at Razorgore. I took Sword Specialization because most high-end tanking warriors have either a Quel'Serar or a Thunderfury.

I'm tweaking the advice about Fury, adding information about 39/12 and 34/17 builds, which are generally considered to be more effective than 20/31. Nobody really uses that build.Schmoo 14:30, 10 April 2006 (EDT)
Take a look at the talent build pages for other classes. I think this page should probably be rewritten with the following taken into consideration:
- less focus on point-by-point description, as the talent calculator links do a much better job of showing where to spend points
- more focus on the logic and purpose behind the talent choices for a build, to assist in choosing a build
- improvement of the first section, "'Required' Talents" to a overview of all key and "bad" talents
- more comprehensive list of key talents in each tree
- add talents to avoid and talents that are more restricted
I'm probably going to start trying to rewrite this completely before reposting it, and would appreciate any comments on how appropriate this change would be. My0p1c 01:58, 7 September 2006 (EDT)

Additions and changing to level 70 builds

Well I think I have everything sorted out pretty well and the talent calculator links are now accurate. Plus I added a link to the official forum's "fortifications" guide which should help endgamers and give new players an idea on what to expect. I changed all the calculator links to go to the official site because it should be the most accurate. Yes I know they have not fixed the Commanding Presence icon yet, but it still seems like the best place to point them, especially since it includes the #/# so readers can see how many points they could put into it. I also added a bunch of links within the page going to other parts of WoW Wiki.
Hopefully this will provide a good start point from where more players can add their builds and make it easier to adjust details with future patches/expansions.

basic tank build, level 80 build
I added a basic tanking build suitable for someone looking to start in on endgame and keep roughly the same build through Kara, since there wasn't one on the page. It's the basic 5/5/45 tank build, with 6 points left unspent at 70. I had my name on it briefly, but since it's braggadocio to claim as my own what so many others have too, I renamed it to simply "Basic Tanking Build".
I also removed the level 80 build, as although wowhead lets you play around with talents as though the level cap is currently 80, I think it's unlikely that talents will remain as they are now even after the next expansion is released.--Scrotch 02:13, 24 December 2007 (UTC)
- Doh. Prot tanking build, right there under "Popular Level 70 Builds". Well, except the one I added is slightly more bare-bones (and I'm not sure what sort of Prot Warr doesn't take 3/3 Shield Mastery ;). A raiding main tank may find better uses for these points. In end boss fights where one enemy deals large amounts of damage, block value in effect works like another heal over time (it doesn't really matter whether the Prince hits for 9000 or 8900). Of course it's a useful talent, but it's not really mandatory.--Batox 09:56, 6 January 2008 (UTC)
- Interesting I hadn't heard that. The theorycrafting I've seen indicated that Shield Mastery is effective for mitigation as well as threat builds, as it effectively increases your shield block value by 30% at 3/3, and thus increases the damage from a successful Shield Slam.
- Also, in the explanation of the build I indicated that it was effective at least for pre-heroics through Karazhan. When you start MTing SSC/The Eye you will likely want to switch around your talents, but then again you probably won't be looking at wowwiki when you respec.--Scrotch 03:50, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
Revamping the warrior talent page
- Please remember to sign your comments, it makes it easier to see who has done what on the page. I am confused why it is that a great number of these builds were deleted, as they cover a wide variety of situations and the explanation of what talents are chosen for the build can help someone looking for ideas on how to spec into a niche or hybrid role. Certainly there was a lot of cleanup that could have been done, but I don't see how deleting builds wholesale (unless they were duplicates or poorly designed/explained) helps the page.--Scrotch 03:33, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
- Sorry, to be specific on what was done, many builds that were not cookie cutter were removed so the consistency with the other class builds is not lost, there were lots of personalized builds, some were renamed as cookie cutter (as close as possible to what their function is) and/or moved to where they should be (most mainstream builds that had 31+ points Arms would be an Arms build). Mainly because noticed a lot of Arms or MS builds that were barely 4-10 points apart which served the same purpose... example the functionality of a 31/5/25 is hardly any different than a 35/5/21 but both builds were listed and with a name tied to each no less, same with many protection builds, (seemed to have a straight forward idea about fury) thats why there were some removals. Right now the only thing i might suggest at this point is moving thing like the "Basic Tanking Spec" to Popular Protection builds due to the same reason that its listed as an other prot spec, but it isnt very far of the standard 8/5/48. Finally, only thing that does make sense is the hybrid builds section, i left it there with the edit but its almost like an "other other warrior specs" area, there are already popular and other for each of the 3 trees. Might just move the specs simply because the 31 pointer defines simply if a warrior is Arms, Fury or Protection. --Theakismanaic 2:34am EST Jan 21, 08
- Part of what hurts this page is the neutrality. Claims of "popular" or "cookie-cutter" builds should not be in any wiki article because it tends to suggest one build over another to the reader. The next part that hurts this page is how the builds are displayed. Coming up with a standard style would help a lot. Things that should be displayed for every build: a link, pros, cons, tweaks that can be made, key abilities, and possibly a little blurb about how to play the build. Ketta 14:59, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
Suggested PvE Fury build
Although the fury build 17/44/0 suggested on the page is good, in my opinion the two points in improved execute could be moved to Weapon mastery for an additional 2% expertise (2% hit if you havent reached the hit cap) and thunderclap and 2 points of parry switched to iron will. my reasoning behind this is that 80% of the time, mobs you fight will be above 20% health (obviously) and unless you plan on offtanking or tanking 5 mans, you should not need to parry, and the main tank should have his own improved thunderclap. 15% stun resistance would be a lot more useful for sustained dps in cases where there are AoE stuns (eg Tidal Surge, mob intercepts) as resisting one gives you an extra couple seconds of dps

