Pol

The Twin Ogron, Pol and Phemos, are the fifth boss of Highmaul in Nagrand.

Background[]

Adventure Guide[]

Guarding the entrance to the Gorthenon atop Highmaul, Pol and Phemos are the personal guard of Imperator Mar'gok. Peerless in strength and determination, what these ogron brothers lack in intelligence, they make up for with sheer size and brute force.

Overview[]

The Twin Ogron combat players while performing attacks at specific energy thresholds. At 33 energy, an Ogron uses his special weapon attack. At 66 energy, an Ogron performs a large shout. Finally, at 100 energy, an Ogron performs a large, raid-wide attack. As the distance between the Ogron increases, their haste increases and casting time additionally decreases, reducing the amount of time players have to react to various abilities.

Dps icon Damage Dealers[]

  • Stand near Phemos for Enfeebling Roar, as he splits damage, effectiveness, and duration amongst nearby targets.
  • Be wary of the radius of Whirlwind and the path of Shield Charge.

Healer icon Healers[]

  • Be ready to heal on the move when Quake and Blaze begins.
  • Watch for Interrupting Shout, as it will interrupt and lock you out of spellcasting for a short duration.

Tank icon Tanks[]

  • Whirlwind has a large radius, and can be deadly when combined with Shield Bash.
  • Controlling the distance between the Twin Ogron is essential to managing the potency of their abilities.

Strategy[]

Twin Ogres have a shared health pool. At intervals each will cast one of 4 abilities - sometimes two overlapping. Save combat resurrections for tanks and top healers/dps after Quake.

Setup[]

2 tanks (assign one to each boss for entire fight), 4 or 5 healers, rest DPS

Tactics - Tanking[]

  • Tank close together so cleave damage on tanks is reduced, except move Pol away during Phemos's Whirlwind and Quake
  • Mitigate Pol's Shield Bash and Phemos's Double Slash with stacking Arcane Wound

Tactics - DPS[]

  • Phemos Quake 99: stand behind a dropped weapon and slightly to right; run parallel to it and hook round it; dodge the last one
  • POl Shield Charge 33: Watch direction Pol is facing and move out if the way
  • Phemos Enfeebling Roar 66: Entire raid move within 20 yards of Phemos to share damage
  • Pol Interrupting Shout 66: interrupt's spell cast for 6 seconds - stop casting
  • Phemos Whirlwind 33 energy: Tank move Pol away and melee switch to Pol
  • Pol Pulverize 99: three small rockfalls on 3 players followed by one large one - move away from yellow swirlies
  • Phemos Arcane Volatility: if targetted move 8 yards from others before it explode

Tactics - Healing[]

  • Tanks take extra damage from Pol's Shield Bash and Phemos's Double Slash with stacking Arcane Wound
  • Raid-wide damage from Pol's Interrupting Shout and Pulverize and Phemos's Quake
  • Phemos Arcane Volatility: 3 targets need extra healing
  • Pol Shield Charge: will need a Hand of Protection on anyone with Injured bleed effect
  • Phemos Quake: anyone slow enough to be caught by fire needs healing; ignore anyone with more than 3 stacks of debuff

Mythic[]

This is second easiest boss in Highmaul.

  • Rage timer is 7 minutes - if DPS is low, cut down to 4 healers - extra damage all round
  • Mar'gok empowers each Orgre alternately at 33 & 66 energy for 55 secs
    • Phenos Whirlwind: raid will be dragged towards whirlwind. Use Ability hunter aspectofthefox [Aspect of the Fox] and Spell druid stampedingroar cat [Stampeding Roar] to enable people to move faster and either:
      • Drag Phemos out early at 28 energy, or
      • Position boss in center and rest of raid (including Pol tank) stack outside of cirle - making it easier for dodging Quake
    • Pol Shield Charge: he will have 3 mirror images who charge out at 90, 180 and 270 degrees (X shape) - move back (especially in Quake) and stand in gaps
