Thornby and Garth were villagers who offered to help Arthas fight for Lordaeron when the prince passed by a village between the Silver Hand encampment and Strahnbrad. They became footmen and helped him fight against the Blackrock clan and Bloodhill Bandits.^[1]

Later, Thornby became a recruit of Kul Tiras and escaped the fall of Lordaeron, eventually becoming a Naval Royal Guard under Admiral Proudmoore. He was stationed outside of Vol'jin's new base camp, but was killed by Rexxar, Cairne Bloodhoof, Chen Stormstout, and Rokhan.
