The Tainted Scar is the large southwestern expanse of the Blasted Lands that serves as domain to many of the remaining forces of the Burning Legion that remained on Azeroth after the Third War. Another such group of demons remains in the similarly scorched and twisted Darkwhisper Gorge in Winterspring. With their leaders gone and their forces diminished, they had no choice but to stand fast and wait for the Dark Portal to open once again.
This area is covered with a thick, vile mist that chokes mortals stupid enough to venture close. Demons dwell here and pervert the already taxed land with their energies. Many people believe that Lord Kazzak of the Burning Legion resides in a tower hidden in the poisonous fog, but few have returned to give details.[1] That was before Lord Kazzak departed for Outland, when the Dark Portal was reopened in The Burning Crusade. Also, in World of Warcraft, no tower or any buildings exist in this area.

In World of Warcraft: Cataclysm, The Tainted Scar will gain a large Worgen-themed area.[2]
Daio the Decrepit will still be here, although it is unknown what his purpose will be since Ritual of Doom is being removed.
