Interesting WoWWiki Links

Fandyllic's Worklog

I'm not going to list everything, but I will put the general on-going projects and new efforts.

At the bottom will be work items done.

Fix stuff from MediaWiki upgrade

Many upgrades have happened and other people did most of this work.

  • I'll start with linked images and then maybe redirects to categories.
  • All redirects to categories are history. --Mikk 17:40, 20 June 2006 (EDT)

Implement Policy Status

See Policy status section of WoWWiki:Policies discussion for details.

  • I'll also be adding Glossary terms for the various statuses.
  • I also want to add articles for the policies on this page (maybe as templates) and put them in separate articles in the Policy category.
  • Make sure Policytoc (Policy TOC template) is up to date and color coded based on policy status.

{{user:Mikk|Mikk]] is doing a way better job, so I think he'll handle most of the loose ends.

Take over SilverSide stuff or ask others to

SilverSide has pretty much said he's done with WoWWiki, but he left his fingerprints all over, so something needs to be done to transition from the SilverSide era.

  • Most of the silverstubs are gone now. --Mikk 17:40, 20 June 2006 (EDT)
  • Made myself leader of WelComm community team, temporary leader of some other teams and found a leader for another team. --Fandyllic 5:50 PM PDT 17 Aug 2006

As done as it's gonna be.

Add product and ordering info links to Warcraft RPG books

Copied product and ordering info links from Warcraft: The Roleplaying Game to the individual source book articles. Alliance Player's Guide the last book done.

Cleanup WoWWiki:Policies page

There are a bunch of grandfathered policies on this page that need to be moved to separate pages and linked. Some stuff really isn't policy, but more like guidelines.

  • It's been cleaned up. --Mikk 17:40, 20 June 2006 (EDT)

Put sort keys on Category:WoWWiki stuff under W

Category:WoWWiki has lots of articles starting with "WoWWiki:..." that all show up under "W", so I put sort keys so they go other places.

Fixed member lists of Community Teams

The member lists of community teams on their home pages need to be fixed so they match the member lists on the main Community Team page. I may make templates for each team.

Made a local version of Two-Headed Ogre

Blizzard did an April Fool's joke about this, so I made a local version in case they delete it. Images are still external references, though.

Added new template to improperly non-plural categories

Put the correct2category template on improperly non-plural categories seen on WoWWiki:cats2fix that have had members moved from the incorrect category to the new correct one. Another round will have to happen after fixing more categories.

Moved big list from Servers category page

Previously a gigantic list of all the servers lived at the top of the Server category page. I moved it to Realms List and created many redirects to it: Server List, Servers List, Server list, Servers list, Realms List, Realm list, and Realms list.

Add Thottbot to stub categories and templates

Whoever filled in most of the stub categories and templates had a prejudice against Thottbot, but I don't. Added Thottbot links to the various stub articles.

Move Instance category to Instances

  • Done.

Even More Implement Policy Status

  • Some banners and vote sections added... more to come.
  • Assumed that existing policies were ratified and adopted, since by the new policy status they can be recalled.
    • Put proposal for a new status called grandfathered up for a vote, see WoWWiki talk:Policy status phases.
    • Implemented grandfathered banners unless someone complains, then I'll remove them.

Delete and Terminate

Made articles for delete and terminate that describe what being nominated for deletion and marked for termination mean and templates used.

Votes in progress vs. Votes for deleting

  • Removed from template to reduce massive quantities of those votes from category and people can look in Category:Votes for deleting instead.
  • Edit/saved most articles in that are about deletion to pick up new category in template. Thought it would be a pain, but it looks like some kind of wiki database maintenance did lots of it for me.

Blizzard forum link template

Made Blizzforumlink template.

Hidden comment in template:

<!-- Usage: p1 - URL, p2 - subject, p3 - date/time, p4 - author; use %3D instead of = in URLs -->

Example:

With template – From #. Missing subject | Unknown date & time by Unknown author:
Without template – From 3. Re: Ranged Slot Rant! ./flame devs!! | 2/6/2006 3:54:08 PM PST by Eyonix:

What do you think?

Made a new proposed WoWWiki icon for voting on (and tilted the "WoW" so it is horizontally aligned):

Changes and additions to WoWWiki:Policy/Category

Template-ized all category list to cats4all and added WoWWiki:cats2fix for problem categories.

Make local version of new Karazhan preview

Check it out at the bottom of the Karazhan page.

Non-Endorse Template

Noticed a ninja list page that might need an explicit note about how WoWWiki admins don't endorse it just because its on WoWWiki, so I created Template:WoWWikiNonEndorse.

Added Abbreviations

Added abbreviation definition, added Category:Abbreviations and tried to add a bunch of abbreviations to the category.

Add new category to Delete/Vote template

Added to template.

More Implement Policy Status

  • Add templates and note about decreed policies. Added banner and put it on grandfathered policies discussion areas, since those have highest likelihood of a recall, since they weren't voted on.

Breakout World of Warcraft API sections

Finished breaking out World of Warcraft API sections into pages called "World of Warcraft API/<section_name>", but kept original at World of Warcraft API/All.

Modified banners for Policy status phases and Voting policy

Policy/Voting Proposal

WoWWiki:Policy/Voting proposal put up for a vote.

New banners for Voting policy

Moved Vandalism Policy to it's own article

I was lazy and put the initial Vandalism Policy proposal on the WoWWiki:Policy page. I need to move it and the vote to ratify it to its own page.

Moved stuff to WoWWiki:Policy/Vandalism which was already there!

Propose Rejected and Grandfathered Policy statuses

Implement Policy Status

Policy Status Phase Banners

Added banners for the WoWWiki:Policy status phases:

Voting Templates

Abandoned

WoWWiki:Cat Team/Projects

Not formally pursuing this anymore.

  • I'll be working on the Character/NPC category restructuring.
  • Been slacking a bit in favor of general categorizing of uncategorized pages, so my work on this will be slow.

Voting Review

Not really policing policies anymore.

News

This whole thing is basically dead.

  • I'm the primary updater for this page, but not in any super-creative way.
  • I basically visit http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/ and http://www.wow-europe.com/en/ and copy the news from there into the News page.
  • Exceptions:
    • I generally leave out "Community News", "Forum Watch", and "Warcraft Weekly" articles, as well as on-going contest winner announcements (although I've been making exceptions for contests, lately).
    • Recently I've made some arbitrary exceptions, like "Warcraft MP3 Player" and "Arathi Basin Movie".
  • If I get the page getting too big warning (around 30kb), I move news to Category:News. My choosing is semi-arbitrary, but I try to move the oldest stuff first.

Categorize Category:Powers

Looks good now.

Start adding folks to 1000, 2500, and 5000 club

Mostly done and other people are adding people as they find out.

Fix up old Honor System table and rank articles

Probably will never happen with the the change over of the Honor system as of Patch 2.0.

  • There is no "superior" quality type. So change it to rare.
  • Go thru honor rank articles and add proper categories and make them more consistent. Maybe add rank images.
