Chapter 1 : Prologue

(written prior to the First Invasion)

For centuries I have studied the mysteries of the ancient Well. Its true powers are far beyond the comprehension of mere mortals of our world. Even the demigod Cenarius has limited knowledge of the well. He believes that we should not manipulate the powers of the well, even if its for the sake of the forest. He fears it because he does not understand it. He fears it because its powers are "unstable". So why not study it? Try to understand it. Once we know enough about the well, we should have no reason to fear it.

The well draws energy from a source unknown to us. But its purpose is truly benevolent and divine. It was created by those who shaped this world, made to continue their work even after they have left ages ago. The well tends to this world like how a mother tends to her young. It continues to change this world into a more beautiful place. It subtly influence nature and those who surround themselves around it. This can be easily proven. Arn't the forests around the Well more lush and beautiful than forests anywhere else? Its powers nourish the spirits and bless not just us Night Elves, but all living beings in Kalimdor. It is truely brilliant.

(several years later)

Something is wrong. The energies of the well seems to be... disturbed. The once benevolent nature of the magic has changed. Something evil seems to approaches. I cannot comprehend why it is coming from the well but this is a remarkable event that can tell us more about the well, its creators and its true purpose. What ever is going to happen will probably change all our lives forever.

Chapter 2: The Shadow Comes

(Written during the early days of the War of the Ancients)

I continue my studies, searching for the source of this new, darker and alien energy. My findings are startling. Queen Ashara and her closet Highborne priests are communicating with a being from outside our world. They are using the well to channel this energy. Spying on them, I discovered the identity of this being. He is a creature whose power knows no bounds. His corruption is consuming our leaders. The demon lord Sageras intends to enter our world. Before I could escape, the guards spotted me. Fearing for my life, I fled the Palace, using only my arcane powers to create illusion to decieve my pursuers. I escaped into the forests. I am a fugitive. The Queen will decieve the others. She will make them believe I was the enemy and that I was an agent for Sagares. Why didn't Cenarius nor the other ancients, or anyone for that matter, foresee this day?

For weeks, I hid in the forest, carefully avoiding any Sentinels or Owls. I searched for Cenarius, praying that the Demigod may have the solution and answer to saving our land from doom. However, I was too late. Queen Ashara had already opened the portal. As the first Demons set foot on our sacred groves, our warriors and sentinels immediatly met them in battle. There is no doubt now what their mission was. The demons have come to burn this world to ash and amber.

It appears others have also detected the demons before they came. A druid called Furion Stormrage has gathered a resistance. Since the Queen will not fight the invaders, it appears we will have to do it ourselves. I continued to Furion's base and joined his ranks. It is here where I met the women who will become the leader of the Night Elves for the next Ten Thousand years. Tyrande Whisperwind, the Priestess of the Moon was among those who resisted the Legion of Flames.

My beloved Naisha was also in the resistence, serving under Tyrande and Maiev Shadowsong. I fought as a mage and healer, trying to ensure our warriors keep their limbs and heads on their body long enough to slay the demons. I blasted many foes to dust with light, froze them with ice and routed them with the Nature's Blessings. Even though our warriors held the line desperately, the enemy were strong and I tend to find myself in melee. Many fell on the initial onslaught of the Doomguards. Guilt overwhelmed me. If only I had stopped the Queen's portal. The invasion might never have happened.

Chapter 3 : War of the Ancients and Deathwing's betrayal

(Written after the War has ended)

I served in the Vanguard, holding the lines. Jarod Shadowsong makes a far better commander than the previous guy. Allies from other races soon joined us and bolstered our ranks. Treants, Taurens, Dryads and Druids all co-operated as one unit to battle a foe far beyond any mortal. But still, we still stood a chance to win. The Highborne, once Ashara's loyal pawns joined us. Dath' Remar Sunstrider brought my brethern to the side of the resistance. Using the very powers than brought the demons here to banish them, my fellow Elves fought well.

Still, we were no match for the mighty Archimonde. When Hope seemed to have faded, the Dragonflight finally came. Self-Proclaimed guardians of the world, it took them long enough. Victory seemed near. The flights of Red, Blue, Green, Bronze and Black all came at once. The Aspects were out in full force.

But when Nethalrion brought out an orb, a new magical weapon devised by his twisted mind, I knew something was wrong. The brute strength of the dragonflight is more than sufficient to defeat the Burning Legion. I cried out to my comrade to retreat, knowing that even if I was wrong, the Dragons would take it from here. My comrades laughed as I fell back alone.

I was right. The Aspect of Earth betrayed all of us, using the Dragon Soul, now known as the Demon Soul to destroy the entire Vanguard of both the Legion and Sentinels. I was a sole survivor. Even so, I did not escape unscratched. The burning flash of energy from the Demon Soul blinded me. My skin was charred and my eyes burn with the flame of a thousand dragons. Despite the agonising pain, I depseratly tried to stagger back to base. I would have been overtaken by Hellhounds had dearest Naisha not come to my aid.

For the rest of the war, I lay unconcious in the care of the Priestesses who healed me back to health. Unfortunately, they had not the skill not power to restore my eyes. Now all I see are color and shadows. Everything is a blur and it will be decades before I can enjoy the beauty of nature again.

Chapter 4: The Sundering and Pandaria

I awoke from my coma just in time to see the defeat of the Legion. Stormrage have succeeded in defeating Ashara. Unfortunately, in the process, the Well of Eternity was destroyed. As the Well and Portal crumbled, the demons were grabbed and warped back to where they came from.