Overconfidence in Prot

Dual-Wield PvP Suggestion
The build "Dual Wielding with MS (31/30/0)" is good, but i like to suggest a build with criticals. I think that critical strikes is better than extra hits, specially with Deep Wounds. With the Poleaxe talent, you will have +5% of chance to get a 20% bonus damage critical Mortal Strike. And it's hurts. I use this build in my warrior, and i'm happy :D . This build have points in Improved Intercept, usefull in Arenas/BGs, and Improved Hamstring, a 10%-chance to put your foe on a bad luck ;). It's a BG oriented build, but works well in Arenas and world casual PvPs. Note: Use Axes and look for +hit gems :P --Hoonx (talk) 13:04, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

Removed awful build
(((((This build (17/3/41) is a main tanking and/or off-tanking build, which also can put out very respectable DPS. With good dual-wielding gear the build can put out DPS almost equal to (maybe 10% less than) dual-wielding fury. When tanking the build sacrifices a little survivability (mainly Improved Defensive Stance and Shield Mastery) for higher threat. The main drawback of the build is that in order to fully utilize it you must have both good tanking and good dual-wielding DPS sets. The main strength of the build is that once you are properly geared you can be play DPS, Off-tank or Main Tank with the same build by just switching gear.)))))
deleted this for the following reasons
1. you don't maintank with anything other than full tanking spec (in raids) 2. 10% less damage than fury? ludicrous, its going to be far less damage than fury 3. Higher threat? threat is equal to any other prot build and you take 6% more damage 4. with summoning into instances, you no longer need to worry about specs, for a boss you swap in and out easily, no need to use a spec like this and perform less than 100% at everything --Xenutu (talk) 13:07, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
Um, 17/3/41 is fine, and so are other variations like 12/5/44. I've used 17/3/41 in BT and done good DPS as OT.

- 3 is completely wrong. I guess you've never heard of Blessing of Salvation or Beserker Stance? Do you think that Offtanks DPS in Defensive Stance with Blessing of Light or something?
- 4 That's nice. I hope nobody that sits out needs anything from the boss, you have the players on, you want to waste raid time swapping out people to min/max on bosses, etc. etc. etc.
1 you seem to misunderstand what he is saying about threat, he is saying it can generate high threat as a tank, but it is equal in threat to all other tank builds, so your point 3 is null 2 sign you comments --Xenutu (talk) 14:16, 2 August 2008 (UTC)
2h leveling build with improvet slam

Since no talent calculators show these old builds correctly, lets delete all builds.
Arms PVE spec added
I added an arms PVE spec as i think arms can very much be a PVE tree aswell as pvp, with Bloodthirst being a very nice raid debuff. My warrior isnt 80 but my spec is what i plan to go down. Will be interesting to see how it performs --Diggory (talk) 14:10, 11 January 2009 (UTC)

generic endgame tank build
Added a 15/3/51 build at the top of the protection section based on the work done at TankSpot for endgame tanking in 3.0.x and included some discussion on where certain points are placed. Called it 'generic' because there are 2 points unallocated at 80.--Scrotch (talk) 16:38, 16 March 2009 (UTC)
Many of these seem very similar- I know there's not a lot of variation between arms builds (the core talents are largely the same) but can we pare these down to maybe 2-3 builds that have different core talents? Seeing four builds with only some minor utility changes between them seems to defeat the purpose of providing sample builds if every possible build is just up there. Didn't want to delete any of them, and there are some with significant differences (the AoE build, the Arms/Prot build) but many just don't seem different enough to need to be here.
- The tanking builds seem to be suffering the same issue, many are only a few points different and are simply derivative of the generic build provided at the beginning of the section.--Gribble (talk) 03:04, 25 August 2009 (UTC)
- I think it's perfectly fine to have alternatives in the description. For example "You may choose to drop x talent in exchange for y talent if that suits your style", yada yada. Another acceptable way to do it is have the main talents filled in, and in the description to say "you may choose to put your remaining points into x, y or z due to your preference".
- Basically, the more builds you have listed here, the less likely people are to look at/compare all of them... so this is an important thing to clean up. If I knew more about warrior talents I'd tackle it right away :P --Grynd (talk) 02:30, 31 August 2009 (UTC)

- Please note that the creator of this build failed to recall tanks should have 540 defense, making them uncrittable, thus giving Blood Craze absolutely no practical use.
Why even bother writing things like this? If it's wrong, correct it. Don't just stick on contradictory comments at the end, as it reduces the quality of the wiki.
'stam whoring = bad'
note the * Raid Boss Tanking Build (5/15/51) by Tristan of Aerie Peak
gives up most of your threat generation for needless stam-whoring. This build should be removed.
-not 100% sure it should be removed. High end progression tanks sometimes take builds other than the cookie-cutter deep wounds one, though I've seen less since 3.2 started. Perhaps a cautionary note rather than a removal should be in order, also a suggestion that it is preferable to just offload the imp. demo/commanding presence stuff to a fury warrior in the raid.
This build is stupid
- Raid Tanking Build (15/5/51) by Zegai of Aerie Peak
More points spent in the Arms tree, but, it gives a greater chance of a Critical Strike, which offers more chances of more threat, and it includes decently 2 point for Cruelty, on Fury tree, and a 3/3 Armored to the Teeth (which increases your AP but not your Block Value), and, Shield Specialization is for 2, using decent 3 points for Sword and Board.
First and foremost, 3 points in puncture instead of focused rage makes absolutely no sense. This build looks like it is trying to increase DPS but confuses the issue by taking talents like improved shield wall instead of gag order. I think this should be completely removed, so I'm going to do just that. This is not a viable spec for any purpose.
