Is this guy in the RPG? It needs cites if so. The farewell needs to look like a forum post if not an in-game book, because it seems to be just a copy of the post.--SWM2448 01:55, 7 December 2008 (UTC)

No, the guy is not in the RPG (unless A'noob can provide a citation). Yes, the farewell is from a forum post, and it's not something that belongs here. Outrageous statements such as that he's helped Metzen with writing the quest lore is something that will require citation, and from a good source. User:Gourra/Sig2 11:01, 7 December 2008 (UTC)
Let only the trivia inspiration from that man who wrote a lot on the forum quest. His name truly comes from him.
A'noob, Godfather of the Noobhoof Clan (talk) 05:42, 9 December 2008 (UTC)
Says who? There could be any Xarantaur that this guy is named after. User:Gourra/Sig2 11:01, 7 December 2008 (UTC)
If you do not trust me, just do as I've seen on some articles "He might be inspirated from Xarantaur of the EU Quest Forum http://forums.wow-europe.com/thread.html?topicId=15211956&sid=1"
A'noob, Godfather of the Noobhoof Clan (talk) 05:42, 9 December 2008 (UTC)
That passage is fine, but any statements that he had helped Metzen should be with citations. User:Gourra/Sig2 11:14, 7 December 2008 (UTC)

Is it ok now ? A'noob, Godfather of the Noobhoof Clan (talk) 11:22, 7 December 2008 (UTC)
Yes, it's fine now. I edited it a bit. User:Gourra/Sig2 11:36, 7 December 2008 (UTC)

Citation Edit

Just thought I'd cite my sources here until I figure out how to add citations to the page... if you go to the Tome of Honor on SotS here: http://www.sonsofthestorm.com/tomeofhonor/ you will find a message from the 17 December 2008 from Metzen confirming that I do indeed know him and created Xarantaur :) - Xarantaur aka Xaran Alamas

A'noob said that he is Xarantaur too. Rolandius Paladin (talk - contr) 10:28, 18 December 2008 (UTC)

Well I don't know why he was claming that but if you check my email address you will see it is xaran.alamas@gmail.com, and if you search on Google for Xaran Alamas all of them will point to that email address. If you don't believe me, email that address and ask. Regardless, surely Metzen's word should be enough that even if you don't believe I really am Xaran Alamas that you can believe that Xaran Alamas did create Xarantaur, no?

Just added an additional bit of clarrification which should hopefully satisfy you: http://forums.wow-europe.com/thread.html?topicId=15211956&postId=73263433335&sid=1#639 Xarantaur (IE me) has posted in the Lore Q&A thread confirming my identity. If you check it is the same character who ran the lore Q&A threads.

I read your message at SotS and you said "Ho brave Sons of the Storm! There are those (at WoWWiki) that doubt the veracity of my claims to have conversed with the Thundergod and to be the creator of Xarantaur, please reply to this post to dispel such malicious lies!" Who are "those (at WoWWiki)" that you are talking about? Rolandius Paladin (talk - contr) 02:52, 19 December 2008 (UTC)
No-one in particuler really... just the people who edited my original edits... I guess I shouldn't have specified WoWWiki as it's also more general. As you can appreciate people tend to be rather dubious of claims to know Metzen. As for the bit about malicious lies... don't take it personally, I was just trying to talk in the sort of character that they often post in on SotS and I guess I got a bit carried away. :) (I guess I was also just getting a bit irritated at that point as well) Xarantaur (talk) 09:36, 19 December 2008 (UTC)
There's some kind of confusion here. I've never claimed to be Xarantaur. Since I created Xarantaur's page on Wowwiki, I've always claimed that the Xarantaur NPC was taken from Xarantaur of the forum. But without the citation I've never been trusted. Now Gourra got his proof :) A'noob, Godfather of the Noobhoof Clan (talk) 01:00, 20 December 2008 (UTC)
That statement was Rolandius' misinterpretation. The citation is nice. Smiley--SWM2448 01:24, 20 December 2008 (UTC)
I'm glad to here it A'Noob, afterall there can be only one! :) (Thanks for formatting the citations, I'm still new to editing wikis :D) Xarantaur (talk) 10:48, 20 December 2008 (UTC)
Oh I see. I did mess up. I thought A'Noob was saying he was Xarantaur but he was just saying Xarantaur was an actual person from the forums. Rolandius Paladin (talk - contr) 10:54, 20 December 2008 (UTC)
Well I'm glad that's sorted out :) Xarantaur (talk) 16:22, 20 December 2008 (UTC)
Would you please edit or write a new message on http://forums.wow-europe.com/thread.html?topicId=15211956&postId=73263433335&sid=1#639 ? ^^ Loremaster A'noob, Godfather of the Noobhoof Clan (talk) 17:05, 20 December 2008 (UTC)
Ah of course. Edit: When the page works for me again... Xarantaur (talk) 21:46, 20 December 2008 (UTC)