The well then exploded, devastating Kalimdor. Great Landmasses shattered and scatter all over the world. More than half of Kalimdor would drift away while half of the land we had left would be damaged, turning into deserts. Scars will heal with time. Just like my wounds. But the power of the Night Elves and the benevolent beauty of the Well would be diminished forever.

The Well is nessasary for us to survive. The Legion will return for revenge and we need it as the source of power to defeat them. Illidan had the foresight to create the new well on top of Mount Hyjal. Though he was condemned for this deed, I personally think he was a hero. When the Highborne created the great storm, I was implicated even though I had nothing to do with it.

Initially, I was to be spared from punishment. This is probably due to the good relations I had with Furion, Tyrande and Naisha. However, I continued to support my belief. I publicly express my respect for Illidan and unhappiness over his arrest. Maiev, not very happy about me supporting her sworn enemy, Illidan, got enough support from the High Druids to banish me. I was banished a hundred years later than my Kindred.

Sailing East, with the intend of looking for their settlement, I sailed to close too the Maelstrom. I was ship wrecked onto an island. It was this way that I found the hidden empire of PANDARIA. I lived here for close to 9 thousand years. I was shocked at my own longevity, thinking I wouldn't continue to draw strength and health from the world tree. Turns out I was drawing arcane and druidic powers and energy from both the World Tree and the Sunwell. I could feel both powers but am unable to sustain control over it. I was simply too far from the wells, too new to these new magics.

Here, I lived for the greater part of this age. Learning from the Pandren Martial Arts. In return, I thought them the fundementals of Magic. Even though few could master it they were eager to learn.

The Governments of Azeroth

(Written after the Third War)

THE ALLIANCE

Humans (Stormwind): From what I have seen thus far, the governing of Stormwind itself is made up of the monarch, with a cadre of advisors and nobles beneath himself . At the moment, due to the dissapearance of the King, his son is more of a figurehead of the government rather than an actual ruler, with the advisors and nobles running the day to day governing of Stormwind. The outlying lands such as Westfall and Redridge are neglected by the royal court. Without the King or any sort of governance to choose their ruler, these people obviously are left to choose their magistrates in their own manner, through election. The true decision making and ruling power currently lies with the Nobles. If the King does not return soon, the Kingdom could soon crumble. Corrupt Nobles have already begun to seize power. Only the loyalty of Stormwind's subjects and support from their stauch Dwarven allies keep the proud Kingdom alive.

Dwarves(Ironforge): Dwarves too have a monarchy. Rule on the local level selected by the King, but most of the major decision making appears to come from the Dwarven Military. The Dwarves are extremely loyal to their King. The King of Ironforge commands great respect and pretty much anything he say, goes. The Gnomes are pretty much at the mercy of the Dwarven King, as they are taking refuge within his capital afterall. Even the Gnomish High Thinker is currently subject to Magni Bronzebeard.

Gnomes: Their home is destroy and all of them are taking refuge in Ironforge. Gnomish-Dwarven relationship have always been good so the Dwarves readily accepted them into their community. The Gnomes have pretty much no official government since the entire population is in exile. The High Thinker is still at the top though the Gnomes are now a scattered people. They are no longer subjected to the High Thinker's rule and now pursue whatever they please, may it be research into magic or technology.

Night Elves: Once a monarchy under Queen Ashara, it was destroyed and replaced with a tribal system. The Night Elven Government is heavily influenced by religion. The 2 main religions of the Night Elf, Druidism and Worship of Elune are both intertwined. During the Silent Virgil, Tyrande, Priestess of the Moon, leads the temple of Elune and the female Night Elf Setinels. Druidism was led by Tyrande's lover, Malfurion Stormrage. Until Shan'do Stormrage went missing in the Emerald Dream, the 2 religions and systems were able to co-exsit and even thrive with each other. Political tension in Darnassus is extremely unstable. ArchDruid Staghelm and Tyrander Whisperwind have no qualms showing their displeasure in sharing power with each other. Having lead the Setinels for the larger part of the past age, Tyrande is still the person at the top though the Archdruid is gaining supporters and may attempt a coup. All is not well in the Land of Eternal Night.

THE HORDE Orcs(Ogrimmar): Thrall is a revolutionary leader who may be the greatest ever to lead the Horde. Being both Diplomatic yet willing to use strength of arms, the Warchief is best suited to leading the Warrior city to glory. Having shown no weakness so far, his insights into the corruption of the people and judgement of character allows him to pause the spread of the Searing Blade. Tauren: Peaceful but powerful. Nothing much to see here other than plenty of cow jokes. Trolls: I have not gotten accustomed to being with the race my people have fought against for so long. However, many of them are entertaining. Extremely friendly when approached correctly, they have intergrated themselves with the Orcs, living, fighting and having a good stout together. Now if only I can get pass their accent.

  • Invin refuses to write a clause for the Forsaken. Only until he has true insights and have seen the true purpose of Sylvannas Windrunner, there will be a hiatus here*

Recent Writings of Dranoel Stormrider

These here are the logs of Dranoel Stormrider, Ambassador of the Horde and Captain of the Silvermoon Guards

I begin my expeditions into Northrend with the Forsaken's Hand of Vengence. They departed far eariler than the Warsong Clan. The Orcs have much preparation to be done, while our undead allies have been ready to cross the frozen seas for a very long time. At our disposal were old maps and information King Terenes' court has access to. No doubt, many of these charts came from the Explorer's League of Ironforge, abandoned during the Scourging of the Human Lands. We Sindorei are better prepared as well, for we have charts from Northrend Veterans who once served Kael'thas.
