History[]

After Illidan took control of the Black Temple, a projection of Kil'jaeden appeared in front of Illidan, Kael, and Vashj at the Temple Summit, giving him one chance to destroy the Lich King.[1]

When the forces of Aldor, Scryers, Alliance and Horde stormed the Black Temple, Illidan called his demon hunters atop the summit, opened a portal to Mardum, and sent them through it.[2] He also instructed the Illidari Council in the Chamber of Command to defend the way into the summit while the Betrayer himself went to cast a spell. As the council fell, Akama and Seer Udalo broke a spell cast on a door leading to the Summit. With the path clear, Akama and his companions attacked Illidan. Illidan summoned Parasitic Shadowfiends and Flames of Azzinoth and used his magic against his attackers. He was slowly gaining upper hand and called for reinforcements. Akama turned to dispatch them in order for the Azeroth's heroes to remain fighting Illidan. Soon, however, Maiev Shadowsong appeared and Azeroth's heroes attacked anew until, finally, he succumbed and died. As he lied dead, Maiev thought of his final words towards her. Distressed, she briefly contemplated attacking the heroes, but quickly dismissed the thought and simply left. As she left, Akama returned to see Illidan's corpse. The summit itself had stone melted and flowing like lava.[3] After Akama left the summit, Maiev returned there with her wardens and encased Illidan's body into a crystal. Suddenly, a portal opened and the group of demon hunters Illidan had sent emerged from it. They charged to attack the wardens, but they were trapped and encased in crystals as well. From there, they were transported into the Vault of the Wardens in Azsuna on the Broken Isles.[4]

Mists of Pandaria This section concerns content related to Mists of Pandaria.

Years later, Kanrethad Ebonlocke and Jubeka Shadowbreaker infiltrated the Black Temple and went to the Summit. There, Kanrethad opened a massive portal and absorbed fel energy. A warlock adventurer then entered the temple summit, summoned, and attacked Kanrethad. After defeating his demons and weakening Kanrethad, the fel-empowered warlock stunned the adventurer, but soon Jubeka arrived and banished Kanrethad for his betrayal.[5][6]

Legion This section concerns content related to Legion.

As a result of this breach, Akama had a holy barrier erected around the Temple.[7] During the third invasion of the Burning Legion on Azeroth, Illidari demon hunters pierced holy barriers around the Black Temple which allowed them to teleport to the summit. Matron Mother Malevolence enchanted and held the door while the demon hunters went to confront Akama atop the summit. After Akama was defeated, he was either convinced to assist the Illidari by Altruis the Sufferer, or Kayn Sunfury recreated the Shade of Akama, before leaving for the Fel Hammer.[8]