Affiliation Edit

Just to expand on my edit note, I removed Warsong Offensive from his affiliation for while he is technically Warsong Offensive rep in game and a Horde NPC, he is not a member of any of the Tauren tribes who joined the Horde and his loyalty lies with Nozdormu and the Bronze Dragonflight. Additionally, as my brother discovered when he paid Xarantaur a visit with his Dwarf Hunter, Xarantaur may appear hostile to Alliance players but does not attack unless he himself is attacked. He's no more a member of the Horde than the Steamwheedle goblins operating the Zeppelins are. Xarantaur (talk) 15:21, 17 March 2009 (UTC)

New comments go on end of the page. Lore aside, does his tooltip say 'Warsong Offensive' when you hover over him? If so the in-game faction belongs in the infobox as well. While wowwiki does include lore, it's not a lore site, and should include all appropriate information.Warthok Talk Contribs 16:42, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
Can't affiliation and in game faction be listed seperately? Or at the least can't I put a note on his page about his affiliation if it must say Warsong Offensive under affiliation?Xarantaur (talk) 08:47, 18 March 2009 (UTC)
I did try that initialy. by using "|repfaction=". Unfortunetly it simply overwrote Bronze dragonflight. A note would be fine.Warthok Talk Contribs 08:49, 18 March 2009 (UTC)

Dragonsworn Edit

As my statements as his creator aren't enough, here's my reasoning for classifying him as Dragonsworn.

Quote from Dragonsworn:

"Such devotees dedicate their lives to the protection and service of their dragonflights, and reap the benefits of the great knowledge and power that their draconic masters share."

Now from this article: "He granted me immortality as a Watcher, tasked to bear witness to the history of Azeroth as one of his agents." Additionally, as shown in the quests he has been granted powerful abilities by Nozdormu in relation to sensing and correcting distortions in the time-stream. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Xarantaur (talk · contr).

As his creator? Making the page doesn't make you his creator... the "creators" are blizzard employees. User:Coobra/Sig3 09:03, 18 March 2009 (UTC)
Hmm, you had him created by blizzard for you huh? User:Coobra/Sig3 09:05, 18 March 2009 (UTC)
Xarantaur was created by Blizzard, on the base of the RP character he made on the forums. So technically, yes He created him xD Loremaster A'noob, Arch Druid of the Noobhoof Clan (talk) 12:05, 18 March 2009 (UTC)
Indeed Coobra, while the "phsyical" NPC in game and quests were created by Blizzard employees his character, personallity, appearance and the backstory he tells you were all created by myself. Go ask Metzen on Sons of the Storm if you don't believe me :)Xarantaur (talk) 16:30, 18 March 2009 (UTC)
hmm there seems to be a misunderstanding here. The policy for the infobox is that it should contain only citeable material and specific informatioon from officially published sources. If it isn't a direct qoute it shouldn't be in the infobox. But there are other alternatives see note sections or user pages.Baggins (talk) 18:06, 18 March 2009 (UTC)
Also if there is more info about your rpg charcter outside of what has been published so far it would fit more properly on your user page or a user subpage. But I see no problem with a see also note within the note section of this article.Baggins (talk) 18:17, 18 March 2009 (UTC)
I've never actually played the RPG - I collect the books for the info in them, I just feel Xarantaur fits the description of Dragonsworn... however I've got an edit I think should be suitable. As for my user pages, I do intend to do a sort of 'expanded' Xarantaur article there including some of the 'behind the scenes' stuff as it were :) Xarantaur (talk) 08:03, 19 March 2009 (UTC)
Im not sure about it but i'm going to let Baggins handle this particular article. I think Baggins meant to say rp character though. When you do create your page place a link to it from this page. Add it to the trivia section, or if you want to be more subtle maybe use the word backstory and do this sorta thing [[User:Xarantaur/"PAGE NAME"|backstory]]. Your namespace is completely under your control so anything you wanna present regarding your character is fine.Warthok Talk Contribs 08:42, 19 March 2009 (UTC)
Ya, Warthok that's what I meant.Baggins (talk) 09:44, 19 March 2009 (UTC)
